Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

It is the cane toad of Pokemon, brutally slaughtering everything native in its wake... :(
I'm really excited to see the "certain pokemon" it was brought in to combat. I loved the Zangoose/Seviper thing they had going on in Gen III, and was super pleased that they used that mechanic in horde battles in Gen VI (if you haven't played it, you can sometimes encounter 4 Zangoose and a Seviper or 4 Seviper and a Zangoose, and they'll fight each other before fighting you). If we get a cool snake pokemon I'm using that for sure.

I'm betting the pokemon will be some kind of rat/rodent. Mongooses (mongeese?) were brought to the Hawaiian Islands for rat control but became an invasive species.

Edit: Just looked up the new Stakeout ability...damn. How long until it gets banned from the metagame?

Solgaleo is based off of the Alchemy term "The beast that devours the sun", which is fancy talk for purifying metals, hence its steel type and its ability Full Metal Body (Full Metal is pure metal)

Lunala is based on "The beast that calls the moon", and additionally there is the alchemic belief that the moon, being a source of moisture, releases aqua merifica, a liquid believed to extract souls from the body and give bodies life and soul. Hence its ghost typing.

Psychic is tradtionally the type associated with cosmic stuff(Cosmic Power, Solrock, Lunatone, Jirachi, Deoxys, Elgyem/Beheeyem, ect)

So I feel the types make sense.

yes i agree that the sun is not made of fire and that the moon is a lush oceanic paradise in this very realistic animal training simulator

i stopped needing explanations after the fucking trashbag pokemon

they probably put it in as a way of dealing with u-turn that isn't entry hazards. if Stakeout's buff lasts longer than just the turn in which the target switched in, then yes wow bann he

That's actually pretty cool.

Makes Clefairy stand out, what with being an alien and all.

If the Alola legendaries are going to be based off of alchemy, does that mean the Soul-Heart stone in Magearna's chest could be the Pokemon equivalent of the Philosopher's Stone?
And in alchemy, the sun and the moon are associated with gold and silver... Mega evolutions for Johto starters confirmed?

The Alchemy references started in ORAS, where Project AZOTH, the name of the ultimate plan of Team Aqua or Magma(depends on your version) was mentioned in some files on a bookshelf in their base. Azoth is the name for either the universal solvent or universal medicine in Alchemy. It is usually represented by Mercury.

Its name also has significance. "A" is initial letter of the Latin/Greek/Hebrew alphabets and the rest are the final letters of the Latin alphabet ("Z"), the Greek alphabet (Omega, "O") and the Hebrew alphabet (Tau, "TH") respectively.

Though not canon to the games, the upcoming movie takes place in a location called the Azoth Kingdom and Magearna's creator is named after a famous alchemist, Éliphas

Hell, even the larva Pokemon (Grubbin) is kind of cute!

Plus, the two box legendaries and the three starters all have great designs. I have high hopes for Gen VII.

EDIT: Also, here's an article that goes into the alchemy connections.

This was an official Pokemon product back in the day, a CD Rom helping people learn how to play the Pokemon TCG.
The early 2000's truly were the golden years of cringe. I used to play this game a lot as a kid, especially after the cards got banned from school. I don't remember a whole lot about it but it was fairly similar to the GB trading card game.

Did anyone see the Versifly drama now? It involves his Pokemon stuff apparently. Some big YouTubers are getting annoyed
He's the furry who shits out 10+ minute clickbait videos and then accuses other YouTubers of being desperate, right?
