Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Not gonna lie, it mildly amuses me how, despite the coomer bait characters/Pokémon, the community apparently decided that fucking Larry was the best character in the game. Not any of the Main Cast of characters, not the V-Tuber that apparently made a lot of actual vtubers annoyed, but fucking Larry the Overworked Salary Worker.

I get it, but it's amusing.
It's funnier because it's mostly for "LOL he's just like me!" reasons despite a majority of the people saying that never having worked a soul-draining office job in their lives.

More comments on BW3:
  • Surprisingly, they kep the genders of all of the trainers. Thay may be cause the genders are a hardcoded part of the game that has rather integral functions.
  • Another surprising part is tha there still are Police trainers, despite 'Assigned Cop at Birth' being the woke mantra. The policemen are also fairly respectable; the worst one does is challenge the trainer to a Pokémon battle because of 'a dangerous smell'.
  • The common.asm files, which hold commonly-used strings, also have plenty of origina leftovers.
  • There are a lot of leftovers from the Radio Towers.
  • Some leftovers from Professor Elm remain.
  • The pokemon folder in the data folder has two dex_order_new files. The copy has an older order before new Pokémon are added.
  • The Bicycle text has been recycled.
  • Eevee volves into Glaceon wi the Ice Stone and Leafeon wi the Leaf Stone. However, Eevee retains the original evolution methods into Espeon and Umbreon. Instead, Eevee volves into Sylveon if its LV increased uring the day while holding the Magic Ribbon.
  • The Oran d Sitrus Berries are lumped together away from the other berries in the Index Table, possibly because of how they are dependent in the MooMoo quest.

In some fairness, the annoyance seems more directed at their respective chats for cheering for Iono. Sill funny how that gets literally every one of them to mald.
Thank you both for the laughs and a reminder on why vtubers are insufferable
I don't know how anybody can stand those voices, the one in the middle having a complete tantrum was the worst

I find that, depending on the vtuber, that they're fine in small doses and clips. Most of them are insufferable, yes, but I can get why people dedicate time to their anime e-girls.

They suffer from the same problem every streamer does - the incessant need to act like a fucktard to amuse chat - but that's about where I'm willing to drop the topic. I just go back to those vids to laugh at the malding every once in a while, I may have a playlist of Seethe...

I guess when you got an internet celebrity, an avant garde artist, a rapping grandma, a super model and so on as gym leaders the one unremarkable guy stands out, oh and guess being relatable helps too.
By the way how did Iono (the streaming girl) make actual vtubers annoyed? I only ever heard people bitching that gamefreak was pandering to the vtuber crowd

Ah I should have kept reading the thread

Anyways as for npcs my favourites are Larry, Clive, Arven and the Nurse. The first two I found amusing, the other two compelling. Pokemon games are by no means writing masterpieces but I feel that this time around they were able to come up with npcs that did not feel like cardboard cutouts.

Poor guy is juggling like 3 different jobs between being a salaryman, gym leader and E4.

Character wise Paldea has a few duds like any other Pokemon game but Larry, Rika and Arven were great. The principal was surprisingly likable too but suffers a bit from being tied to the Team Star plot.

Arven deserved a better game.

I had some really weird Shiny luck yesterday, not only did I find a fifth Shiny Hoothoot but I then proceeded to find two Shiny Nosepass within five minutes of each other. And none of those were spawned with the help of a Sparkling Power sandwich.

Today appears to be fairly standard. I found a third Shiny Mimikyu in a Mass Outbreak I was whittling down, the first warning popped up shortly before it spawned so I had a Shiny rate of 1/1,024.38 (30-59 Mass Outbreak Pokémon defeated and Shiny Charm) at that moment.

Oh, and apparently you can get the Misty Mark (previously only obtainable in SWSH and BDSP) in Kitakami by mucking about near the unclimbable cliffs near edge of the explorable map. Sometimes the game will think you're going out-of-bounds and cause fog to generate and that causes any Pokémon that spawn during that that time to have a chance at having this "unobtainable" mark.

EDIT: I found a Twitter post going into more detail on how to get the Misty Mark on Pokemon found in Kitakami, apparently there are specific locations where these ”fog points” are (with one being impossible to trigger when playing solo) and which Pokémon are found around it.

You literally go out on a date in both Gen 5 games if I recall correctly
To be fair Gen 5's protags (along with XY's, remember that an NPC gives you the TM for Protect after your "date" with Shauna at Parfum Palace) are noticeably older than any mainline game's protags before or since, IIRC they're around 15-16 years old.

Pokémon’s Latin American International Championship is going on right now and two distribution codes have gone out.

For the TCG Live app, you can use the code ParadoxLAIC to add a Secret Illustration Rare Iron Valiant ex (an image of the card is attached below) to your account. The code only works once per account, there’s a 100,000 redemption limit, and the code expires on November 27th.

On the video game side they’re giving away a Lv. 50 Dragapult (with max IVs) based off of the one used by Alex Gómez Bernia at NAIC, who ended up taking 1st place in the VGC Masters division. To get it, you have to use the code LA1CPHANT0M4CE in the Scarlet & Violet’s Mystery Gift feature. The Pokémon’s EV spread also matches the one used by Alex at NAIC too. It may be a bit of a nothingburger but I strongly encourage Scarlet players pick this event ‘mon up since the Dragapult line is exclusive to Violet.

Oh, and a word of warning about the video game code: if you‘re holding onto any past Tera Raid events or special Mass Outbreaks then redeeming this code will cause it to update to the current Tera Raid events and special Mass Outbreaks, all of which feature Eevee.
Honest question, does the Sonic fanbase have this much of an autistic dedication to finding new glitches for speedrunners?
Speedrunning, if not video game records in general, is autism incarnate. Just look at how autistic the Super Mario 64 speedrunning gets.

TerminalMontage made a new Pokemon animation:

Love this guy's work. Also glad to see my boys Swampert and Incineroar had some good moments. Also want to point out how awesome the powered up Hisuian Typhlosion is.

My sweet summer child, you have seen NOTHING yet.
People have been breaking apart the first gen games like a hobby for decades now, at this point I have more fun glitching these games out than actually playing them myself. Everyone knows about Missingno and how to catch Mew(and literally any other Pokemon), but what people don't know is that there are a ton of other glitch Pokemon, ones that you can transfer to gen 2 via time capsule and vice versa for legit gen 2 Pokemon. There is also ways to literally reprogram the game on the fly using various ACE methods, usually thru item manipulation but I've also seen it done by just riding around on a bike. Among the craziest things I've seen with the game would be a virus that is spread by trading Pokemon and can spread to other games indefinitely, and some dude programming in Pong minigame within the game itself
This is not mentioning the more mundane stuff, like getting new pokemon early, getting infinite items, using walkthru glitches to get around the map, various exploits to skip gym leaders ect. The game is held together by duct tape and good wishes so whatever you can name, you can probably do. You've got to wonder past a certain point how this game even functions in the first place, it might be one of the more glitchy and janky pieces of software I have ever run on any hardware. You haven't truly played Pokemon until you've seen the first gen games absolutely shit themselves for your amusement, go on youtube and look up "Pokemon Superglitch", the creepypastas have nothing on this.

My favorite is by far this Pokemon Yellow TAS from about half a decade ago. I’m not going to spoil it, just keep in mind that this is all being done within Yellow, and nothing is edited in. Though it is using a special emulator that allows for sub-frame inputs.
