I am playing the pokemon azure platinum, this hack is weird.

It adds stuff from the anime that is quite cool like new characters and that tourney before elite 4 and anime original characters at the same time.

But for gameplay... They make some weird changes:

The battles are changed, status effects are basically reduced to 5pp, so there isn't grinding. You cant use itens in battle, you have this option to heal you team from every place you want, so it is almost like you are speedrunning. Reutilizable tms

Because of these changes, every battle becomes a matter of speed and power, if you KO your enemy faster you are better, I had slower pokémon multiple times so I was losing even with a lvl 5 higher pokemon because of the speed. Fighting weaville is a pain in the ass, so I had to catch my own and change my rampardos for it.

And of course all battles have the level changed but it isn't like a drayano hack where you have to grind and pierce together your strategy. It feels really off. It is almost like you are speedrunning the game.

Also I didn't remember the giratina puzzle being that hard when I beat it as a kid, I had to look out for the ball on the right since I couldn't figure out the path to it lol.

I will attempt the league now, I don't remember shit except Cynthia and that fire dude

This is my current team, yeah, I have fallen to gardevoir brainrot because she is my only special attacker that learns my elemental tms, unlike the other ones.

Pokemon Sleep is also fucking cancer and even a year after release nothing has improved (bringing this up because its apparently such a revolutionary idea that Nintendo went on to patent it, and its a perfect example of how complacent them and GF are).

Pretty much nothing. Yes, you read that right. It still randomly crashes mid-sleep session, they claim they shortened all the animations and improved load times... yet even with "skip animations" on, there is no noticible difference. It still takes a 5 minute slog just to grab all the daily shit and make a meal, when a "get ready for bed" button that does all of it in one click isn't hard to implement. God forbid you don't sit all the way through the research check in the morning up until the "daily reward" screen, because if you closed the game even a fucking frame before that, the next time you boot it up, you're sitting through that fucking check again.

But of course all the monetization options work perfectly fine, and yes, they unironically expect rather large sums of money for mats and candies during events, on top of a MONTHLY FUCKING SUBSCRIPTION thats damn near mandatory if you want to evolve anything that isn't a fucking Pikachu in less than several months. These events are also a joke as theres been a total of 3 major events, in an entire year, and they've all revolved around the legendary dogs and forking over a bunch of money for the chance to get one that doesn't suck ass. All about 4 months apart at that. They have "good sleep week" 'events' in between, but all these really do is give you more sleep points for a couple days, and if you pay for the subscription (I don't) its damn near irrelevant because you almost always have more points than you can spend anyway because all the shop items have a MONTHLY buy limit. A year in, still no Home support. Wether they intended to add it or not, its senseless NOT TO imo, and would give a decent reason for people to even bother with Sleep. As it stands currently, theres zero reason for anyone to actually play it. All you're doing is giving yourself an extra chore before bed and when you wake up.

Literally the only thing I can give Sleep is they're decently generous with the "free" premium currency. It's not enough to buy the largest packs, but you can get some every month or two because you will end up with enough gems one way or another.

TL;DR they added a very small handful of pokemon in a year (like less than 30, closer to 15), usually with a price tag and fixed nothing that makes it a miserable chore to keep up with.

Back here, man fuck this game.

This image as you can see is the team that I was going to use in the E4, so I use my TMs and prepare to enter.

I can't, I have to go inside the Victory road and find Rowan. So I have to bring all the HM slaves back in the team and even add hm moves to my pokemon to go there.

Inside I found that Black haired girl so there I have to fight her full team of six with HM slaves to be allowed to keep going. I lose the first time since I didnt expected it. I go back here and win against her. Now I must bring her back to the cave entrance.

Guess what? I have counted. 21 trainers inside with lvl 95+ full six pokemon each (to not count the double battles)

So I beat them all and finally found Rowan.

Guess the fuck what? He wants to battle me. His full team is all lvl 99 with all starters, and other beasts of strenght. And as I said before: this hack is all about OHKO and speed. There is no strategy, neither me or him use healing or any itens. It is a matter of high power attack and speed.

