Found a cheat to max out tickets, otherwise I was not going to try grinding another infinite ticket.
The next trainer was a trainer you fight in the story near the end, she's higher level than she was so I guess the first one is a joke? Not sure why he was unleveled, I'm even playing on the patched version.

i know i might not be in the right thread but have you guys played the newer digimon games? i loved pokemon when i was a kid and late teen but i feel like the new games are not so good. and the digimon games do look interesting on steam.

The newest digimon game, Digimon Story Time Stranger, is pretty fun, much more worth 70 dollars than ZA but you can get it cheaper probably.

How close is it to Pokemon's gameplay? I tried Digimon for the first time with Survive back in 2023 and hated it. Digimon games can't seem to make up their mind about what they want to be.

the fact that you and your pokemon run around the arena like retards instead of the trainers standing in the appropriate spots and it feeling like an actual battle is fucking insane
This was a problem in SV as well, due to battles being able to happen theoretically anywhere, sometimes you would have absolutely nonsensical placements and arenas, since everything is happening in real time instead of going to it's own little mode like in the older games. It gets worse and more noticeable here since the game takes place in real time.
I really don't care for this take on Pokemon, I wonder if turn based is just straight up dead outside of SV and Champions.

Really, m YouTube recommendations had quite a few people talk about how they like Digimon Story better than Legends Z-A. Here is one video I saw:

Beat the game, only part that gave me grief were the flowers right at the end

Y’know, a few years ago - literally whenever PLA released - if you were to tell me this was the newest Pokemon game, I’d legitimately think you were just fucking around in GMod.

The fact that Game Freak can’t make something that looks better than fucking ancient ass Gary’s Mod is just sad.

That ground texture is just as bad as The Sims 4's:

Even making decent looking ground textures is "ToO hArD" for game developers these days.

Welp, I've just beaten the main story. Good lord that Mega Evolution gauntlet was a slog
and the fight against Hyperrogue Agne Floette was your stereotypical "anime hype moments" stuff. I do like the Wild Zone that's added to map in the post-game, I just wish it was easier to respawn the two Alpha Pokémon after you defeat/catch 'em.

Oh and I can confirm that the Infinite Z-A Royale screenshot that @Hiphopopotamus posted featuring the Z Rank Trainer with level 9 Pokémon is true, whether or not the levels stay the same for other Trainers has yet to be seen.
Still breaks me, they really fucked over the Kalos starters.
From what I understand it's fairly easy to reach the ranks where you're given the Mega Stones for the Kalos starters but you do have a point about them being tied to an online subscription. Watch as they're given out in the DLC just like the Gigantamax Venusuar and Blastoise were.

Agreed, AZ's death is a sad ending for the character (him showing the ol' fashioned "cough of eventual dying" near the end of the main story notwithstanding) but once Agne is dealt with there's not much for him story-wise other than a bit of flavor text in the letter he leaves with Korrina's Lucario implying that he was a witness to Galar's first Darkest Day.

I kinda have mixed feelings on the guy, his action and inaction together seemingly almost fucked up the planet what, 3 times?

So, I found a shiny emolga, and it was on a rooftop I couldn't reach. I'd read that they just stopped shinies from despawning, so I looked up what I'd need to do to activate the stupid holovator, and did the whole Canari fight.

And it was still there, and now I have a shiny emolga. :)

It's a joke about him being perpetually stuck in Z rank. You were his 100th loss in a row the first time around. I had the Y-rank trainer show up a little after that and her team's levels were postgame-worthy.
The weakest loser and first enemy you have fought having already 99th losses before you encounter him.
Why do that sounds so familiar?
OH WAIT! I REMEMBER NOW!!

And unlike in pokemon, the guys making Punch out! for the Wii DID put the effort to give the joke character a glow-up for when you rematch him.

oh shit: shiny bunnelby
And thank FUCKING God they added the audio cue back in. I couldn't tell where the fucker was, but I could hear it.

The leaks show that Nintendo tried to help them by outsourcing some of the work to Square Enix, to help Gamefreak with the load. In return, Gamefreak throw a meltie and had a rant in their internal docs about "keeping their independence".
Do you have the full document for where this supposedly comes from? Because the slide I've seen posted to go along with this info doesn't say anything about Nintendo trying to get them to outsource work, just that the writer of the slide thinks that outsourcing works is too expensive for modern game development.

Pokemon gender was introduced in gen 2, pokemon are either female, male or genderless, with genderless pokemons being:
- Legendaries because it would be retarded and game breaking multiply what's basically a mythical being like an animal.
- Unown because the way they function in gen 2 games is a mess
- Magnemite and voltorb because they are machines as souless as a goytendo exec.
- Ditto because he's the pokemon whore.

I also want to point out how breeding broke the lore of kangaskan and cubone, as well as the fact that game freak has been too fucking lazy to fix any of this, so most legendaries remains gender unknown and they never elaborated because they are fucking retarded and can't bother to simply say "legendaries refuses to breed so it doesn't matter what their gender is for a trainer."
Reminder that "genderless" has always officially been "gender unknown". Calling them genderless just spread among English-speaking fans because it's easier to say and it makes sense for the non-legendary ones like Magnemite. Most Legendary Pokemon likely have genders, in fact Moltres has always officially been considered female as stated in that ancient Japanese guide book for Red/Green (and is why she always speaks with feminine speech patters in Mystery Dungeon in Japanese), but like you said they're mostly all "gender unknown" because you can't breed them anyway and I think GF figured lore-wise that no researcher ever got the chance to confirm their genders.

Some pokemon can be male and female that shouldn't.

It does look masculine, but it being called Mr. Mime is a localization thing. In Japanese it's called Barrierd. So it's clear GF didn't think of it as an explicitly gendered Pokemon.

According to Google Translate (I don't speak moonrune):
"I'm a popular Pokemon that has undergone Mega Evolution" (The first part is almost certainly wrong)
"I'll aim to clear it as quickly as possible!"
First line is "Looks like I'm also popular with out-of-control Mega Evolved Pokemon."
The second line is literally "Let's aim for a fastest clear!" I understand why the localizers did the "speedrun any-percent" joke in English, since 最速クリア (saisoku clear) since the sort of wording is only used for video games. Like if you google the phrase you'll get a whole bunch of Japanese videos of and pages about speedruns. The English line is more over-the-top, but the intention was there for it to be a reference to speedrunning.

If there’s one thing I don’t like about Z-A is that AFAIK there isn’t a way to boost the Shiny rate outside of the usual Shiny Charm boost (the absolute slog of getting the Shiny Charm in Z-A not withstanding), even PLA had that in the form of Mass Outbreaks.

I have a sneaking suspicion that GF may have moved it to the DLC but I hope that’s not the case.

Okay that makes a bit more sense, I also noticed that the first Infinite Z-A Royale battle is actually tied to the post-game story.

I was in the same boat with Kakuna, I couldn’t make it out until I saw the sparkle and heard the usual SFX.
