All you have to do is look at the users in this very thread who largely agree about Dexit and are still buying the fucking merchandise.
Most users in this thread don't strike me as awfully professional fans. Casuals, maybe, I believe I said something to that effect before. Either way, my point stands, you're not a serious fan of the franchise if you still support the games post-Dexit. It shows that your priorities don't lie with the strong suits on the franchise and instead lie with the casual side of the fandom, ie a Fifa player that will buy the next product no matter what, the target audience Gamefreak depends on. At some point, you have to have a little self-respect and not buy a product that simply shows you no respect, but I guess that's too much to ask from some people.
I don't know why you put such a focus on "the fucking merchandise". Who gives a shit if someone buys a Pikachu plushie, as long as you don't buy the games that support this practice it doesn't matter. You can still enjoy the world of Pokemon all you want without supporting poorly made shitty titles that cut corners and then sell them back for DLC, that's another reason why nobody should be buying those games btw
Your intentional pedantry towards this definition in an effort to disqualify my claim is noted. You’re wrong, however, in that a fan needs none of these things: he simply needs to be willing to buy the games. Additionally, your attempt to give me homework for a subject that people would have obfuscated six years ago out of embarrassment is equally disingenuous.
So you have no receipts and are full of shit, then. Why should I be listening to you, again?
Under-18s, not just kids, make up a fifth of total Switch owners. This means every single one of them, 30 million, would need to own a copy to prove you right, but it’s probably closer to the 6-10 million mark. The rest are grown-ass adults, almost entirely consisting of people who had prior experience with Pokémon they enjoyed, making them fans. With how vocal the Dexit issue was, there are zero doubts that most of these people shared in the criticism before quietly caving. This shit may work over on Reddit but here I can just call you a nigger and be fine with it.
You do realize that Pokemon is more popular with adults these days than kids, right? Unless we're talking about Japan, little Billy is more likely to play Subway Surfers or Fortnite instead of Pokemon, unless it's Pokemon Go on his phone. When you account for every soyboy and casual gamer who owns a Switch, chances are that they own the game simply because it is one of the "premier" titles on the console, no matter how stupid that sounds. Same reason why you likely owned Halo of some kind if you bought an Xbox, might as well since it is an exclusive. Also, Showdown exists so if you just want to go for competitive, there is zero reason to own the games. Moreover, more often than not zoomies just play ROMs of older games on their phones, namely the GBA or Gameboy titles. Unless they already own a Switch, there is zero reason to seek out these games as there is no incentive to buy an entire console for them.
Kids and Normies are Pokemon’s actual target audience, you fucktard.
Correct, but this doesn't make them "fans". They are the "intended audience", fan is someone who played the games within the franchise for years, got invested into it, participated in the community, maybe made content based off the franchise. Some nobody who only buys the game to catch Pikachu and forgets about it after 2 hours isn't a "fan' and that's what most of the people you are referring to are. I know most people in this thread are raging casuals, at least when it comes to the games, so not like I would imagine this distinction means anything to you, but believe me there is one.
Also, you got it wrong again: People I am arguing with are usually retarded, which means trying to convince them of anything is a waste of time. Luckily, simply correcting them is no sweat off my back.
