Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I may have overestimated Shiny Roaring Moon’s ability to get Pokémon off of Home’s GTS, I‘ve only gotten Iron Crown and Iron Boulder from trading them.

I guess I’ll have to fire up Violet and Shiny hunt Iron Valiant if I want to get Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt without having to bulldoze through Perrin’s sidequests.

Oh, and TPCi announced a new Premium Tournament Collection themed around Iono.
It isn't, for me Spanish cuisine is stuff like paella, tortilla de patatas, or churros but they needed something that can use a lot of different ingredients for the game mechanic. That kind of Spanish food can be found in the restaurants around towns with premade effects, but I never used those meals since you're encouraged to make your own sandwich to control what you want. Even when there's a gym challenge around restaurants and food it's Japanese food. It really makes the region feel generic on top of the bland open-world design.
I use one of the Restaurant Meals since it has a Raid Power: Water Lv. 2 effect and it’s easier than making a sandwich with the same raid power…

...but it’s not a dish that’s unique to Paldea, it’s the Exclusive Four-Piece Sushi (Frost Set) from Montenevera‘s Sushi High Roller restaurant.
I'd rather do it with pizza, muricans love pizza
Ironically enough the cafeteria at Blueberry Academy has a pizza as one of its meals. Unfortunately the effects are ass (Teensy Power: All Types Lv. 2
and Raid Power: All Types Lv. 1) compared to the Academy Special meal’s effects (Catching Power: All Types Lv. 1, Egg Power Lv. 1, and Sparkling Power: All Types Lv. 1).

As to what they look like in-game, here’s the pizza, it’s basically a deep-dish sausage pizza.

And here’s the Academy special. It consists of a bowl of ramen, a serving of fries covered in and assortment of sauces ( I can make out ketchup, ranch, and what looks like nacho cheese) and a lettuce leaf for presentation, a serving of flan on top of a doughnut, and what looks like handful of jellybeans.

And here are the other two options at the cafeteria, an over-the-top blueberry shake and a basket of fries with ketchup. And IIRC the students even mention that the entire menu isn’t particularly healthy.

There are some salty ass Pokefanatics shitting their pants over PalWorld’s success. It’s literally that “leave the multimillion company alone” meme.
They should be happy. Having competition is the only existential crisis the Pokémon company can suffer that might snap them in line to complete a competent and decent game for once. Without competition everything will be SV forever.

I wonder if they can keep the momentum, Temtem was also a "Pokemon killer" and it crashed and burned to the ground.
But a part of me thinks competition won't just automatically make the games good, Yokai Watch might have been pressuring Pokemon during Gen 7 and that didn't stop the gen from being so lukewarm at best.

Pokemon Killers all have the same problem WoW Killers had - they just don't scratch the proverbial itch the same way what they're "trying to kill" does, and attempts to do so just make you a reskin with a gimmick. Or a fangame with a "dark, 3edgy5me story and absurd difficulty level" that misses the fucking point entirely.

Palworld at least has one thing going for it - I don't think its devs were the ones pushing the Pokemon Killer thing, I think that was the Internet being the Internet. Whether or not the games a one-off, if they can avoid falling into the trap of every other game thats tired to shake the proverbial table then they're already better off than most.

I kind of had some weird luck with Shiny hunting Iron Valiant last night. I only got two on a Fairy-type Sparkling sandwich (with one having a Mark) but after scrounging Tera Raids for more Herba Mystica I managed to find four on a second sandwich with one of those also having a Mark.

Unfortunately, I ran out of Premier Balls so I had to catch the second set of Shinies in Timer Balls. The theming's still there but I just like the uniformity of Premier Balls for Shiny Iron Valiant.

Also, changed things up a bit. I swapped out the remaining Shiny Roaring Moon's trade requirements from Gouging Fire to Bloodmoon Ursaluna and trading Shiny Iron Valiants for Scarlet's DLC Paradox Pokemon. So far only Roaring Moon's trade went through.

I'm also considering moving my Violet save over to my Switch Lite to make Tera Raids easier and Shiny hunting certain Pokémon easier, I can't do that if I have both titles' saves on the same console.

Cobsidering their designs are just ripping off Pokemon and it’s very blatant, it will be a one off when the edgy joke factor has fallen off in a month. Actual sucsess that matters will get Nintendo to take notice and likely sue them into oblivion for all the stolen designs.

Aren't Gouging Fire trades at this point just hackers trying to launder their GFs for a legit one?

Only for people trading away Gouging Fire AFAIK, I’ve seen two blatant hacks (caught in a Cherish Ball) asking for impossible trades (one asking for a Paldean Wooper than can travel to SWSH, the other asking for a Galarian Meowth that can travel to LGPE) and one that may as well be hacked due to the request being the same as that first hacked GF.

I thought the pizza would be New York style but deep dish conveys "will clog your arteries" better.

As for Pokèmon killers, the franchise is carried by the attachment you form to your vidya monsters. The games and shows themselves are all about the power of friendship between the main characters and their Pokèmon. All the way back since Red and Blue, you were told your rival lost the Champion title to you because you have a stronger bond with your Pokèmon than he does. After all you're the one who spent that time raising and battling with those Pokèmon and now you've beaten the game.

If a competing game can't recreate that feeling, it's got no chance killing the series.

And it simply won’t ever kill it unless it pops off to the degree Pokemon did. Otherwise eventually the audiance will outgrow the games or the wider brand won’t make enough money to maintain itself. Because they won’t put the money into slapping the brand on everything.

The people designing Pokemon knew what they were doing in a way the competition never does

Good thing that Gamefreak is doing everything in their power to make it a pain in the ass to transfer Pokemon you've had from previous generations then, or just downright make it impossible if they are not "the right ones"!
If another company can capture this sort of collecting autism magic, then I think they have a chance to go against Pokemon. Problem is that it will take several games and years of successful community growth in order to get to that point, hard to drop 30 years of Pokemon to then put your trust and time/energy into this new upstart

Honestly, I see tha the backlash is based on Pals being very obviously copied from Pokémon, especially Decidueye and Xatu, and the company' supposed use of AI and NFTs.

The problem is, to actually knock Pokémon off the top of the mountain, someone legitimately has to catch lightning in a bottle, and not let that shit go.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the faith in Modern Game Devs on any level that anyone would be able to do this, and maintain momentum, without fucking it up and the crown going back to Pokémon.

At this point most of what I’m seeing is just people calling it shovelware with an advertising budget. There’s the obligatory digs at Game Freak, but I feel the hype is dying off pretty quickly now that we’re past release.

Honestly looking at some of the designs, I’d believe AI was used for the ones that weren’t blatant rips.

Good news is that Gamefreak didn't know what the hell they were doing either, they were incompetent and untalented from the start. They simply had the good fortune to know the right people(Nintendo) who were actually smart enough to capitalize on the Pokemon craze. I doubt Pokemon would even release gen 2 as we know it, if at all, without Nintendo's help.
This gives me hope that somebody out there with a lot more talent than current Gamefreak can make a better refinement of the formula
