Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I fully support post gen evos, they can bring some much needed life into a past Pokemon. Baby Pokemon, on the other hand, I never got: They got no competitive potential, are weaker than all the other Pokemon when playing single player, don't even get the benefit of being good with Eviolite since there is always another evo in that line that can use it as well, and only gain a few niche moves in their baby form while being a pain in the ass to evolve(Friendship). There were going to be much more baby Pokemon than in the final Gen 2 releases as well, if the Spaceworld leak is anything to go off of, and what's there already feels like it's unnecessary. Baby Pokemon introduced after Gen 2 are even more confusing, who asked for the likes of Munchlax or...umm, Azurill? Had to look that one up just about now because that's how forgettable it is.
While I agree with what you said about baby Pokemon (never cared to get them, they are just way too weak), I would have liked for the beta baby mons for Paras and Meowth to have made it into the final game:

I was thinking about this today and came to the conclusion that Baby Pokemon are born premature and the Incense is detrimental to the health of the Pokemon.

That aside, you have to remember the point of Pokemon's game design (back then anyways) wasn't just RPG mechanics, but a glorified bug catching game. You can't take Pokemon that were designed to make you engage with the game's breeding system and stack them up against their evolutions competitively. No one is going out of their way to breed Pokemon in the middle of a playthrough because by the time that would pay off powerscale wise you could have beaten the gave several times over.

Breeding is post game content and (before the internet spilled the game's spaghetti's code everywhere) showing off to your friend's on the playground the awesome BABY SNORLAX you got that everyone's missing that ONLY YOU know how to obtain in your friend group is where the engagement is. They're Easter Eggs for the completionists and playground braggarts.
I think baby Pokemon made a little more sense back when they were first introduced in Generarion 2. Baby Pokemon were a decent way of showing off one of Gen 2's other new features, breeding. If I remember correctly, most if not all baby Pokemon in GSC are only obtainable via breeding and cannot be caught in the wild. Meaning if say you wanted an Igglybuff, you would've had to catch a Jigglypuff and breed said Jigglypuff instead of catching a wild Igglybuff.

Starting with Gen 4, baby Pokemon became available in the wild. Reducing the need to actually breed these Pokemon, and it just made the game a little more annoying to play. Instead of being able to obtain a Roselia before the first gym in DPPt, you had to catch a Budew then evolve it via friendship. Making raising Pokemon such as Roserade unnecessarily irritating for no good reason.

The way baby Pokemon were originally implemented was better, imo. The non-baby forms of older Pokemon were obtainable in the wild as early as before the first gym, with even Magmar being obtainable at the Burned Tower before Magby in GS/HGSS. Meaning players who just wanted to add certain Pokemon to their teams without having to raise a weak as shit baby form didn't have to fuck around with friendship bullshit. While giving those looking to fully complete the Pokedex a reason to use the breeding mechanic.

I'm going to try out ROWE when I get some spare time. Makes me wish Crystal Clear was less pozzed. Out of curiosity, does anyone remember the Lolbert Mormon who worked on CC? Did he get kicked out? I personally would like to talk to him to see if I could learn anything about the mod. I remember he had a fediverse account.

Pokemon designs are fine, but they don't fulfill any purpose in game. There is enough Pokemon that are fully evolved and are useless as is, don't need to add more to the pile

@The Ultimate Ramotith
Good to see someone fixed that romhack. Going to definitely try it out one of those days.
I hope so. I could fix the hack rather simply, hence I did.

I'm happy you actually went ahead and did this. BROWN
I do not kno what is mor embarrassing: that all of my changes made the 'de-woked' version superior to the official one, or that I had to do little 'de-woking' in the first place.
Yes. I was having way too much fun wit how you poked fun at 'brownness'. Excuse me.

Serebii released a "preview" of the Indigo Disk DLC today that mostly amounts to his autisitc Bri'ish ass narrating him jumping over grassy plains for 10 minutes. I didn't bother to watch the video- just read the write-up instead, so here are some highlights of that after a video link for those who do have the patience to watch instead of read.

