What’s frustrating is because of the UK football theme nature of the game and needing to get sponsored to even hang in the league, to say nothing of the big leagues, they could have absolutely just focused on the league. Especially when all the characters are focused on it.
If I were designing pocketmons world, the protagonists would be at least 18, the pokemon would be very non-human, and there'd be no marriages between people and pocketmons?
They must have seen the success they had with the fake out Team Skull and Aether Corporation had in Gen 7, so they decided to do it again for Team Yell in Gen 8...and Team Star in Gen 9. Team Star is such a non factor I wouldn't even consider them a villain team at all, everything about them is extremely cringe. Thank goodness I never plan on playing gen 9.

did you play the dlc? he was always a douche. his personality in kitakami is depression-induced. he becomes very angry that you're better than him at pokemon. he's the classic angry rival, but he takes it too far (in story) and is punished for his behavior. the lore with drayton and him is pretty good.

Why are we debating the worst Gen 2 Pokemon like it's uknown? We all know it's unown.
I guess they most they've done is give villains a Crobat and expecting people to pog at their character development despite never showing any of it to the player. But honestly actually exploring that relationship requires the pokemon to be characters, they have done this with the noble pokemon in PLA but it's still not a lot as they mostly just function like the box legendaries who're just plot devices and don't have any character as individuals.There was a leaked document where GF employees discussed that they wanted their stories to explore the relationship between humans and Pokemon, but what exploration is happening exactly? Every single game has the exact same theme of "humans and Pokemon can do anything as long as they work together!", it's not an exploration insomuch as it is beating you over the head repeatedly with the same powah of fwendship plot most kids media has.

As someone who tried making it work for years, I can confirm that this is probably the shittiest Gen 2 Pokemon and one of the worst Pokemon overall. It does nothing in competitive and it does nothing even in the story mode. Wasted concept, should have made it a bug/fighting and amped it's physical attack so at the very least it would have a niche.
