Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

The issue for me would actually be convincing anyone to move over. People I know even shovel money to discord for server boosts that give you trivial shit like emojis and custom banners, stuff that used to be free on the old web.
Discord Nitro is one of the worst possible things to spend money on. Why on earth would anyone pay for a platform with shit development let alone for some basic features that should be available is beyond me. This has to be "furries supporting furries" kind of shit.
Yes, the android UI is changed and it's worse. It looks bland but not only that, it's less seamless in various ways. It's UI was taken from the iOS version, I heard.

Sadly not just that. Plenty of people just have no idea or do not care about how stupid supporting this company is. A lot of them also pay for shit like Youtube Premium.

Spotify
- shit audio quality
- SHIT apps (especially the last 2 major updates theyve done)
TIDAL
- great audio quality
- great app design but a buggier mess than anything else i have ever used, especially the tvOS app, which doesnt let you pause/stop music

of course the obvious answer is to just pirate flacs and use some other audio player, but i like being able to discover some new shit at random, something i would never have thought to download

I use the free music podcasts in the genre I'm interested in to discover new music. Producers and DJs who make them release new episodes every week typically.

My niggas who use ATMEL Studio 7 know the pain of this absolute piece of shit.

A tip for anyone who needs/wants to develop for an ATMEL chip (and wants to use an IDE), use the vMicro Visual Studio add on.
- It handles all of the ATMEL toolchain for you.
- It supports regular VS Solution files.
- It makes the development environment more portable.
- It doesn't take literally 3 hours to install.

What happened to desktop email clients?
the mail client bundled with macOS Catalina used to be the best fucking thing ive ever used, and since Big Sur its been dumbed down significantly (along with the rest of the OS) to fall in line with all the other clients. I still use it now because its better than anything else, especially since thunderbird turned to complete shit sometime between now and when i stopped using it 6-7 years ago.

Ive looked at doing this, but the algorithms built in to spotify/tidal are so good for finding shit i like, for better or for worse. I guess this is how (((they))) keep you paying for their services

Yeah I guess the recommender system in Spotify makes it easier to find new stuff you may like. I abhor the service after a bunch of songs from some playlists I had created were suddenly greyed out and unplayable. That was what made me drop using it for anything.

Have you got any recommendations for media server software? I currently have a plex server and could just use that but wondering if you knew of anything better and more purpose-built

My choice would be Jellyfin. I think it was discussed earlier in this thread and others here and it's really good for what it does. It's quite flexible too as you can install it for your native OS or through docker depending on the kind of server you use.

Fucking Android is pissing me of
Got a new Tablet as a Christmas present by my family, browsing and watching a YouTube video at the same time, and then this happened:

What the fuck.
Watching videos on tha tablet itself does this as well. What you see in the image is a browser, that barely reacts when you open it.

Can anyone tell me why Android is so shitty?

That's not the OS's fault, that's either bad ram, or more likely the graphics processor overheating and shitting the bed. Take it back and get a refund.

I received an RCA tablet from family back in 2015, and the same thing happened. Yeah shit hardware will do that, often.

Jellyfin media server.
Sold as Plex but better. Tablet wont play the same media Plex has no problem playing on it. When told of their softwares failure, they sperg the fuck out at you with such gems as "i do this as a hobby" "at least it does not collect your data". I am really tired of open source activists recomending provably inferior software. Why can't it be Open Source and fucking good?

glibc. Not software per se but it has fucked lots of other software up since last year where they randomly deprecated the DT_HASH function in favor of DT_GNU_HASH which they had available for sixteen fucking years without bothering to move everyone on from the old one, and as a result they not only broke random games like Shovel Knight on linux but managed to break EAC on linux due to Ebin Games being fuckdumb.

MSI Afterburner and whatever it is based on is using that horrible chink UI that they used for motherboard related software in the early 2000s. It's like a Kai Krause nightmare. JDownloader and Media Downloader(both are non CLI Youtube-DLP alternatives) also have very mysterious design choices.
