-Assert that the elite are all entangled in an Illuminati-style Satanic pedophile cult and leave secret symbols everywhere.

Some news articles even showed the reasoning for the conspiracy but dismissed it pretty bad as such nitpicking and scribbles. A part of Pizzagate is how its believers used signs as a show of evidence of it being real, but that came to just be a part of pop culture at the time and was mocked on shows (especially tv show hosts). Given this and how Hollywood was one of Pizzagate's connections in terms of evidence, the people there would have at least heard some of it. Like as just a joke or when watching tv late at night. Though, the FBI document is more underground and wasn't covered all that much so I see why nobody would hear of it on the surface level. But it's there if anyone digs a bit into it.
EDIT: It's likely that the artist was just told to put it in and didn't know much about it. So I do agree that's a possibility too.

You can even hear I think Jon Stewart or whoever that Comedy Show nighthost and a few others talk shit about it and say that the codes used to reach such conclusions were a sign of them being crazy. If we're just talking pure tv like in CNN, FOX News, or NBC, then the exact symbology wasn't discussed so the artist may not have known at all about that if he was just browsing tv. Though, with all connected everything is, it's a given that he did hear of it even though he may have dismissed it. if he is connected with Hollywood then it's stronger or if he lives in America.

The reason why this case is different though is just the overlapping similarities with the logos and its connections to the movie.

Now if I'm going to be completely honest some of this shit does seem crazy some not. However the point of this thread (or at least what I think the point of this thread should be) isn't to debate whether any of these claims hold any water or not. It's just to laugh at people who obviously take too far to an extent where they're dumb enough to attempt to shoot up a pizzeria. People shouldn't go into r/Incels thread and debate whether or not society has dealt them a fair deal not. Nor should people go into the TDS thread to debate about the validity of TDS if it's a real thing or not. You shouldn't keep getting into slapfights with people like this. True, I think. There might not have been much coverage of it on tv back then. I do remember there being a huge disparity between online and tv coverage like it was only covered for 2-3 days I think with 1 day for pizzagate shooting and the days after focusing on how to stop "alt-right fearmongering" along those lines. You are right in that he would not have known if he was just watching tv or primarily one. Though, considering how the internet is almost a integral part of work now, he would be a bit more informed on it at least. Not to the degree as someone here might be though so he may likely have not known much about it all like you said. He might have just known a bit more about the rundown on it. An artist, I guess, could be liable to just focus more on the art than the controversy surrounding it.
The client is a bit different from the artist, that's what I have to say on it.

As an absolute matter of total and complete fact, Pizzagate was never “debunked.” What happened was that the media said it was debunked, without ever addressing any of the primary claims.

The most primary claim is that there is clearly coded language used in the John Podesta emails. (Regrettably, WikiLeaks is being DDoS’d right now, so I’m gonna have to use crappy screenshots – but we’re all familiar with these famous emails.)
