I understand their aim to make gaming more social, and I think this works a bit better than trophies. I'd rather be able to see a funny clip of my friend doing something stupid in his game, than have a trophy notification interrupt the cinematic I'm watching to congratulate me on completing the game's first mission, since that totally deserves a trophy.Melchett said:Does anybody else feel like they're just adding bells and whistles to something that really doesn't need it? I mean a "share button"? Why?! It's so unnecessary. And why do we need touchscreens on everything?
I don't know if this falls into the clinical purview of "hoarding", but Chris is definitely obsessed with the past, and the more things slip away the more he'll try to hold on to it through collecting crap and fantasy. He might not hoard a ton of physical objects, but he'll rearrange his living space to be a lair into which he can retreat, which I think is part of hoarding mentality.Marvin said:Sure, that's a possibility. Although I don't know if he really is interested in anything that he could hoard that would cause problems like with Barb. He might develop the mental defects that hoarders have, but it's not like he cares about furniture or whatever stuff Barb is hoarding. It'd take awhile for him to fill the house with my little pony dolls and whatever else crap he's into nowadays.CatParty said:but for some reason i can see him becoming a hoarder once barb goes. the trauma of his life crumbling around him and trying to hold on to everything in his old existence may be enough to spark such a psychological change
Oh yeah, if high school memories had a physical embodiment that Chris could hoard, he'd be just as bad as Barb. They'd be fighting over places to put their hoarded crap.Alec Benson Leary said:I don't know if this falls into the clinical purview of "hoarding", but Chris is definitely obsessed with the past, and the more things slip away the more he'll try to hold on to it through collecting crap and fantasy. Chris isn't going to stop being Chris. Hoarders hoard things they find interesting or useful. Their line of thought is "hmm, this might be useful later..." except they do it constantly.CatParty said:but what i'm saying is that the urge could be latent and once she's gone it could come about. it will be devastating for him once she's gone. will he have the will to get rid of the things that remind him of her? he may say it, but we won't really know once it all happens.

Before they know it, you can only get through their house by passing through little tunnels through all the junk. Chris doesn't have an interest in anything large enough to clog up the house.
Now, I guess maybe he could completely turn around and develop some inverse personality who really likes antique furniture. Hell, maybe he could drive his car through the game place. All sorts of crazy things could happen and I can't say they won't happen. But I can say, based on what the public knows and what I know, that some things are unlikely to happen.
Surtur said:As a PC Gamer, I am unimpressed by the Quadruple. When the fanboys started touting its APU as "high end" I busted out laughing. My my mid range rig, that has now two year old tech in it, is more powerful, and that's sad. Also, I am back compatible with every game ever. I'm sure Chris will still gobble it up though.
Sometimes, sure. But it's not like we can make any predictions about the surprising things. We can only make predictions about the ordinary stuff he does.CatParty said:true, true. what we have learned is that if anything, chris has been known to do surprising things.
Well, sure, if I had video games and cared about video games, I wouldn't sell them. I'd sell things I didn't care about. And yeah, he sold them because he needed money.punchabunch said:From my recollection Mavin, when he does toss things out for some dough he seems to toss out things that are in quite poor condition anyways. His motives for doing it are also to pocket any cash for them rather then selling some to simply get rid of them. The key to getting rid of clutter if you suspect you have even a bit of a hoarding impulse is to take a good look at a few objects that you keep because they might be usefull someday and say "I am never going to use this"
