Smack down!

This is fantastic, lots of idiots and salt from people who hate it. I'm not sure why Pokemon Go seems more acceptable to the general public than the main series is. There's 40 year olds who have no nostalgia towards the original games playing this like crazy, is it more acceptable because it is a free phone game?

Do these people ever stop? Is there any time at all during the day when one of them does something vaguely pointless, non political or SJW crusading that they personally enjoy for no other reason that they enjoy doing it? Can they have a cup of tea without fretting over the plight of impoverished tea pickers in India, even though the tea they're actually drinking is organic and locally grown? Or am I just asking a tiresome rhetorical question when I already know that the answer is "no"?

^ i've heard plenty of young kids excitedly nattering away to their parents about type strengths and weaknesses (and for once they're actually listening). why not use this opportunity to use your ~amazing pokemon knowledge~ and educate people on something you're fucking interested in?

oh wait - then he cant bitch and get buttflustered on facebook.

This thread is one of the greatest CW threads I've seen in a while. So people were playing Pokemon Go at the Arlington National Cemetary and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Wait, it doesn't end there. Someone apparently found another dead body while playing Pokemon Go...near a New Hampshire Holocaust memorial.

I think people should be allowed to enjoy this game, but people are being very obsessive and not using common sense. If you wouldn't go anywhere at a certain time normally, why would you do it just for a video game. Not to mention, why are you playing video games at a Holocaust memorial? I can't tell who's the bigger speds, people who obsessive over the game or people who go out of their way to criticize the game.

haha here's an article about a promising young trainer who put on his pajama pants and hopped on his bike and went on a safari zone adventure right in front of a police station wallpapered with his WANTED posters:

MILFORD, MI (WXYZ/CNN) - A Pokemon Go player with a warrant out for his arrest went to the police station to play the game and got arrested.

William Wilcox was riding his bike in his pajamas and playing Pokemon Go, when he found himself at the flagpole outside the Milford Police Department building.

The police station is a gym in the popular mobile game, and in this case literally led a known criminal right to their doorstep.

"Fortunately, sometimes they make our job easy for us," Milford Police Chief Tom Lindberg said. "The original charge he had was for breaking and entering, but the warrant was for failure to appear for sentencing. He either forgot he had a warrant out for his arrest or was just ignoring it thinking nothing will happen."

Several officers recognized Wilcox and arrested him on the spot.

"I think he was more upset that he had to stop playing the game," Lindberg said.

Wilcox was arraigned and has been released. He will be back in court again in a couple of weeks.

Lindberg said Pokemon Go players need to be conscious of where they are and stay out of the way of officers.

"Don't just walk into the police building and start playing the game," Lindberg said. "Most of those characters will appear outside the building."

Seen this asked a couple of times in this thread, so I will just throw in my two cents.

Basically, Pokemon Go kinda boils Pokemon down to the bare basics of what made the franchise so successful in the first place: The appeal of finding, catching, and raising up adorable creatures to be a part of your team. That formula is a proven winner, as is evident from Pokemon's success overall.

Now, most 40 year olds or normies don't own a 3DS (and wouldn't be caught dead playing one in public), but they do all have smart phones. And since the Pokemon formula has a pretty damn broad appeal, if they try it they will probably like it. Then they tell their friends, etc, and suddenly you have the madness we see today.

The fuck is "EV training"?

'EV' stands for 'effort value', and they are a set of hidden stats in the main Pokemon games.
They are really only things you need to worry about if you plan to battle competitively. Only hardcore Smogon fans bother with them.