You dont put this bullshit before the E4 since I just beat the tourney, a gauntlet of 21 fights (and that is because I was using the heal function, if someone wasn't using it, he would spend more time going back into the pokecenter than anything.

Also, if you want to do this shit, REMOVE THE FUCKING HMS. I CANT HAVE A COMPETITIVE TEAM WITH 2 OR LESS POKÉMONS THAT ARE HM SLAVES. Also, all the battle itens, healing itens that were given in the overworld map are not usable in battle. So it forces you to heal using the pc function or grind the fuck out of the game.

This is my team BEFORE ENTERING THE LEAGUE.

I beat the black haired woman + 21 trainers + Rowan and all wild pokemon. I bet all of them are lvl 100.

This is clearly not a drayano hack where the team are thought out to be consistent, this is just a one shot competition and see which type is stronger. I am not sure if I will even play the post game (I know I can fight steven from emerald since he is on the iron island)

This game is such a fucking bullshit it hurts. I spent 40 minutes in the fire dude fight, since the dev is a retarded that in a point where no matter with pokemon I used, he would OHKO with a big power fire move. And guess what? He would use focus sash on his pokemon, an item that is nowhere to be seen in the game, unlike those one billion super potions in the map.

So after savescumming and testing all possibilities (DS emulation doesn't allow new possibilities, so if you miss an attack, that is it, you will never get another result. So after testing it all I ended gaving up and came back. i took out my torterra and put out a giratina since the pokemon that would fuck me up were a fire rotom/drif/arcanine with fire blast and extreme speed and my only pokemon who could outspeed was staraptor and weaville (staraptor would beat his infernape and lose health enought to be taken care by others.

With giratina I could use it against rotom and the baloon, leaving others to be sacrificed by arcanine sweeping my team.

Eventually I beat him and the next fight with lucian was quite easy, except his nigger alakazam outspeeding anyone.

Cynthia was easier than expected and took me 2 tries but fuck the fire dude and the retarded dev. Such a bullshit game that I am not even sure I want to play more.

This was my team after changing the giratina/torterra: all lvl 100 as expected.

Fuck this hack.

Why would you humor the idea of Pokemon Sleep in the first place? I disagree S&V were that bad though. Technically for sure, graphically in the overworld at least, yeah I'd agree. But story wise and dex wise, I'd say it's the best in generations. Flow wise, other than Team Star, it was way way better than Alola and Galar (man Alola would be so great if they added a fuckin' skip option).

Graphics wise though I do think the pokemon themselves actually look pretty decent, and most of the indoor spaces look... Alright.

Mechanically it had flaws but I think it was mostly a step in the right direction (outside some bits - why no set battle option now? I always use it, but why is EXP share not optional now? So easy to implement).

I wish they'd work on how long text can take at the end of a battle turn though. The animations can be pretty bad but at least they're somewhat visually interesting. It's so annoying to watch the animations happen, then wait for the text boxes to pop up and appear and disappear though. There's so many battle mechanics you can line up now aswell it can get so ridiculous.

And he is there, big and blue head and all. But instead of lvl 50, now he is lvl 80! This hack creator loves us so much that he buffs the legendary for us.

I’ve also started exploring Emerald Enhanced which has some impressive feats for an Emerald hack. So far, the Achievements, genetic egg manipulation, the buddy system (basically an human follower with their own plot and helpful skills) and open world nature of it are compelling. I don’t know if they fit DexNav in here at some point but if they didn’t, I guess that’s on them.

I think I'm gonna put Revelation Emerald on hold for a little bit. I'm done with the romhack already and I only have legendary Pokemon to catch(which there are a lot more of than in base Emerald), but I am feeling too stretched-thin with all the other vidya I am playing. Dead Rising 3 or Fallout London, for instance and I have a few more I play here and there. I will likely only focus on one from here on out.
I already talked about this, but I heavily recommend the romhack if you're looking for a minimalist, but heavy on the QoL changes mod for Emerald. Playing it made me feel like playing Emerald for the first time all over again, and honestly I don't see myself ever going back unless I want to play a more in-depth romhack that adds Fairy types and new Pokemon, or if I really want to play the original again with it's archaic pre-physical and special split combat. When/if I ever come back to this, I will likely finish Revelations and move over to Fire Red/Leaf Green romhacks, which I am told there is actually more of than RSE ones since that used to be the base for all the best romhacks in the past(and the first Pokemon game many people used to mod).

