I agree with most of it and the player is an arse to Keiran, but that's a bit much isn't it, unless I'm forgetting something? You mean when you're asked not to tell him? You've known him like 24 hours, can see he's overly emotional and attached, and one of the only adults he respects asks you not to.
Yeah. And then we see explaining things takes 5 seconds and is not world ending. And the better option was obviously telling him straight up. And you don’t get a choice to stick up for him.

It’s not like the truth is he was Orgepon, which is honestly where I thought It might have gone. Would have explained the grsndpa not wanting to explain everything. Would have explainex him being the only one to like Orgepon, would have explained why he seemed to be an outsider.

can’t see, ‘yeah you aren’t actually human’ going over well.

I agree we are a bad friend, although like I said tbf this IS just a kid we met in the past day on a school trip, but I'm just not sure that everyone would say we're a huge liar.

The Ogrepon story could have been interesting. The timeline would fuck it a bit but I'm sure they could have tweaked it. I didn't actually mind Ogrepons half of the story though, the old man with the masks and stuff. It was more the loyal three bit that was lame (and they suck as legendaries too)

I honestly hate how all games are like ‘everything is in discord’ now.
You sure man?
Yeah, they’d probably look like the Gen 5 Water Gym Leader if they removed buts of their uniform lol.

You forced him to stand up for himself by being an absolute dick to him.
did we also force him to become such a dickhead to other classmates that DIDN'T do anything to him that he started bullying them? that's retarded. he's responsible for choosing to be a bitchboy when he didn't catch ogerpon. did we make him assume that people had excluded him on purpose, when it was just people talking to one another in a group that he happened not to be a part of? did we make him steal the mask? did we make him act like a faggot sore loser after he challenged us for the mask back? is it our fault that ogerpon literally chooses to follow the player instead of kieran during the time where it's searching for its masks? why wasn't kieran joining us to help? ogerpon chooses us as the trainer it wants, which is its own decision. kieran challenges you AGAIN to a battle, you beat him fair and square, earning ogerpon even on his own terms.

kieran did this to himself by never asking anyone anything, never trying to be a good person during the kitakami arc, and taking on battles he couldn't win. he's a great character, and i love his story, but he is absolutely, prior to being humbled by the PC, at the very least misguided.

Speaking of Aqua/Magma...

It never made sense to me how the team that's all about land has a base underwater and a team that's all about water goes to a volcano to fuck shit up.

If I remember correctly, Emerald fixes this to where you're facing both teams and you face them in their appropriate locations, but even in ORAS they fuck this up. Why even make the same mistakes as R/S if you're going to add elements from Emerald anyway?

These are the same guys who were sure the red orb was what would wake Kyogre and vice versa. There's no lore about how it contains part of the spirit of Groudon or whatever to draw him out. I'm still not sure why they didn't try the other orbs first, other than being retards.

They spend a bunch of time at the Ocean. They're tanned, not black.
Yeah, they’d probably look like the Gen 5 Water Gym Leader if they removed buts of their uniform lol.
Anime characters have a severe case of sameface syndrome so it's hard to tell if they're tan or brown, but Marlon has a tan line and team Aqua don't so I'm leaning towards brown in their case.

Saw some of the Centro posts get hit with a takedown from Nintendo. Don’t know why it took them this long to start swinging the hammer considering their track record.
not nintendo or gamefreak. centro is just a retarded nigger. it's shopro, who handle the anime production. they are dmcaing the anime shit.

Elon makes you jump through hoops now for stuff like that rather than being automatic. They'll still bend the knee though.
centro is a nigger reposting shit from a discord that hates him so much they watermark images with 'centro is a faggot'. he's been doxed and facedoxed over this shit because he's such a disliked person.

but I'm just not sure that everyone would say we're a huge liar.
We aren’t. It’s just exasperated by his sister existing and his view of the situation. To him we crushed his entire world and got praised and rewarded. Probably banged his sister as well.
The timeline would fuck it a bit but I'm sure they could have tweaked it.
I’m sure they could’ve. It’s not like the timeline matters after ORAS Delta episode confirming there is straight up 3. It is malleable. Like the Zelda one. An intended and planned idea but if everything doesn’t line up exact they won’t worry too much, And if they have to just make another to make sure everything is clean and simple they will.
It was more the loyal three bit that was lame (and they suck as legendaries too)
I was fully expecting Kieran punching the rock and releasing them to result in him getting controlled by the peach thing we meet in Part 2 and it to have been revealed the Loyal 3 where Orgepon’s friends but got turned evil. Very sad when we got nothing.
did we also force him to become such a dickhead to other classmates that DIDN'T do anything to him that he started bullying them?
If everything in his life has shown him ‘being dick is strong’ including the ace at his school and his school prides itself on that. His environment did and we willingly and knowingly helped with that.
did we make him assume that people had excluded him on purpose.
Yes because they did and we were told not to tell him stuff multiple times. It’s why he’s so mad when he finds out we’ve been hiding stuff from him. He straight asks us if we are before that and we tell him no. He asks because he knows he can’t trust his sister but thinks he can trust us. And we lie.
is it our fault that ogerpon literally chooses to follow the player instead of kieran during the time where it's searching for its masks?
Yeah. Cause at no point does the player go ‘hey, I don’t know you but this kid knows you and can probably help more’ and the only reason it follows us is because he never got to meet Kieran at the same time because his sister is a cunt.
why wasn't kieran joining us to help?
Because you, his sister and his grandfather had repeatedly excluded him. Why would he help people that made it clear they don’t want help? Even though he is the best suited to do so.
kieran did this to himself by never asking anyone anything,
He routinely asks people loads of things. They are deliberately not honest with him. He keeps asking people to include him in stuff and they keep going no.

