Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Announcement is a bit meh to me. But I've been turned off of Pokemon for a while now and mostly keep an eye on it so I can look and see if anything tempts me back.

It's not a bad trailer, it's just fine I suppose. Getting a better look at the world is nice and confirming simultaneous multiplayer is also pretty good, but it definitely seems like this was more a trailer for people who were going to pick up the game regardless rather than being the kinda trailer that convinces you to give the game a chance if you weren't already going to. They're probably holding info for a presentation but I'm surprised there wasn't a tease at whatever unique mechanic they're going with this time (like Dynamaxing)

I think it's the multiplayer that they're going to lead with this time, in which case thank fuck. Even if I like a lot of the evolutions and maxes as designs, it's probably better to have mechanics that don't fuck with the actual battles. Don't fix what isn't broken, y'know?

Lechonk is Normal, probably the Rattata/Bidoof of the Gen. The little plant is Smoliv, an unusual Grass/Normal type, Pawmi is the Electric type Pikachu of this Gen. Legendaries are Koraimon and Miraimon.
- Literally a fucking olive oil pokemon.

It's Koraidon and Miraidon, we're not digimon here. And I know Mirai means Future, so they're literally future/past mons.

Hopefully not.
If the main addition is being able to party up and they don't really build on that then I can see the game feeling a bit lacking there, especially if you end up playing alone. Hopefully they'll add side content which involves grouping up together in a party, and also have something special in the battle system.

It is a tricky balance though. I don't want them to do nothing and for the gameplay to be immediately stagnant, but at the same time, I don't want some dumb gimmicky thing that lacks any depth.

Can anyone here recommend me some Pokemon Rom Hacks? I am interested in Pokemon Clover but would like to know if there is any other good ones out there.
i played pokemon Uranium not too long ago. it made me realize that i still like the core concept of pokemon and that game freak dont know what to do with the franchise.

its surprising a pokemon fan game made me care for its plot and characters.

I felt nothing watching this trailer. The textures and models still look like ass, the designs are meh, still no voice acting, no interesting new gameplay mechanics shown off; it just looks like a rom hack of SwSh. And all the YouTube comments are “wow this game has new starters and professors and legendaries must buy!!!” like those aren’t in literally every single new generation ever.

Maybe someday we’ll get a PMD2 remake or new PMD, but until then, maybe nu-Pokemon just isn’t for me… *sigh*

Le chonk has arrived

What, you thought I was joking?

Looks like an early game grass type.

I think this is our pika-new.

Hello everybody it's markiplier and welcome back to five nights at freddies.

Professors Sada and Toro. expect porn of them both together shortly. Sada's more nature-themed, toro's more tech-themed.

Looks like this is open world Pokemon centers, these nice kiosks.

Big feature of the game seems to be the group multiplayer. Up to four people can run around together.
Follow pokemon are a thing at all times, too.
Also, this is our newest gen's Science is Amazing Fatso. Some traditions don't change and never should.

Fairly basic tree but damn is that a sexy cryogonal. those are some t e x t u r e s b o i s.

Seems to be a nature vs. tech theme for these two legendaries. Something like B&W, maybe? Professors are colored and themed nature and tech, too, if you scroll up.

He's got jets for legs.

It seems like they're not digimon, neopets, yo-kai or ranchable monsters. nah, these are definitely spectrobes.
Fuck the fakemon has more effort than this

I hate how Pokémon has been using memes in their games for awhile now. First "Hangry Mode", now Lechonk. Almost guranteed to age poorly. What's next, a Pokémon based off of Big Chungus?
The word Hangry isn't a meme and while Lechonk's name borders on meme slang, most people can easily assume the name refers to how "chunky" it is.

Bitch as we all do, games still likely going to print money. GF has a working formula, and their Main Market is literal children - the fact that people who grew up on the series still buy the games is probably a nice bonus as far as they’re concerned.

Trust me, I’ve wanted remakes of Coliseum and XD for over a decade now - hell, those would’ve actually made me buy a Wii U - I feel your pain

here is your monster.
Seriously, digimon at least has more interesting monster concepts of various cultures and even objects, pokémon designs are so fucking lame.

Even my own favorites pokémons are victim of this....

Now check this out: what if we fuse an angel and a devil and give some gigantic arm? "b-bb-b-but it isn't a monster, fucking hell, look where we are, we live watching monsters in this website, we could make our own monsters if we wanted based on pure reality, and the digital aspect of the setting is perfect for it.

And we also have the cute friendly monsters too, so it is a win-win scenario.

Also, Lechón is spanish for Piglet.

Even though I like digimon, if you take that design philosophy what you end up with is a schizophrenic monster design that wildly varies in detail, quality, tone, and generally everything, and makes it just look like a mess.

To say nothing of the awful naming scheme that makes every single evolved mon a chore to say, the frequently repeated designs (like Sukamon and Platinum Sukamon, because they couldn't just have one sentient poop digimon), the schizophrenic back-and-forthing as they digivolve, the fact that lines nearly all end in either "mecha godzilla" or "cosplayer"... I don't know, I prefer my more stable and generally more consistent pokemon designs overall. I prefer a design scheme where I almost never have to ask "why the fuck did the cute little yellow thing turn into a six-winged bishonen guy". And then there's the constant need to one up each other, resulting in detail creep until it's just a complete mess.

Sounds to me like Digimon is more your cup of tea than Pokemon. The design philosophy that you're complaining about has been prevalent in Pokémon since it's inception.

Not to mention that you're seemingly forgetting that Pokemon also have Monsters based on Inanimate objects and cultures like Aegislash the living sword and shield or Jinx and Froslass that are based on Japanese Yokai.

I feel obligated to point out, despite my own love of Digimon, that there’s something like 10 literal reskins of Agumon alone.

Say what we will about the Pika Clones, Pokémon hasn’t gone full Lazy Recolour on Pokémon Designs, not counting Shinies…

Lechonk is nice and simple, I like it. He's a little too round for his own good, especially the 3d model at certain angles.

Smolive is a babymon more or less. I wish I could've seen the evolution to make a better judgement but at least this one looks better in 3d.

Pawmi is so obnoxiously toyetic I have no goddamn clue what kind of animal it is based on. Apparently it's some sort of electric rodent/vole? I ain't into it.

The two new box legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon, are big big kaiju-looking motherfuckers. People claim that these two have a very strong inspiration from motorbikes and the like. They better transform into real rideable motorbikes or I'm not buying.
