To try and bring this topic from going into further discussion about waifus and which is woke or not(the inevitability of every Pokemon discussion), I'm curious if it's actually good. You see a lot of discussion about it on /vp/, but they're not exactly well known for their tastes. Since this is the memey imageboard romhacks, it could just be that people recommend it out of the "obligation" that you play it if you visit 4 or 8chan.Pokemon Clover exists LOL
I haven't played many romhacks but this one stands out to me as the only one I've played that has a completely unique dex of mons. This is probably what will make or break the hack for you since they're all very reliant on 4chan related memes and culture but it worked out more than enough to build a team I liked. The region follows a similar progression in areas and gyms as the original Kanto and there is even a neat postgame with some legendaries where the act of tracking them down feels remarkably similar to how you'd do it in the old entries. To try and bring this topic from going into further discussion about waifus and which is woke or not(the inevitability of every Pokemon discussion), I'm curious if it's actually good. Since I'm going on something of a ride with Pokemon romhacks right now, do sell me on this one if anyone here played it. I know very little about it.
What are some features the romhack has? Is there a battling facility like Battle Tower? Is the story overdosed on maymays to the point I will cringe?I haven't played many romhacks but this one stands out to me as the only one I've played that has a completely unique dex of mons. Not counting any self imposed reules I think this hack is moderatly demanding, most of the difficulty will come from not knowing what types the mons are (sometimes it will really not be obvious outside of gym leaders), their stats and what moves they use.
Its overall a deceptively competent hack I'd say and I definitely recommend it, just for the effort and creativity alone.
There is very little story and some of it is very dated like this semi reocurring character who I think is supposed to reference Know Your Meme. What are some features the romhack has? Is there a battling facility like Battle Tower? Is the story overdosed on maymays to the point I will cringe?
Right now I want to play at least one Romhack of every mainline game up to Gen 7, but this might be something fun to play at a later date.
After the release of Pokémon Black and White, Lenora's artwork on the official website for the games was updated to have her apron slung over her shoulder. Also, in the dubbed versions of A Night at the Nacrene City Museum!, The Battle According to Lenora! and Rematch at the Nacrene Gym!, Lenora's apron was removed completely. This was due to concerns that she resembled the Mammy archetype
Honestly I think they’ll be a few more gens before the people making the games find their grove again. It should be noted that this was also the first race mixed couple in Pokemon, since she has a white husband. She was also the first legit girlboss in the franchise, as for the short time you meet her the game establishes that she wears the pants(or the apron) in the family.
Yeah, Gamefreak was really confused as to what the Westerners really wanted and you can tell they didn't really know what they were doing. They still don't, you can tell that they don't have the heart in following the new ESG guidelines and making everyone look ugly, they're just doing it because their superiors are telling them this is what Americans want. Nilantic have recently pozzed up Pokemon GO, but since they're from San Francisco this sort of thing is more natural to them.
For better or for worse, Gen 5 was the last time that Gamefreak put any sort of soul into the franchise. Gen 6 had that too to a degree, you could tell they had grand plans for their first 3D entry, but they tried backpedaling way too hard after the Gen 5 controversy by pandering to Kanto fans and their tech was simply not up to snuff. They couldn't do everything they wanted, awful performance during normal play and especially triple battles is the best example of their lack of optimization.
Gen 7 was a special case, I think it worked but you could tell that a different approach was taken. The good, and the bad, came from that new approach as you could still see the same atrophy that set in during Gen 6 if you looked deep enough. As of Gen 8, and now Gen 9, the decay is unquestionable. I wish Pokemon would go back to stupid controversies like this one with Lenora, rather than the likes of Dexit or the 70$ DLCs or the recent ugly trainers and DEI. At least back then, Gamefreak genuinely wanted to make a better product, even if they did stupid shit to get there, these days they can't even pretend to care.
Also since the next will be release next year they might have more time for it.Honestly I think they’ll be a few more gens before the people making the games find their grove again.
As I’ve said. You can tell they actually liked Legends and had a direction that would have worked with SV if not for the performance issues. I think if they can stop those from happening things will be.
It's really good imo. Not Kaizo level bullshit but you do actually have to have some kind of strategy. Like towards the end of the game and the post game you'll need semi comp / comp build pokemon. To try and bring this topic from going into further discussion about waifus and which is woke or not(the inevitability of every Pokemon discussion), I'm curious if it's actually good. I like competitive in Pokemon because it gives you a purpose to breed/train/collect Pokemon long after the main story. Pokemon single player was always underwhelming and too easy, it rarely even plays with the new gameplay mechanics introduced(how many double battles were there in Ruby/Sapphire again?). Once you're done with the game, that's when you put your skills to the test in either Battle Facilities or online. Kinda feels pointless to collect more Pokemon if there is nothing to do with them, that's one reason why I just don't enjoy first two gens as much(In FR/LG you can send the Pokemon you train to other games and HG/SS has a Battle Frontier so it fixes that problem. Crystal's Battle Tower is ass so I don't count it). Then again, if the game really does require a modicum of skill to play thru it, I guess that adds at least some nuance to the training and collection part of the game. It's one thing to use the most powerful Pokemon available, it's another(and often more fun) to try out less used ones and try to make them work. If I can create an interesting party and play around with the game's mechanics instead of just blindly pressing the "Super Effective" button all game like I do in most mainline single player campaigns, that would be great. It's got the obvious 4chan humor and stuff but there's a lot of soul in it. Idk what kind of stuff you like in a rom. My favorite is just collecting the nice fakemon. Alot of people do think it's probably one of the best romhacks just gameplay wise.
So few that people are surprised when you have to double battle the twins and realise that their single player team is not prepped for it and get smashed.(how many double battles were there in Ruby/Sapphire again?).
From the entire bullshit that was Team Star to her battle theme, Penny exudes the same energy most teenagers have in private, where they believe themselves to be "the baddest motherfuckers on Earth," thus it is imperative that you don't trifle with them. Then, when you actually see them, they're some twink/petiti whose only claim to their self-assured edginess is most likely their aesthetics (le two tone hair or dark clothing). On Penny being trans, that is mainly the Tumblr hair, the being targetted of bullying, and the traits that appear autistic. TVTropes also claim Eevee being popular with trannies, Sylveon having tranny colours, Penny being a shy computer geek (a field filled with trannies) and Penny's baggy clothes being relatable to trannies who do not feel commfortable showing their natural bodies. Honestly, all of those are big reaches to me.
That is Middle School Syndrome, no?From the entire bullshit that was Team Star to her battle theme, Penny exudes the same energy most teenagers have in private, where they believe themselves to be "the baddest motherfuckers on Earth," thus it is imperative that you don't trifle with them. I'm actually pretty fresh off of a replay of Clover's Kanto equivalent and was looking for an excuse to sperg out about it (there's a whole ass johto postgame equivalent that's apparently it's own game worth of content, but I always get burnt out at that point.)To try and bring this topic from going into further discussion about waifus and which is woke or not(the inevitability of every Pokemon discussion), I'm curious if it's actually good. That game actually came out beyond the demo?I wonder... what are this thread's thoughts on Pokémon Sage?
Wasn't one of the reasons why PLA had decent performance due to the help they got from monolith? And gamefreak refused their help for SVAlso since the next will be release next year they might have more time for it.
I think some of SV problems where also that it and LA where both made together at the same time that why some stuffs from LA where not carried over to SV (like shiny sparkles , frostbite and the PokeBall capture mechanic) since there trying to experiments some stuffs on both games.
Monolith help them with area zero in SV.Wasn't one of the reasons why PLA had decent performance due to the help they got from monolith? And gamefreak refused their help for SV
