So I'm thinking about getting X and Y. Would you guys recommend buying it now, waiting for it to go down in price, or passing on it altogether?

I'm sure it will be on sale come the holiday season, but if you want to get it now it's totally worth it. X has been an extremely enjoyable experience.

...except for right now because I'm chasing Zapdos around from place to place. This is very annoying. (:_(

I love this game so much. Breeding and EV training has never been easier thanks to Friend Safari, Super Training, and Horde battles. The game looks WONDERFUL (even if Wood Hammer has the shittiest animation ever) and I'm surprised at how well they jumped into 3D. I'm anticipating a lot of DLC, thanks to unexplained things like empty caves, useless items, and the guy who says he's from a faraway region that isn't Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or Unova. My money's on Orre. And did I mention most of the new Pokémon kick all kinds of ass? Even the keychain one.

Went ahead and splurged, and so far I don't regret a thing. I'm only up to Glittering Cave, but I'm loving the shit out of it so far.

Mega Bidoof confirmed!

I've also gotten back into HeartGold. Grinding up for the big showdown with Red, which is ridiculous when there's no wild Pokemon above level 45 available. I fucking love the gen 2 remakes, but I really wish they'd boosted the monsters in Mt. Silver a little. I've gotten all the Kanto badges, I've clearly got a strong team, give me something serious here. I'm stuck waiting for the time of the week I can rematch Gym Leaders.

You don't need to grind at all to beat Red. Or the rest of the game.

I don't think I've ever seen a Pokemon game go down in price. Obviously X and Y are going to be around for a little while, but I wouldn't expect the price to be slashed it that's why you're holding off.

Just got the storyline Lucario...except I already had a Lucario that I'd caught as a Riolu way earlier. I feel kind of bad for the one that wanted to join me; he's joining the rest of the benchwarmers in the PC.

Also, that Gym Leader battle theme is the best Gym Leader theme in the series.

Route 13 is the worst thing ever. Seriously.

Also, I've been enjoying Wonder Trading. By 'enjoying', I mean 'sending people Luvdisc and imagining their reactions'. ]:(P

I snagged a Froakie the other day that way, now I have all 3 starters.

I've received so many Magikarp, I want to punch someone through the 3ds. One was named "SurpriseFish" though and that made me laugh. I've gotten some awesome Pokemon through Wonder Trading too though. I usually send out Eeveelutions and version exclusives.

So as a person who deson't have a 3DS but likes Pokemon... Would it be worth getting a 3DS for the new Pokemon games? I'd get other games eventually, but Pokemon would be the primary motivator here. How "fun" is this game? Are the changes brought by EV training and Pokemon Amie worth it? I've heard some people love them and others hate on them....

And I need to get myself something for Christmas. (:_(

Also is Froakie good for a starter? I think I might break my "always go for grass type starter!" rule, now that I you can get Bulbasaur again!

It you're worried about cost, getting a 2DS is the best bet. It's alot cheaper than the 3DS and 3DS XL.

The changes made to Breeding and EV training makes it so anyone can breed a perfect pokemon in a few hours instead of a few weeks.

The games are actually quite fun, I know a lot of people offline that haven't played since 1st or 2nd gen and love it.

I got Froakie, and I'm a little underwhelmed so far. If whatever it evolves into after Frogadier doesn't impress me, I'm going to replace it.

Honestly, the only starters I really liked were Generation 1 and Generation 5 (and even then I wasn't big on Tepig).

Froakie is, competitively speaking, the strongest of the three starters. All three are pretty decent though.

By the way, am I crazy or does the framerate tend to chug when you turn 3d on?

I am unsure but for me it seems to lag at the beginning of horde battles or rotation/double battles. Maybe it's just me though and I don't even have 3D on.

With 3D off, I don't see any kind of slowdown. It's just when its on. In particular, sending out Frogadier with 3D on seems to make it chug like a frat boy on a keg stand. I think it's maybe a little too much for the system to handle, which is kind of a shame.

I normally keep it off, but I like this game's 3D effects, although Water Pulse makes my eyes hurt.

Also, I got a Japanese Ditto over the GTS, which is pretty cool.

Can I just say that Goodra is the best dragon-type ever?

Unrelated note: How the fuck is anyone ever supposed to figure out that to evolve Inkay, you have to TURN THE 3DS UPSIDE DOWN ONCE IT REACHES LEVEL 30?