  • You can find Tera shards in fistful quantities throughout the zone; Serebii found 18 at once just lying on the ground.
  • No new towns/villages, instead there are "rest stops" that seem to mostly amount to Pokémon centers with students at them instead of nurses.
  • Both kantonian and alolan exeggutor, implying both forms of whichever mon is included in the dex in the wild?
  • Not a single Paldean mon out in the wild according to Serebii.
  • No starters out in the wild. Was reassured that they'd be there, but either they're rare or have an alternate method for obtaining them that Serebii didn't get to when he was playing.
  • The DLC is literally resold post-game content. You can't access the Indigo Disk stuff without having finished both The Way Home and the Teal Mask.
  • Every trainer battle is a double battle hovering around the level 60s, with some Ogre Clan-like enemies being in the 70s with vaguely-competitive teams.
  • Elite Four are supposedly even higher-leveled than these tougher trainers.
  • Amarys has a trial you have to do before battling her that involves flying Miraidon/Koraidon through rings indefinitely. Serebii also says "she was tough", but went on to describe how he beat her without any revives or potions, so... take that with a grain of salt.
  • E4 can seemingly be done in any order.
  • New moves: "Hard Press" is a Steel move that does greater damage to high-HP mon. (Serebii didn't bother to clarify whether this meant base HP or whether this is a reskinned Water Spout. I'm expecting the latter.) "Supercharged Coil" was mentioned without being elaborated on- sounds Electric.
  • Wild battle theme is supposedly a remix of Unova's. "Inspiration" from Alola and Unova scattered throughout the region, according to Serebii, which might mean direct homages for nostalgia wanking or might just mean shout-outs or something. No elaboration given.
  • Performance is still bad LMAO

Pokémon current head gave an interview yesterday about the future of the series.

Notable quotes from the article:
“I think in the past, we had two separate audiences – younger kids and adults – but now we’re starting to see a family audience where they’re enjoying the experiences together,” says Utsunomiya.
“It’s easy to just focus on adults: they have a lot of disposable income, you can see their reactions in real time on social media … But we need to make sure that we are still keeping the younger kids interested,” he continues, “Kids are very honest – they won’t play something they don’t like. If your brand feels old or boring, they will immediately dismiss it.”
“Regardless of whether we publicly respond, we’re always paying very close attention to the feedback and conversations happening in the communities,” Utsunomiya says. “There are certain aspects where we can’t always be 100% aligned with what parts of the community are asking for and what we want to provide. But we do this with the desire to keep Pokémon going for a very long time, and I believe that the fans and players are aligned with us in that respect.”
“My job? I spend all day every day thinking about Pokémon,” he says with a smile. “Our goal is to keep Pokémon alive for hundreds of years – making sure it survives well past our lifetimes.”
Just 100 more years to fix the bugs. Please be patient.

The beta Paras is some kind of fungal nightmare disguised as a Pokemon, but I guess that's Paras for the course given that Parasect has its body and mind fully subsumed by Shroom.

I want a plushy of that Beta Meowth. The design's better than what we got.

I won't list everything but there's a non-binary choice and the majority of NPCs are BROWN.
...and th is from Johto, which is based off Kansai, Nippon, and therefore has few African people...
If I had the source, I might be able to fix this (including the colourwashing this time), but I feel that I am going to need WAY bigger assembly skills here.

Until then, hopefully my de-woked mod would hold you ntil I go back to my SV demake. We all have to wait around a month before the new Pokémon drop at least.

As a retard who's only played unbound and pokemon cock, what rom hacks should I try next?
I recently played Supergold97, which is basically a look into what a completed version of that leaked Spaceworld beta would look like. It's a neat Pokemon 1.5 reimagining of Johto, but you also get to visit Kanto, Hoenn and Sinnoh as well. There is plenty of new Pokemon(all based off the ones from the leaked beta), a new elemental chart(again, matching the one from the leaked beta), reimagined existing Pokemon and characters and overall it feels a lot like a finished product that would come out around that time instead of a fan project. I would definitely check it out if you're a fan of Gen 2 titles in the slightest.

Aside from the de-woked Pokémon Black and White 3 in the previous page, I made a directory:
Speaking of de-woked Black and White 3, I dunno if you mentioned this but if the main protagonist is BROWN does that also go for the character's mother? If so, this would be the first game where the absence of your father makes sense.
