I think it's really neat to see that progression in his stance in showing how much he thinks/needs to be better than you to the point of getting an outfit upgrade upon being Champion. Like I guess Lance gave him some of his hair gel or something, but like was there any reason for Blue to slick his hair over as such? It's actually kinda funny that the official art gave him the Champion haircut and that ultimately became his signature look.

In fact... the artwork might've unintentionally spoiled that you fight your rival as the end of the Pokémon League because of a haircut upgrade. Huh.

Tell me if you see this as well: There is a mix of Ash/Blue(Gary) in the face and hair of the first two Blue sprites. The similarities are that of the anime, whereas the last looks akin to the Blue we know, at least in FR/LG (the black shirt, the stark white [to purple] trousers, and the black shoes).

While his hair nowadays reflects the spikiness of the first two, it is also out there, or more flashy like the last sprite.
