Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

When Ruby and Sapphire came out, why didn't they use the pocketmons noises from Stadium 1 and 2 for the 1st 2 generation 'mons?

Why'd they go with the 8-bit beeping instead until X & Y, when they just modified the 8-bit beepy noises to sound more natural?

(except for Pikachu who they gave the anime voice to)

I mean, "they just modified the 8-bit beepy noises to sound more natural" applies to the stadium noises too. I guess they felt it was better to use the raw versions than crush the quality of the modified ones.

Yeah but X&Y noises still sound like beepy sounds but with an echo added. Not too different.

The Stadium noises were much better, like Pidgey actually sounding like a bird for instance.

(although like you said they could've been badly compressed before the days of the XY games)

Some of the Stadium noises were just generic noises altered in pitch to suit different 'mons.

The codename for the sound effects for Stadium show the sound used for the Pidgey line as "Common Loon" which is also shared with Zapdos but slightly altered. Primeape and Mankey had chimp sfx that were also reused with Aipom.

Makes sense they weren't used for subsequent games when they had a chunk that differed a lot from the handheld games SFX.

Still sounds good though.

I guess the way they did it in X&Y is still OK, although Pikachu may sound out-of-place with the anime voice.

(What if they made all the 'mons have anime voices starting in X&Y instead of enhancing the 8-bit noises?)

Finally played Arceus and not bad.

Also found it hilarious metronome isn't a move but now pokemon associated with the move can learn shit like flamethrower without even being fire type, which is pretty fun. Might make pvp interesting to say the least, if we get pvp that is.

Oh shit, Arceus doesn't have PvP? I thought it looked interesting, thought about getting it eventually, but lol no thanks.
Tbh I got it mostly because the new game style and it looked like a chill game to play between maddening platformers. Didn't expect much and made fun of the graphics for the first six minutes of the open fields... but I did actually get into the game and enjoyed the story, tho, even if it's basically a prequel for Diamond-Pearl.

-Also the Hisui forms were kinda appealing for some of the pokes. Just sad my boy Drifblim couldn't be a paper lantern ghost, tho.

The 8bit beepy noises were more iconic. Gen 6 updated cries just don't catch the pokemons appeal.

What is your opinion on Sneasler?
I've never played Arceus but i like the design and noticed it gets hated on a lot.
Not as cool as Weavile of course but it's solid for what it is and well done like most new evos and hisuian forms.

Right now the only options for high level fights are boss fight rechallenges and the challengers at the training grounds. Maybe it's changed since I haven't played in a couple months, but PVP isn't it.

Not my fave Hisui form, but it's nicer than people originally made it out to be.
The lanky limbs and large(r) claws are nice choices to set it apart as a solitary cliffdweller, but the coloration seems unfinished to me with the stark white toeclaws vs. the dark red and darker purple.

-Also the alpha Sneasler's implied resting bitch face next to a regular sized Weavile's smug little shit face is👌when you visit them at the ranch and they're on display together.

Maybe it's the fact that it's yet another fighting type Pokemon that people hated? It seems like Sneasler's design would be the dumbest thing to criticize in Arceus when you got fuckers that look like Bibarel running around still wasting dex slots.

Seeing as Eevee and Gigantamax Meowth use their Japanese anime voices on the Switch titles even thought they are dubbed in the anime(the latter was mostly due the team rocket Meowth outright talking), it would most likely just be their Japanese voices rather than the dub, since making new cries for every language would be a massive pain, especially since there are many cases in every dub language where the cries are inconsistent over the 25 year run of the anime, especially from Pokemon that never belonged to a main or even reoccurring character but have appeared more than once.

I was thinking that may have been the case re: all the languages/regional releases.
But now I low-key want them to use guzzlord's anime cry in the games.

Also the Porygon line may not have noises for reasons.

Do Sword and Shield and later games still use the same noises for Gen 1 & 2 mons as X & Y?

Outside of Eevee starting with Let's Go, the cries are the same as X and Y. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there is an item called DS sounds. It not only reverts the music to the original Gen IV versions of the songs, it also reverts all of the cries to what they sounded like in Gen I-V

Do you know where I can find the DS sounds item? I haven’t been able to find it since.
