I guarantee you that statement of there being over a 1,000 mons is false once you discount megas and gigantomax, they're trying to stretch out reaching that number legitimately as long as they can.

They outright said in interviews that the 1000 mark was hit because of the alternate forms and such. It's not really false when they tell you that.

There are two leakers, one has the game itself and the other came into contact with an official artbook. The game leaker is based and regularly posts new Pokemon lines he finds whenever he reaches some kind of checkpoint, probably just when he clears a gym or two and gets to a new area. The artbook leaker is responsible for most of the current gigantomax forms leaking, but hes a retard and intentionally fucked up some of the photos because hes a Indonesian sperg who thought GameFreak was gonna assassinate him. I don't believe the game leaker is or ever was a nintendo employee, from his loose grasp on English and grammar, he is likely living in a third world country like the Indonesian and just had some game place around him break street-date.

Anyways, I'm gonna head off to bed. If some brave kiwi can monitor /vp/ while I sleep and post the updates here, that'd be swell.

I'm pretty sure it looks like that because that stunfisk is based on a beartrap. Stunfisk was already based on a trap of some sort (can't be bothered to look it up) and so they decided to make the Galarian varient have it's design be based on a different type of trap.
