Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

There is only two glitch Pokemon that I know of in Gen 2, it's a generic ----- and an Egg, neither is supposed to be found normally in the game without some very obscure exploits or glitches. If you cloned them, that might be the problem, you got bad clones.
Wouldn't you know they were bad as soon as you saw them, though? I was able to trade without problems.

I should go back to do my all-shint G2 run... I have a setup to run arbitrary code execution to turn any pokemon shiny, and combine that with cloning to get every starter = shiny starters!

It took a 3rd game to patch this out, and it was the one where you can't evolve your pikachu.
Missigno. was harder to obtain in non-english versions of the game, Specifically because no pokemon appears in that cinnabar island patch of water, even in the japanese versions, and trying to spawn the ID-000 Missigno. (the classic ⅃ shaped one) via ditto glitch, will cause the game to crash and the save to be deleted, similar thing would happen if you walked too far when exploring a glitch city.
You can still get other glitched pokemons and missingno. variants like the fossils and ghost, but it makes the trick more dangerous to execute blindly as a lot of pokemon corresponds to ID 000 missigno.

Also I absolutely adore the jank of gen 1 games, it makes each game far more replayable than most modern games as every buy and glitch adds to replayability, its like one of those sequence breaks in oblivion/skyrim that you can execute by paralyzing yourself or some shit, and it turns a broken mechanic into a fun feature.
If you hate missingno., you should kill yourself.

Pokemon typing in the card game as always been a mess.
Its even truer when they introduced fairy type into the mix and then removed it. Shit gets even funnier when you look at poison types.

Gen 1 is held together by thumb tacks and duct tape, but that's basically synonymous with Gen 1. If you played the first generation and never did any glitches yourself, you didn't really play the game.

Game Freak being a bunch of fags and not letting my glitch Mew from Yellow on the Virtual Console be transferred to my S/M cartridge pissed me off though.

Edit to not doublepost:

They had no problem with my box of shiny, cloned Mewtwos lol

I figure they don't actually check for Mewtwo because you can actually catch it in the games. According to Bulbapedia, if the OT and Trainer ID isn't a specific one, Pokémon Bank doesn't let you transfer the Mew. I figure that's because Mew was event-only in Gen 1.

Hypothetical:
Mr. John Gamefreak himself comes up to you during development of Legends: ZA and needs your input.
He tells you that the game can either 1.) have competently-modeled architecture and terrain that makes it look like an actual place, but the framerate is going to chug at times, or 2.) it can run smoothly on every platform, even down to the Switch Lite, but the world is going to look like a flat, empty Garry's Mod map.

Which direction would you tell them to go in?
I'd tell them to break the map down into multiple pieces and load them one at a time rather than trying to force an open world city environment on the Switch. You get better performance, more detail, and a larger overall map. The story of the game has them opening wild zones for the pokemon so why not use the sections present in the original XY games and use that as a way chunk the map into more manageable pieces.
The BotW open world feel that was only possible because the map was optimized to hell and back and is a natural environment with details only loaded in when they're right in front you, and even then if you used the glider it would stop and load chunks of the map before letting the glider move again. The forests in the distance in BotW for example were just posterboarded pngs with alphamaps, each tree was 2 tris.

ZA Legends design choices limited the map size, the model quality, and NPC count. If you know you're not the great coders use techniques to disguise that shit, there's plenty of great games that are put together with tape and spaghetti but no one cares because the product you got didn't show that, GF chasing trends and putting the gameplay second over poorly presented spectacle is getting them more and more pretty well deserved hate. Why not stick to what they've done well in the past with games like HGSS and B2W2 with carefully crafted bottle worlds filled with the cute monsters that are the selling point.

Because zelda breath of the wild sold well and nintendo games must now be like breath of the wild and have an open world.
Even without looking at that, pokemon in general often felt antiquated when compared to stuff released the same time, so even back then it could have been less the formula's probelm and more its execution.

This is something I was worried about before the game even released. Kalos has a lot of memorable locations besides Lumiose City, so it already was starting off poorly compared to Arceus by not having the same amount of environmental variety.

I will say, that the city does get more filled out as the story goes. It's still all very same-y, but it's better. And while I wish we had ride pokemon, I have a feeling it interfered with the live battle system. Arceus was very picky about what you could and couldn't do on a ride pokemon, and sending out your own pokemon was something you couldn't do.

it's also...strange seeing references to Prof Laventon in ZA? like he's the only pokemon char that's definitively dead. The other chars in Arceus either have descendants, or they're mysteriously alive, but Laventon's not.

like wtf why do I miss the funny beanie professor

That's good, at least. According to the leaks we're going to Galar in the next Legends game and it seems more open world, so a smaller scope isn't the worst thing in the world for a single game.

One of the classes in Scarlet and Violet shows a picture of Laventon.

Something really funny just happened to me in Legends AZ. I was in the battle zone and me and my opponent both sent out Pupitar. Both Pupitars used Earthquake on each other at the same time and knocked each other out, they were both at full health.
I had a cool moment, where i used quick attack, and at the same time my opponent used double team. My pokemon just went through the middle of the double team animation, missing entirely.

Make Mewtwo dark blue and his eyes glowing with colored flames, surround him with a blinding envelope of what looks like plasma, and he makes a pretty good Protoss Archon...

⚛️

(Protoss Archons have these things orbiting them like electrons in a Bohr Model of an atom.)

Ladies and gentlemen, I regret to inform you that WolfeyVGC, AKA Wolfe "Mr. Competitive Pokemon" Glicke, has come out as The Raped in a new 30 minute video.

In theme with Twitchcons sexual assaults. WolfeyVCG (currently one of if not the best VCG players in the world) is effectively considering retirement after multiple incidents of people groping him.
Aw son of a bitch you sniped me while I was uploading the archive.

To summarize:
  • Wolfe Glick / WolfeyVGC, the most well known world champion competitive Pokemon player (and probably competitive Pokemon player in general) turned content creator, is announcing that he does not intend to attend future in-person tournaments for at least the next four months due to, among other reasons, fans groping him while posing for pictures (3:30) and tagging Wolfe on twitter with thirst comments about what sex acts they'd like to do with him (19:30).
  • This is very notable as the Pokemon World Championship is an in-person event and Wolfe makes a large edited video telling the story of his experience at this tournament each year.
  • Wolfe is getting off of social media, and instead will be hiring a manager to run his accounts so he doesn't have to interact with horny internet freaks.
  • Wolfe will continue to make non-tournament Pokemon content (e.g. "What is the best X type Pokemon?") and presumably online tournament content in the future even if he never attends an in-person tournament again.
All joking aside, this seems like a very solid response on his end. Here's hoping his changes make for a grope-free career.