It’s ehy i foolishly assumed there had to be a big reveal with him planned to explain why everyone kept hiding stuff.
never trying to be a good person during the kitakami arc,
He was trying to be a good person. It’s him seeing that people not being gets rewarded that causes him to snap. And again, he is the only reason Orgepon is ever allowed in that village.

And then he says Orgepon can go with you. Which is funny because the entire reason Orgepon wants to is to fight. And Kieran and his sister are high ranking trainers at a school where that is all you do at a level that is clearly higher than our school.

Oh, I thought YOU were saying that. Got it.

No I mean Keiran is a tween and Ogrepon has been there hundreds of years lol. But they could say he had some sort of Zoroark style illusion and amnesia going on, to protect himself from his memories and give him a chance to be an insider not an outsider or whatever.

I was fully expecting Kieran punching the rock and releasing them to result in him getting controlled by the peach thing we meet in Part 2 and it to have been revealed the Loyal 3 where Orgepon’s friends but got turned evil. Very sad when we got nothing.
I still haven't played that because the nsp didn't work for me. Pecharunt is actually pretty decent too isn't he? Some middling stats other than a pretty good defence but his ability sounds pretty cool. If you poison with him, they get confused too, right?

His design is a little dull but I'm all for cool poison types. Ice, Bug etc might still suck overall, but we still don't REALLY have a poison Volcarona, do we?

If everything in his life has shown him ‘being dick is strong’ including the ace at his school and his school prides on that, his enviroment dud and we willingly and knowingly helped with that.
the player doesn't visit blueberry until after kitakami, so that doesn't make sense. how would we knowingly do anything involving kieran? we met him 20 minutes ago in the dlc. he's not like, your best friend from the past.

Yes because they did and we were told not to tell him stuff multiple times. It’s why he’s somad when he finds out we’ve been lhiding stuff from him.
your player character is a child. they're doing what they're told by an adult. i don't know why that's suddenly the child being a dick? listening to adults is kind of what kids do.

Yeah. Cause at no point does the player go ‘hey, I don’t know you but this kid knows you and can probably help more’ and the only reason it follows us is because he never got to meet Kieran at the same time because his sister is a cunt.
family issues are not our problem. kieran already wanted to battle us again, and it wouldn't have mattered if we came to blueberry, it's clear that the implication is that kieran was now the strongest trainer in bba by a significant amount. drayton would have lost, and kieran would have simply come to paldea. again, how are WE the dick when the older people are the ones manipulating the pc into these things?

Because you, his sister and his grandfather had repeatedly excluded him. Why would he help people that made it clear they don’t want help? Even though he is the best suited to do so.
yeah i guess ogerpon needing help isn't as important as his grudge for a person he just met, his sister and grandfather. fuck ogerpon, right? wonder why it picked us. lol. and, he wasn't best suited to do so, he was literally worse at battling than the player in every opportunity shown. why are you so stuck on kieran being a good person who didn't do anything wrong? he's a flawed trainer who has to learn that letting your desire for revenge get the best of you is a bad thing. it's the most bog-standard plot ever.

He routinely asks people loads pf things. They are deliberately not honest with him. He keeps asking people to include him in stuff and they keep going no.
so, other people stonewalling him, when we had no permission from people considerably older than us to tell him, is our fault? do you apply this logic to real children? kieran is not a bad person, but he was a flawed character, as i said. he's interesting BECAUSE he's flawed. one of his flaws is that he cannot trust that maybe people are just trying to do something THEY think is right. and that's fine, he's a kid. he's growing. he learns a lesson over the course of the DLC, and in the end he goes off to train. he's got them anime tropes.

He was trying to be a good person. It’s him seeing that people not being gets rewarded that causes him to snap. And again, he is the only reason Orgepon is ever allowed in that village.
come on dude, he is constantly doing shit rashly. he's not thinking clearly during the dlc. then, again, you refuse to actually acknowledge the really shitty behavior he has to his classmates in blueberry academy afterward. kieran is taking out anger from you on other people. that's not good, and it doesn't make him a good person to do it. he is actively a bad person for a period of time, because he is making bad decisions based on his own bad situations.

the player is barely even present in these stories, and if you removed the main character and replaced them with a completely generic paldea student, it would have the same result. the conflict with kieran is because his grandfather is a dumbass, not because the player is a dick. kieran, being raised and fucked up by his sister and grandfather, seems to be not the best person until he realizes he needs to change, due to multiple humblings by the player. the point of which is to teach him that anger doesn't always equal strength, because the player at this point has no reason to dislike kieran other than his weird behavior.

kieran is a great character, his plot and growth are interesting, and his familial conflict surely hits home for a lot of people, myself included. but that doesn't mean his actions aren't stupid and dickish, and avoidable at so many different steps, especially by his grandfather and sister.

The fact there's even this much to say about him and his motivations shows how far the writing came in gen 9 IMO.

Arvens story was better, but Keirans more satisfying.

Speaking of Emerald Enhanced, I also just got the hack recently and although the Poke Community thread says that there are multiple difficulties to choose from plus several extra challenges to add variety to a playthrough, I keep getting "recommended mode" when starting a new game. I understand spiking the difficulty a bit compared to vanilla as to make things more interesting but literally the first trainer encounter having 3 or even 5 mons more than you at a higher level than your starter seems a bit sadistic at times. Supposedly the game is now "feature complete" according to the lead dev but I still can't find the difficulty selection screen amidst the layers of submenus. Any recommendations for it or should I just git gud?
