Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

Not personally mad at this but it doesn't deserve its own thread.

Say hello to Yet Another Terminal Emulator: Warp!

Rust, eh? Does it come with a free neovagina?

OSX only! :stress:

Maybe if you didn't use some retarded tranny language you wouldn't need to write literally everything from the ground up.

It isn't even open source either, they're just using GitHub as an issue tracker

Server portion? I thought this was just a terminal emulator! From the FAQ

Amazing. It also sends back telemetry (associated with your username, cannot be disabled) that is so exhaustive you might as well have these fuckers standing over your shoulder watching you.

The cherry on top of all of this:

Forget what I said earlier, I am fucking mad now.

Whatever happened to using st, urxvt, or xterm? You know, terminal emulators that get the job done! Why the fuck do people have to come up with new terminal emulators to do stupid shit?

I hate programs that pop into focus or throw a dialog box into focus when it's done doing something.

Windows itself does this sometimes. Start moving files from one folder to another folder/drive/thumbstick and go back to typing into a document or whatever. Later the fucking folder pops into focus and starts eating keyboard input. Pressing ctrl-f and typing to find something and accidentally activating windows search is annoying but god forbid you were pressing ctrl-z because who knows what will happen. Sometimes it does this, not always, just sometimes with no rhyme or reason as far as I can tell.

They're rust devs - all the HRT treatments have fried their brains, especially the part that tries to figure out "is this a good idea?"

I'm pretty shocked I didn't see Windows 11 mentioned. The requirements alone are insane as it's basically 10 with a few default security settings changed. and an OSX-ish taskbar. They also took away the clock seconds on the taskbar and there's no way to make it show without a 3rd party app. I also saw a list of installed OS's and Windows 8 (!!!) has a higher install base than 11 still.

VyprVPN was also one of the worst. It would break things like Windows store completely and if you put in a ticket they'd leave it open basically forever and sometimes things got fixed and sometimes never did.

I used to have a computer that couldn't handle W10 very well (tho this was during the times where my younger self wasn't quite as aware of doing some basic housekeeping on the system side of things until something shit the bed) and the clock with the big font when you click the date/time to pull up the calendar was quite handy in telling me if Windows suddenly hung up whenever I had to step out of my room. My current build is much more sleek and stable (my actual first time having a SSD for a system drive, and damn is it nice) but leaving the calendar up whenever I left my room became muscle memory/force of habit by now. My dad for some reason upgraded his W10 laptop to 11 and checking it out they gimped the calendar out of this rather trivial but really good function. Kinda gay.

I use LineageOS on my phones, I like it. Last night I upgraded to LOS 19.1 which is based off of Android 12 and it has some of the ugliest UI I've ever seen. Thankfully I can downgrade, but to do so I have to completely wipe the phone and reinstall everything. I'm using my backup phone until I get around to it.

Windows 11 is entirely about Microsoft tightening the leash around you. "You will own nothing" etc.

They want to aggressively track everybody for some fucking reason.
I think BlueStacks legit fucked up my PC. Whenever I had it installed, my PC would often take ages to start up. This was not a problem whenever I did not have it installed.
There has to be a way to stop it from loading when you start your computer. What OS do you have?

At my new job, one of my roles is Salesforce admin/developer.

I had never used Salesforce prior to working here, and god damn some of the ways it works are completely baffling - standard objects are tightly locked down and uneditable, except when they aren’t. Custom objects offer more freedom, except when they don’t, because you can’t put certain types of data on custom objects.

Don’t even get me started on the fact that they have 2 different ways to create email templates; 4 different ways to create auto-notifications; or the fact that you can’t add fields to the Tasks object, you have to add them to the Activities object but then you have to set up the record page in the Tasks object. I still can’t figure out how Loops work in their automated processes, because they don’t work like a For loop in any other system I’ve used. Also, the fact that you can’t remove certain items from certain objects, even if you don’t want to track that info. Oh, and you can use regex for validation but not in any formulas, meaning you can make sure someone entered a phone #, but can’t automate a process to delete spam without making a huge decision tree.

Also, they have a debugger for setting up automated processes, but half of the things you’d want to test - certain screen elements, whether emails send properly, testing the same process wih 5 examples to make sure it’s actually robust - all don’t work in the debugger.

The number of times I’ve had my boss ask me if something is possible, and I’ve said “it should be”, only to find out that it WOULD be possible with some other data type or on some other screen or after taking 6 hours to build a custom process is insane.

anyway, rant over. Salesforce has its good features, but seriously, the Lightning overlay makes you expect it to behave like a modern web app, but the fact that it clearly has all the old stuff underpinning it makes it act completely different. It would be nice if they overhauled the whole thing

I just had to download another version of Calculator because the one that comes with Windows 10 got corrupted and stopped working. The Photos app also did this a few weeks ago, forcing me to switch over to fucking third party software. At least with the calculator I was able to just get the Windows XP one off of the Internet Archive, but come on!

That sounds really unhealthy, you sure your system is alright?
Scans and such don't come across anything serious, everything seems to be working fine. There are pages of threads of people suffering from the same issue too.

Windows 10 has been so irritating to use so far that it doesn't really surprise me honestly.

I don’t know if anyone else is going to feel my pain here and I might just be waving my fist at the wind, but I had to help a friend set up a Square account and their UI sucks balls.

My friend has made a hobby of wholesaling key machines around the US. To keep track of transactions, he opened a Square account I helped him set up and I’ve basically made myself responsible for checking on it.

First of all, I don’t receive notifications.

No, I don’t mean I turned off notifications or opted out of them, I mean the app does not offer notifications. How the hell am I supposed to tell someone’s placed an order for a machine? I have to manually open the app and check for an order. Every. Single. Time. It doesn’t seem that inconvenient, but for a bleeding-edge financial service, you’d think they’d be able to offer a tool that’s been around since the dawn of the internet.

Second, the descriptions don’t fit.

“What the hell does that even mean?” When I open up the transactions I have to manually check on updates for, I can never tell exactly what machine specs the customer has requested because the description box on the app only has enough space for 20-odd characters.

The Sims 2 Bodyshop.

It uses 99% of my computer’s 16 gb of RAM upon startup. When I click the desktop icon my entire PC is literally unusable for about 10 minutes. After the program starts the memory usage goes back to normal but I have to deal with my PC having a meltdown every time I want to use this thing, which is a lot since I like making Sims 2 mods. Once I had enough browser tabs and stuff open that the entire PC just shut off because it ran out of memory trying to get Bodyshop to stop having an autistic tard tantrum. I think it’s a hardware issue because I’ve tried installing it on other less powerful Windows 10 systems like my work laptop and it doesn’t shit itself on those. The Sims 2 proper also takes several minutes to start up when I click on it but doesn’t demand all my RAM as a sacrifice to the custom content gods so I can still do things in the background while I wait.

At least you managed to upgrade it without problems, mine got stuck in reboot loop. :(

Thank god I didn't fully brick the phone as I managed to downgrade it to the previous version, but some features like auto-rotation and the proximity sensor thing no longer works for some reason. *sigh*
