What he needs is a chemical detox because his body will go into all kinds of shock from withdrawals that requires medical observation and attention more often than not.

He needs both, and people at AA will direct him to detox and probably drive him there if he wants to go. But detox alone will not save him.

I won't go into extensive detail about the pros and cons of AA. This is just my opinion but I think he would benefit more from CBT (one on one time with a therapist to address his issues). But again, that requires the willpower to commit to something like that and he's severely lacking. You can add "getting sober" to the list of Ralph's so called "I'M WORKIN' ON IT!" commitments.

The best addiction therapists I’ve encountered tell their patients the same thing (paraphrase): “If you’re going to do either therapy or AA, do AA. Those people can help you in ways I can’t, and a network is better than a node.” Ralph has no fucking friends and no idea how to have fun without being drunk or high. It’s been his MO since he was a child. He needs to start hanging out with tough but empathetic sober guys who will still bust his chops but will not chase after him if he starts crying about it.

His problem lies therein again with his quickness to giving up. I'm not discouraging having a support network for this purpose, but there are other alternatives (SMART being just one example. They even offer online meetings). I think a combination of things such as Acamprosate, less enabling by Meigh, distancing himself from other mitigating factors and eating healthier/exercise, anything to curb his sedentary lifestyle, you get the idea.

This however belies a much bigger conundrum for him: his audience are his primary enablers as they are the ones who fund his addiction and his audience + groyper faggots only encourage this further. He doesn't necessarily need to hit rock bottom, god knows he already has a couple of times, but given what has happened to him in the past year hasn't been a wake up call, I don't know if anything ever will.

The best is when he tries to conceal his addictions by using plastic cups or taking drinks off camera. That and that although he said he wants to limit his smoking, he said he has no issues with edibles. So at that point it's just obfuscating how many gummies he's taking since it may not be as obvious to the average audience member.

I didn’t know he’d gone to AA. Honestly even if he keeps drinking, he’s better off continuing going to the meetings. “Keep coming back” is an AA slogan for a reason, and it applies as much (if not more) to active alcoholics than to anyone else.

Wasn't it shortly after The Pillstream Era that he went to AA? IIRC he held up a chip at one point. Not sure if it was a sober chip or a "I went to a meeting" chip though.

There’s no chip for going to a meeting (they don’t call roll, you don’t sign in or give a name). The 24 coin is the most basic. The next one is 30 days, then 60, 90, and one year onward. If you relapse you go back for a 24 hour coin, even if you had 80 years sober up till then.

So I’m guessing it was a 24 hour chip.

So, came in here to dump a little interesting facts for newfags.

August 9th is Boulderversary, the day Mundane Matt ruined his career on the Gunt Retort by being a Soy-Filled Bitch and showed that he had been flagging Dame Pesos. An interesting thing about the stream is
1) How humble and reasonable Ralph used to sound before his Gunt burrowed its way into his body and then his brain
2)How popular e-celbs used to appear on the show before the fat, alcoholic pig chased them away.

This killed Matt's career. His career was dying before this and this was the final nail in the coffin. He tried to ignore the drama and keep chugging, but all he was getting were hate comments. Fun fact: Today, all of Matt's videos are still on his channel, he just unlisted them - except beloved children's character, Poley the Polar Bear. I went and found one if people want to view the comments. You can see that this was when the controversy was a little old, people were still talking about it, and it seemed like people were accusing Matt for buying bot comments.

If this was a highlight of your career, you might do something with it, and Ralph did....for like a year or two. I think it was the following year, but Ralph got a bunch of people on, including Dame Pesos and Ralph released a call he made to Matt to troll him onto coming on.

And that was it. A smart thing to have done was to do a yearly celebration and see where everyone is now. Make it something fun. Instead Ralph is lazy and barely did shit and one year, he outsourced Boulderversary to Warski and him and Kyler did a boring stream of watching Matt shop for Christmas presents at Walgreens. That's not even considering the fights with people like Daddy Gym, Keemstar, and Gator that made them distance themselves from the show that have made The Gunt Retort a shell of its former self.

It was a fun time to be on the internet. Of course it was gay, but it was exciting. Any time you can get people to take sides and fling shit at each other like that is a good time imo.

I still really want to see a stream with @Kenny🐍Jones and @CECA Loather . CECA expressed interest in it.

As far as cohosts, @PhoBingas once hosted a great alog stream with Kenny and others while sniping Ralph. I think Pho said he's too busy to stream these days, sadly.
