That substance abuse issue is the only thing that makes him watchable or relevant. He talks a big game about his political science degree, but there is no way he doesn't hear how stupid he sounds when he talks politics.... when he has anything to say at all. I think he genuinely believes he's a good writer, so he might try that sober for a while after realizing the Kill Report ain't shit without substance abuse.
Don't forget: Ralph considers himself a tabloid journalist, which (for piggy) involves a lot of a dude on camera throwing stones at more successful people. Oversharing is how he puts some windows in that broken-glass shack of his. What is he going to do when Wings points out that he is married while Ralph is alone? Not bring up his last lay?
