Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Either I'm retarded or my laptop sucks (or both) but I can't download these files, whenever I try my internet connection fails and the Wi-Fi options are blank. In my last attempt the Wi-Fi button disappeared completely and my laptop BSOD'd when I restarted.
Works on my machine, altho I am currently waiting to buy a new hard drive before I get to download anymore. Sango files themselves are big enough, and I haven't even gotten to SwSh/SV beta files let alone the various decompiled builds

The race thing never made sense in Sun Moon either way since your character is from Kanto, which would mean that the canon option would be the default one with light skin and black hair. I'm sure this won't become a reaction image on /vp/.
And the robbery continues:
As much as these look amazing, there is just too many Pokemon types to give each and every single one of them their own egg design. They would also have to continue doing this for future generations, with every new Pokemon type added in...of course, now there is LESS Pokemon and better technology, ie simple means of texture swapping, so nothing would stop Gamefreak with going thru with this idea today but, you know, that would require effort.

These egg designs didn't go unused, they were just used in the anime (up until Journeys where they were replaced with the egg designs used in the main series and GO) over the games.

I knew I've seen them somewhere before. Point still stands, Gamefreak couldn't have used them in the game even if they wanted to, as neat as that would have been.
Frankly, anyone who is actually making eggs wants to see them for as little as possible, usually not even paying attention to them and driving around in a circle on their bike like a madman or handing them off to various hatching facilities in later gens, so this would have been an absolute waste of time. Only way I can see them making this worth the payoff is if eggs took an extra slot outside the 6 Pokemon limit and you actually seen the egg being carried by your character, kind of like you always see Misty with the Togepi egg in the anime.

Is there any reason why they never did more TCG video games after the GBC?

I was reading this oneshot manga and I know nothing about the TCG. But I loved to play the Yu-Gi-Oh GBA games and learnt much just by playing it instead of the real card games.

Seems like a wasted opportunity to not use videogames to introduce them to the TCG.

I remember reading that they thought they were releasing too much Pokemon at once so didn't localize TCG2. I think that's probably why the Pokemon Picross GB game didn't release despite being completed (iirc).

As for why TCG3 was never even made, it may have something to do with Wizards of the Coast, but I'm just speculating.

People found what is supposed to be an unrelated non-Pokemon Gamefreak mobile game project...that looks like a knockoff Pokemon clone
That looks really good, nice monster design and tropical theming with pirates? It's just too bad it's a mobile game. I hope it's not a cancelled project.

>Pando-Land
>looks like a knockoff Pokemon clone

worse... think Pokemon Quest with the graphics resembling Minecraft with a dupe system similar to DBZ Dokkan Battle

...Oh. That promotional art is literally false marketing.

Watermelon-chan is now canon :story:

What's this race thing referring to?

You can choose the race of your character starting from XY. Since Kanto is based off the region of the same name in Japan, and we didn't see any black characters out of the four Japan based regions until that awful BDSP remake shoehorned a few in. This means that it's pretty unlikely that the main character of SM, who is from Kanto, would look anything other than the default look, you know because that's the closest one we got to looking like native Japanese. How Lillie's family, who is also from Kanto, is all natural blonde is beyond me, but I guess we can chalk it up to anime logic.

wow ok, just forget about blondes in Kanto, I guess

This guy is an American, it even says so in the games.
I guess Lillie's family is also European/American, you know if we assume race works just like in our world and ignore that various characters just have colorful and downright neon hair for no reason like in many anime/manga.

So thanks to that new App listening to the SV music clearly and it made me realise I miss the old way they did music. Gen 8 to Gen 9 there’s all this other sounds when outdoors and pokemon cries and weather. Not to mention the sound of your bike or flying.

I miss when all you had to listen to was the music.

I see, I forgot X/Y had that feature. Yeah it slightly irked me your parents weren't white in Moon. Much diversity. At least they could've matched them to your player, but I guess it could imply you're adopted lol, idk.

That's pretty cute.

Is your mom not white in SM? I swear she just got a tan, which makes sense considering you two just moved to Hawaii.
You must be thinking of Let's Go games, where your mother is indeed some sort of mystery meat no matter what skin color you choose(game set in Kanto btw)

I know some people have already talked about it but what's TCG Pocket like? Would you or would you not recommend it?

It‘s basically Pokémon‘s version of “fast” TCGs like Marvel Snap, I’d say get into it if you want to but you have to remember that it’s drastically different from what the IRL TCG and TCG Live is like.

Opening packs is quick and is kind of the game’s main draw, you have a very low chance (a 0.05% chance to be precise) of opening “God” pack that contain only Star-Rare-or-higher cards.

Also, the monetization seems to be less in favor of booster packs (a 10-pack opening costs 60 Poké Gold, which costs around $11 USD) and more in favor of accessories like coins, sleeves, and playmats (there are two limited-time Erika-themed bundles for 45 Poké Gold and 115 Poké Gold, the first one costs just under $10 USD and the second one costs around $25 USD). The Premium Pass basically amounts to paying an extra $10 USD every month to open an extra pack every 24 hours and having access to premium missions that rewards a pitiful amount of Hourglasses of both varieties and enough Premium Tickets to buy all of the items in the Premium Shop (which, as of today, amounted to a Mewtwo-themed coin/card sleeve/playmat bundle and an Art Rare Pikachu promo).

It's super autistic.

But really I see the main draw of these games to be collecting, and shiny pokémon are the rarest thing you can reasonably get. If you just want shiny pokémon fast then play anything after Black or White. The methods in those games are super quick and even have guaranteed perfect IVs and increased odds of hidden abilities.

I never intentionally hunted shinies. But in Scarlett I got a shiny Banette. I was just aimlessly walking around and there she was chilling by a tree.

I also saw a shiny Gallade but stupidly killed it. I should have been more careful.

Editing to correct the game to Violet. I have low iron. I'm a bit out of it. 😓
