It's pretty neat to seeing how big Pokémon can get compared to your character.

I live for this stuff. Back when gen 4 came out I adored the weight check function on the pokedex, it was like Crack to me. Seeing how big and heavy a Pokémon could be back then blew my little kid brain, seeing it now blows my adult brain. Some of them are comically large, but damn, it really puts things into perspective. These things really are monsters, aren't they?

The giant gardevoir in particular went around like wildfire. Not surprising considering that gardevoir is always coombait.
I mentioned this earlier in the thread, when I get this game if I can catch a large (preferably shiny) Gardevoir, I'm going to name it Dimitrescu.

If I can catch a large Gengar, I'm naming it Totoro.

Mass outbreaks are your friend for shiny hunting. Save in town, go to one, catch everything, and if no shinies show, soft reset and try again.

Also turn off auto save.

If there's one thing I don't like about PLA's space-time distortions it's how long it takes for the damn things to go from popping up on the map to actually activating.
You get Grit for mass releasing pokemon so you are encouraged to release mons after a while
Ah, so limit is the same as past games but you at least get something in return for releasing your excess 'mons like you do with Go and LGPE. I suppose there's also February's Home compatibility update to consider as well.

Funnily enough someone on Twitter was smart enough to make a spreadsheet to document the amount of additional rerolls the game's RNG will perform in order to find a Shiny seed.

Oh, and apparently Alpha Pokemon can be Shiny a well but AFAIK they don't pop up in mass outbreaks.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm seconding the "turn off autosave" bit. One thing I'd also recommend it turning off the "automatically connect" option for online functions. I don't know if it was because I was retarded and had it on but I ended up having to redo a few hours of gamplay due to an unknown error occurring when I entered Galaxy Hall.

EDIT 2: Scratch that bit about Alpha Pokemon not showing up in mass outbreaks, I just had an Alpha Parasect pop up in a Parasect outbreak.

I can confirm that. I found one a few days ago and have even seen a couple video of other players getting one:

I'm currently trying to decide what to evolve a Shiny Alpha Eevee into. I'm leaning Glaceon.

So far I have around 33 hours in PLA. I've beaten Kleavor and unlocked Crimson Mirelands, but I haven't explored that area yet, because I'm still focusing on Obsidian Fieldlands. In the older games, my favourite task was completing the Pokédex, so naturally I'm enjoying PLA a lot. I'm hellbent on getting "perfect" status on all dex entries, because I'm a completionist.

What's interesting to me is that while working to obtain "perfect" dex entires, I end up using many different species of Pokémon and I have no fixed team at this (early) point in the game, because party members are coming and going as I need them.

Thank god for the mass-release feature.

Despite being much slower than Santa-Deer, there’s something really entertaining about riding around on a big lumbering rock bear that likes to dig for treasure.
There's gotta be some sorta weird exploit that switching around ride mons will cause for speed runs and I cant wait for it

I got lucky and managed to find another Shiny, this time it was a Hisuian Voltorb via an outbreak. The story would've been a hell of a lot more disappointing we're it not for the save-scumming suggestion that @SteelPlatedHeart suggested, those little bastards are hard to sneak up on without sending them into a frenzy.

Smoke balls, berries, and sneak spray are your friends.

Here's the team I've pulled together so far. I've just finished changing their natures via mints. All that's left to do is to start training their levels, increasing their effort values and mastering their attacks as I go along. Is it necessary to put so much effort into a team like this for a solo game like Legends Arceus? Probably not but I'm having fun anyway.

My strategy was manual save, piss off the Voltorbs into 9/11ing me, and then dodging till my shiny popped. I then threw my Pokemon at the shiny to initiate battle and stop the incessant exlosions.

The only nuts-squeezingly challenging fight I've seen is the rematch against Arceus. Knowing that competitive battling won't be in this game has kind of lifted a weight off my shoulders, now that it's sufficient for a 'mon to be Good and not Perfect.

I have bad news for you about that Scyther...

Oh wait, stupid me.

The color threw me off.
