I don't think there's any risk that anyone who mocks her for being a total nutcase is ever going to want a closer look at her potato face. She should be fairly safe.

Short term is, Animal alters are real, but they're purely in function if the brain sees so fit.
If something seems too tumblr to be true, it probably is. Because DID is mostly covert, and not a persona game.

Edit: And if some of them are real, they're seriously putting themselves at risk. If one of them was even a protective alter, they're a damn dumb protective alter.

And as I'm a psychoanalytical cunt, I don't see any real venting benefit of posting "Oh god being multiple is so hard" on SM instead of in your diary.
