Is that what he meant by that? My read of it was that he found the production and upkeep of the game to be addictive to him, thus interfering with his home and work life. Which sounds pretty reasonable to me, a project like that probably takes a lot out of your day.

I'll admit I couldn't read the original twitter message in it's entirety because the user here posted a really blurry version and only archived the response about it being muted. Still don't buy it. Worked on it as a solo project for 9 months, paying money out of pocket for assets, project gets a ton of attention and suddenly now it's too much for him even though he has help? Even if it's something as simple as "I'm tired of working on this, it's now in the hands of the other devs", saying that it's taking too much time out of your day to keep up with maintenance is something that can be remedied. No way that's the full picture.
And I still don't blame him for backing out on it due to outside pressure from fans (especially trannies but TBH it doesn't even matter who they are if they're that crazy about it). Keeping up with that would require him to make the game his top priority, and if he's already got a job and a life then that's a tall order. Toby Fox did a very smart thing by keeping himself private as much as he could after he released his game.

Their lamestream pokemon games always do better. Both Swsh and SV made great sales numbers despite being how they are.

Worse reviewed Nintendo game, highest (multiplayer) selling of that year.

Now, sales are impressive, but how's that player retention? Nintendo will never release the player count numbers so you can only really speculate, but I'd imagine it dropped hard.

Like it never happened, this is pretty much exclusively a discord issue for now as most outside of it don't care.

I mean the dev is just a cuck if he truly believes what he believes he should just have stand his ground and said he didn't wanted Troons or troon sympathizer in his community. If more people were like J.K Rowling, this people wouldn't be able to do such drama. Anyways he should just let this people tear it other, the game will die without him

Still find it funny how he sited the gacha mechanics as the issue that is causing a crisis of faith when really he, like a lot of developers, don't really understand the social side of game development. Reminds me of the Dwarf Fortress developers terrible choice in publisher but I digress.

Thought I was the only one, whenever I mention this even in rather good discords I'm called crazy. Honestly I can hardly remember most of the Pokemon themes after XY except single ones. Meanwhile I'm listening to whole playlists of the old games' ost. Remixes and recreations too. There's some good ones, like Rose's theme (like fuck me that's really good), Scarlet/Violet's final boss theme...and that's it really. And I guess Lysandre since I mentioned XY. BW/BW2 was peak. In regards to player retention, I’d assume it’s the same as always. Mass buying, play main story, dip.

And while that is a completely normal and expected trend, I absolutely would not want to publicly mention that data with the way the internet is. Because people love to shit on things just cause and ‘analyse’ things with no real understanding of what they are doing.

I would be interested to know how many people came back for SV DLC. Because releasing it in two parts can’t be good for retention. To say nothing of Limited Time Events.

It’s why post game should have more challenging content. Because only the hardcore players are left

The Piers theme would have been way better with vocals, though the Marnie theme was pretty good. The final Hop theme is pretty good too

Made even stranger by other themes having chanting or cheering so they could have done it if they wanted to.

Much like every other issue with modern Pokémon, this decision probably goes back to Gen V with the Dennis meme.

That being said, I’m still baffled that with the state of modern voice acting, especially on any media coming from Japan, anyone would want vocals included. It wouldn’t be no Jump Up Superstar.

Honestly I can hardly remember most of the Pokemon themes after XY except single ones.

I don't get why they don't experiment more with the music. Majority of the battle songs in the games are just 180-200 BPM tunes with drums that go "BOOM, TISS, BOOM, TISS, BOOM TISS". Black and White was the start of the right direction with a different drum pattern, which is appreciated. The gym battle song in that game is kickin. B2W2 added more goodness with Colress' battle theme and the rival battle theme.

Ah...I sort of memory holed it since I really do not like Zinnia as a character. Theme is good.

To be fair, it can provide insight into the game's performance market wise. But yeah a lot of pseudo-intellectuals tend to use those to make as many points as possible in the hopes something lands.

They didn't even have him sing in a cutscene either. Someone at GuntFreak thought this was serviceable. Which is it because Pokemon "fans" eat any slop that comes their way. Reminder that Pokemon Generations is the best thing to come out of TPC in years, and that shit was 7 years ago. Unless you count Arceus which...honestly I thought was ok at best.

Are we ever gonna get Shiny Legendaries? Sick of all the gifts that's just a member of someone's real world team and stuff from the anime.

I have a feeling that Shiny Koraidon/Miraidon will be distributed next year. Game Freak will have to do a repeat of the Shiny Zacian/Zamazenta events to remind players that the Pokemon Legends titles, while they're still mainline games, won't replace the main "core" titles that are used in social events and tournaments.

As to how they'll be distributed I think it'll be the same as it was back then: you'll have to go to GameStop to get a card with a serial code on it and there's a good chance you'll get the opposite version (Miraidon for Scarlet, Koraidon for Violet).

The Shiny Treasures of Ruin, Shiny Loyal Three, and Shiny Raging Bolt/Iron Crown/Gouging Fire/Iron Boulder will probably be given out as participation prizes for online tournaments like the Shiny Galarian Bird Trio was. There's also a chance they could be given out via a shared serial code or in-store event.

Shiny Ogerpon and Terapagos will either get an event in Gen 10 or you'll have to wait until they're introduced into GO and then wait at least a year after that to get their Shiny forms.

Shiny Pecharunt/Walking Wake/Iron Leaves will either remain unreleased like a majority of Mythical Pokémon or they'll get some form of Masterwork Research in GO.

IIRC Game Freak commented on the lack of voice acting a few years ago, their reasoning behind it was largely based around time constraints (IMO there's probably some budgetary issues as well, I don't think players would be too happy with just English and Japanese VAs) and letting players form their own opinions on how characters' voices sound.

That said do you really want the main line games to have voice acting knowing full well it'll be done cheaply and, in the case of non-Japanese voice acting, be a non-union job handled by TPCi?

Whenever people mention voice acting for the mainline games, I just think of how squeaky Pokemon Trainer sounds in Smash Bros. Not that that's an excuse, the dub is usually decent in a lot of the misc. animated projects they do. Pokemon Concierge had a good dub, just to use a recent example.

I'd say spin it off into PG to prevent it from clogging up the thread, I did that with PreciousLeaf in order to prevent the Pokémon Lolcow thread from devolving into a PL spergfest.

Been playing with the new TCG set today. That fighting Ogrepon is so fucking stupid, but I love it. Its Ability is (This Pokemon cannot take damage from Pokémon with Abilities). In the current meta game, that is literally 90% of the Mon cards anyone uses. With some Bosses Order's and a Beach Resort, it is so easy right now to put most people into a state where they literally can't do anything but wait to deck out, slowly be beaten to death, or give up. This stupid thing essentially just turns off the game if you play it well.

Grasspon isn't too bad, its ability is nice, but its a bit on the weak side. You really have to pump it with energy to get a decent hit. I never see any reason to really use the others, too much investment when just focusing on Fight and Grass seems to work just fine.
