Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Am I the only one who just doesn't see the appeal of shiny hunting? Like at all?

Finding the right Pokemon you want is already tedious enough as it is. Why would you want to search for hours and hours for one that's only difference is that it has different colors?
I've spent a lot of money on these stupid games, I want to get my money's worth. Since I can't battle competitively worth a damn the only thing I can do is shiny hunt to keep me playing after finishing the main story. Does it suck? Yeah, it isn't much of a reward at the end of the day, but it makes me happy and it's something I can just mindlessly do while listening to YouTube or something.

Pokémon starters lean two ways.

Either the starters for the gens are pretty good, or plain shit. It seems it’s leaning toward the latter this time around.

I can’t help but chuckle though at the Donald Trump hair on the water starter.

Now I remember where I've seen that dumpy-looking apple crocodile before.

Funnily enough Fuecoco reminds me of the Baby Dragon Chefs and Waiters from Rayman Origins.

I can usually decide what starter I'm going to take by first appearance alone, and it looks like I'll be going with the grass cat this time. Croc boy looks a bit goofy, and duck is just duck. My guess is the final form of duck is gonna be some sort of giant swan or goose.

Yeah, right now I'm leaning toward Sprigatito (the cat) since I'm a cat person, but I'll wait and see what the final evolutions look like before I make my final choice.

Also just wanted to say that I'm hoping the duck has a sailor theme and his final evo's design takes inspiration from Popeye the Sailor.

I fuckin' hate the daybreakers update in legends. Just when I was actually enjoying a Pokemon game for the first time since Emerald/White 2. Not even about the shiny hunting being patched, what did they fuck up with the ai in the update? Sitting back and chucking jet balls is pointless now since if it's an aggressive pokemon, the next one to spawn in will automatically know where you're at and aggro on you. I also don't really care for the massive mass outbreaks being on a timer either. It would make running around the map more fun if the spawns just stayed there until you cleared them out. If GF didn't like people resetting outbreaks, they incentived it with this new update. Save at camp, give the Munchlax berries, check the spawns. All garbage you don't want? Reload the save to get the berries back, leave and try again.

I'm hoping they keep the QoL changes from Arceus in the Gen 9 games though. At this point, they can't make a shittier mainline game than Sw/Sh though, so at least the new games have that going for them. Was a bit concerned when I saw gen 8 pokemon in the trailer, if the new norm moving forward is to not include every pokemon, can GF at least stop pretending that some pokemon suck and can be removed where nobody would miss them? Keep the fan favorites and removes the useless shit likeVolbeat/Illumise, Maracactus, the Gen 8 starters, etc.

I haven’t had that problem with the AI on mine. I can still chuck Jet Balls at aggressive Pokémon and so long as I move away a bit from where I throw, they don’t sense me.

I’m thinking we’ll go back to regular turn-based in Gen 9, but keep the “battle in the overworld” stuff from Arceus.

I'd be fine with that, the overworld battling is so much faster that it'd be hard to go back.

Saw this on twitter, it feels like a massive reach. People really just wanna be mad about the think the majority is enjoying lol
To add onto that, if it looks odd when you flip it, it was obviously designed with its original orientation in mind. Of course it'll look weird when you change it.

Red and Blue were, on a technical perspective, the shittiest Pokemon game ever made. It was held together with duct tape and glue.
Gameplay-wise, I haven't played any Pokemon game, so IDK, but based on what I've seen X/Y/Omega/Alpha/Sword/Shield are all very shitty in their own ways.

This whole ordeal is so dumb and I don't understand it. It's possibly because I'm not a Pokemon fanboy, but really I just don't get it. Not every demon is featured in Shin Megami Tensei/Persona games, so why does the Pokemons being missing specifically offend people when there are thousands of games where some of the important characters are missing and are basically replaced by other characters? Some of my favourite demons from Shin Megami Tensei 3 are completely cut from Persona 5, but I don't make a fuss about it.

The real issue with Pokemon is that it's boring (Atleast it looks boring), I cannot imagine a kid with ADHD get to the end of the game, let alone reach the elite 4 in any of the games. This is partly why I was interested in Legends of Arceus for a first Pokemon game because it looks more involved than all the other games with slow-ass gameplay and random encounters RPG bullshit since Red and Blue.
But I do have one worry that made me not buy it, it's because it looks too much like Breath of the Wild. Long story short, I didn't like Breath of the Wild, everything felt so bland, barren and empty and you had the occasional enemy to worry about, Legends of Arceus looks equally as bland, barren and empty as Breath of the Wild and I'm afraid it's just going to bore me to sleep.

Part of it is that Home as a solution sucks as a storage service and is overpriced as fuck, alot of shit tied to a mobile version of the app, they cut out shit like Global Trade Station from the games to boost home's feature set, a cloud service from a publisher notoriously bad with online, and not as smooth as pokemon bank despite being 4 times the price.
also with SWSH an aspect of it was the whole "High Quality Models/Animation" shit which I think was improved on for PLA and now Gen 9 from the looks of it.

I say this in the nicest way possible - the Pokémon community, despite the series being made for and aimed at literal children, is quite possibly the single most autistic group I’ve ever seen. Yes, I include most of us in there as well.

While I personally didn’t have a problem with the Pokémon Culling - theres like, 900 of the fuckers, it had to happen eventually - some people have been trading and transferring Pokémon game to game since the OG Red and Blue. I can somewhat understand them being pissed that they can’t bring their favourite Pokémon that they’ve had for 20 years into the newest game because GF didn’t include it, but again, it had to happen sooner or later. Add in the line about “high quality models and animations”, only for most if not all of the models that weren’t new Pokémon looking like they were ripped from the 3DS games, and the same low effort animations in Sword and Shield, yeah the Pokémon Community was a decent dumpster fire when Gen 8 cane out.

I’ve said it before, though maybe not ITT - Pokémon is, at this point, Baby’s First RPG. It’s easy enough that even Twitch Chat is able to shitpost their way through one of these games, and that’s probably by design.

Legends, I feel like was them throwing a bone to the older fans who’ve been bitching that this series needed some long overdue changes, and to playtest them for Gen 9 after seeing that reveal. It being well received might mean that, for fucking once, this series might change something worth a damn, and actually keep the change going forward.

BotW is admittedly a nice template to base a game off of, but you’re not wrong about Legends being fairly empty. I don’t overly mind - sure, exploring you can find most everything pretty easily, but there’s something about the gameplay loop that’s managed to reel me in. Wish there was more to do besides catching Pokémon - we’ll see what the DLC’s add - but if I want to play a Pokémon game it scratches that itch.

I'm not sure if you see the problem, so I'll help you out. Of course something looks more aesthetically pleasing flipped a certain way than the other, but what the person above demonstrated is a technique that allows artists to spot obvious mistakes that they'd not notice otherwise. Infact that's what the designer should have done to check if the artwork was done correctly, but nope.

The eyes aren't spaced out correctly, one is closer to the nose than the other and nope this has nothing to do with perspective since both eyes are exactly the same size.

TBFH this has no bearing on the game, it could be good or it could suck, but it won't be because an artist made a small mistake on a random official artwork and the Pokemon fanboys throwing a tantrum about it should probably find a better hobby.
