It's pretty simple, if you strip meaning from life and decide your own morality, all you have to do is give yourself permission.

I don't believe it's that simple. No normal person could reason themselves into committing a heinous and senseless crime such as this, because normal people have the requisite empathy to make such an act unthinkable. Something has to be seriously wrong with someone in order for them to be able to "grant themselves permission" to purposefully kill innocent people, let alone do it; especially when they have faced no pressure to do so.

There's a difference between killing a bunch of people then yourself because you hate your life and want to die, and killing a bunch of people and yourself because you think they're a threat to your people and you're martyring yourself.