I don't think this is a controversial opinion, USUM pretty much were the last actual Pokemon games. Starting with Sword and Shield(arguably even as far back as Let's Go or Pokemon Go) the rot has set in and we were given nu-Pokemon formula. The final products are just too inferior to what came before them to really be bothered with, I don't care how many new Pokemon or features they add in since I will never play the newer games again. Only exception I will make is if they evolve the formula so much that we can accept not having returning Pokemon or moves, PLA is a good example as it feels like this is the first time they tried to evolve the franchise in any substantial way in years. Knowing TPCi and Gamefreak, they will fuck it up somehow soon anyways.

Now with my last update on Azure Platinum. THANK GOD!

Since I've won the E4, a new mission was open: Azure something, where I must retrieve the arceus type plates in order to fight/catch him. These plates are all around the map and you must retrieve every single one. Sometimes they are on the map as itens, but some times they are itens that you must have to fight the owner for (examples are jasmine, steven, wallace, fuego fireworks owner ,brendan, cyrus, saturn and so on)

So after you get all plates you go to rowan and he gives you the azure flute to awaken the arceus.

EXCEPT NOT SO FAST, OUR BETTER RIVAL PAUL IS THERE AND I died again since I was moving with my hms slaves that terrible and my team wasn't prepared. After another ohko fight, I've won. He says that I should not embarass myself in front of arceus like a true dick he is.a

He is lvl 100. And since the hack rom creator is a retarded guy, arceus learns perish song, a move that kills him. So it is another azelf explosion situation but not as bad, however it was harder to catch as I tried for 20 minutes he always killed himself, so I ended up using the master ball.

I go back to rowan and he tells me: good job, now go meet professor oak and follow cynthia to this place on an island. If you go to professor oak, you will find shaymin and I caught it quite essily.

In this place that is almost like the Silver Mountain in Johto. Cynthia tells me about the legendary trainer Diamond that won the league last year and after that he vanished, people believe that he left for johto but she thinks she is still there. She tells me to look for him and to come back to try the elite 4 again since they are training and have new teams (even more bullshit I suppose.

There I found the male protagonist a la red in GSC. Except for one problem: the male protagonist is working as assistant for Rowan and he is always in front of his lab. He has participation in the story and talks with us. They even state that he won the league last time. So I am not even sure if it is the same character (i named him Lucas) but they have the same appearance.

I save the game before the fight just to scout his team, and go into the fight: he had arceus, dialga and mesprit and other three that I dont know. My palkia KO three of these pokemons and we traded the rest until it was my abomasnow as hm slave and empoleon, mu starter. I surf his ass and win.

The credits roll and I appear as the league winner again even when It was a sol battle. He vanishes from the point without saying anything just like Red.

And that is it. I won't try the E4 again since it is all bullshit and fuck the battle frontier (I fought against the 5 of them to get some tms and they used legendaries and so on)

This hack is weird. I loved all the story additions like paul being added from the anime, the new story bits and so on, the league with the anime characters was nice.

But everything related to gamplay was fucking awful. There is no grinding in the game because you can buy rare candies for 1 coin, you can heal anywhere, you can access move tutors, pc, move deleters from anywhere and so on. But the battles are devoid of fought: get speedy and powerful pokemon and you are alright. I always thought empoleon was amazing in normal platinum but here he was ass. Always being killed by electric or fire blasts and being outspeed by anyone else. The pokémon that I liked the most was the staraptor, my speedy bird and gardevoir who could be the only one in my team that could learn fire/electric/grass moves since most of the normal team couldn't use the tms I had. Metagross was really good too. Initially I used a rampardos but since he fell off hard. He had great attack but all his good attack moves were special attack tms and his speed and defense were shit.


There is a good game here, a better Platinum, but all the gameplay decisions are so fucking cancer that it made me rage like no other hackrom ever did.

And since I reread the platinum story... Man it is kinda ass isn't it? Which is funny, since the pokemon special manga, the DPPt is my favorite arc and is full of soul.
