I disagree with the idea of Phil actually being gay to any serious degree. What Phil's aversion to sexy women is is a severe overcorrection of his previous behavior from his early days of Let's Playing, where any time a woman came on screen, he would always make some kind of sexual remark, without fail. Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3 is a great example, as literally every single time she showed up, he couldn't stop talking about her boobs or how much he wanted Snake to bang her. It's an interesting theory, but I think the simpler answer is that, like with many things in his life, Phil was just emulating the style of others. When Phil was first getting started, the "angry reviewer" personality was a lot more prevalent on YouTube, AVGN and some of the Channel Awesome crew being prime examples. And even before that, shock jocks were a thing, and we know how much Phil enjoyed Howard Stern.

While that style still exists today, it's greatly toned down because it isn't advertiser friendly. In the early YouTube/streaming days, views were really all that mattered and content was less relevant. There's significantly more standards now for advertisers and monetization in general, as well as what material will even show up in search results in general.

I genuinely think Phil is still too stupid to understand how these guidelines work/streaming culture in general, but he's probably picked up little hints here and there on Twitter, and he at least knows a common issue with him is how immature he is. To give him the tiniest crumbs of credit, I think he recognized that there was an issue and tried to fix it, but because he's Phil and doesn't understand anything and lack critical thinking, he completely misidentified the issue. That's why he can claim his content is so much more mature and chill because he doesn't talk about fucking women, while at the same time telling viewers to eat the shit out of his ass with a spoon.

It's basically like if someone at YouTube told Phil he needed to stop calling his viewers morons or he'd lose monetization. At the risk of beating a dead horse, I think it happening around Khet is more because Khet was sort of a general rebranding period for Phil as opposed to Khet influencing anything herself. Him moving Khet in was also when he tried to push the "chill and positive, not a drama streamer" vibes. I think my biggest issue with that particular theory is it implies Khet cares or notices what Phil does at all. It's not like Khet is obsessively hovering over him when he streams, intently listening to everything he says, reading chat to make sure there's no mention of sexuality whatsoever. Heck, she doesn't even waddle out of the house with him on the one day he briefly interacts with the rest of the world. If she was incredibly jealous and possessive, I think she'd at least want to go with him to make sure he's not within 50 feet of another woman.
