Not really, I knew a few. I wasn't all broken up over OJ gutting that (((White))) woman like a fish. I think all the attention paid to it pissed me off, and it was at a weird time when a real racial skirmish felt like it might happen. I was a freshly minted "adult" around that time, so I remember a bit more what was going on. The Rodney King stuff, the oj stuff, the riots, and the Reginald Denny stuff as well. Was more, if they convict this nigger the entire state might get burned down. It was played by the media as a black v white thing, when it was more a cheating wife vs pissed off husband thing.
Now i'm not proud of my thoughts on it back then, not at all, but it was more "fuck this cheating whore, she got what she deserved" Now I see it much differently, and the follow up where he got involved in stealing some sports shit, and got hit with a 30 year sentence (and served like 10) I was more pissed at this dumb dude for fucking up again.

I was also a school kid during the verdict, it was definitely on every public TV in restaurants, lobbies, bars, etc…but not elementary classrooms. Some High School students got teachers to pull in the TV cart to watch it , but most skipped class if they wanted to see it live, but that’s teenage kids not elementary school.
I don’t believe an elementary school teacher had her 4th grade class watch a trial verdict about a black guy murdering his wife. Elementary Schools would have kept that on the TV in the office and teachers lounge, not a classroom. I could believe some might tell their students about the verdict afterwards.
The verdict was a big deal, and adults did stop what they were doing to watch it, but it wasn’t for little kids. You think 9 year old Ethan was also reading The National Enquirer updates every week too? He barely has the reading comprehension now to keep up with reading news stories. I’m sure Sandra left tabloids laying around the house and he looked at the pictures. Kernels of truth.
Some of you might not remember TVs being scarce cumbersome resources in the 90’s. It was a pretty big deal to pull that TV cart into the front of class to watch something. I don’t believe elementary schools students watched it in class. I do believe Ethan would be home with mommy to watch it. Sandra let Gunt drop out of school in Jr High ffs. If little Ethan wanted to stay home to watch the verdict with mommy, she would have let him. He watched soap operas with her too.

I think your time frame is a little off there, channel one started getting rolled out in the early early 90s, and they had put them in most schools. My tiny little shit rural town had em when i was a freshman in 1990, so by the time the OJ stuff happened they would have be pretty standard all over. It was on little monitors iirc, right beside the intercom.

Your tiny rural shit town had it because it was out of Tennessee and poor shit rural school districts (or poor ghetto schools) were targeted first because they were the easiest to get into. They started with schools desperate for any resources that would welcome a marketing scam just to get free TVs!!!! and content to show students.

Its funny, I was in my early teens at the time and I remember thinking he was innocent untill the DNA evidence was presented. After that I stopped following the trial. Funny thing is, kinda like how the NG kept cali from burning down, it might have also saved my life.
The day of, I had skipped school. At the time I lived in miami and would sometimes skip and just take busses to explore the city. That day I got on the wrong bus and didnt realise it till I saw we were goung into liberty city. I figured I'd just stay on the bus until it came back out again. When I didnt get off at the last stop before crossing under I95, the driver, and older black man waved me over and told me sit right behind him. I figured he was just worried about this gangly white boy getting fucked with.
After we got back to the station the driver pulked me aside and asked if I was crazy or stupid. I got confused and he told me that the OJ verdict dropped as the bus was in liberty city. Hed been listening to trial coverage on a little transistor radio. I had no clue the verdict was dropping that day, I just wanted to skip school.
