Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

They also hate that gen v is the current popular generation in the fandom so they bash it and try to tear the games down to prop up thier favorites. I mean gen V fans aren’t innocent either with thier past in pushing back against the “genwunners” but the 6-8 fans are even more annoying.
Afaik Gen 5 had always been the most hated on, due to Gamefreak being so liberal with the changes they made in the game. Similar to the outcry for national dex, when Black and White released lots of people were pissed because until post game you had no access to older Pokémon (Because of how upset people were at the time, Gamefreak put in a lot of older Pokémon from the start in Black and White 2). Only recently have people understood that "hey, this game might actually be good" but at this point the initial reaction is all that matters to TPC which is why I believe they and Gamefreak just said "fuck it" with trying to be innovative and now we're stuck with the same old since Generation 6.
Personally I believe that Gen 5 is probably objectively the best Pokémon gen, even if it's not my favourite. It's mostly lacking in the QOL that later gens have, otherwise it holds up pretty well.

It's something I've said before, but the initial backlash with gen V was the single biggest mistake the fanbase has ever done. It's because of their actions at that moment in time that the series is forever doomed to be stuck in a perpetual Kanto circlejerk with 50 Charizard forms.

What is with gen 6-8 fans who act like an oppressed minority for liking the games? I notice such a victim complex from them.
the 3d gen super fans are sorta like NU-trek fans, they are defending shit out of familiarity and not really considering how the game as a whole comes together. Not to say everything needs to be perfect but with gens 1-5 everything felt like it came together for a cohesive point. Gen 6 tried this with the whole "beauty and war" thing but it felt under-cooked. and ever since X and Y game freak has had problems making a satisfying game imo.
It's just defending a property out of nostalgia and fear that it might "go away if it gets attacked too much". In other words people have a series sunken cost train of thought.
That or they directly profit off of the series shitting out entries constantly but that's poketubers so what can you expect?

I think that the previous games had a point to their stories and they felt satisfying to go through, especially when you figure out the next trigger after wandering around aimlessly for hours.
Gen 6 stopped you in your tracks at every point and the story doesn't make sense overall and I just can't bring myself to care about it. Gen 7 could have been good if they cut out Hau (he's adorable but useless to the story, essentially) and trim the fat to make a decent game.

Gen 6 was such a waste of a region that had a lot of cool shit you could do with it. from stuff like the french revolution to stuff like the french new wave they could of done alot more with kalos for inspiration and it feels like they just pumped and dumped it to move onto Gen 3 remakes and alola.
Like they tried with the pokemon war stuff but as I said earlier, undercooked.

Gen 7 is the first time I have ever seen decompressed story telling outside of comics and god was every stop with Hau saying useless shit a mistake. Like I don't have a problem with long plots but a lot of SuMo's dialog just made the game feel long and meandering.

Gen 6 is also a waste in the fact that there was no definitive/sequel/alternate retelling version. IIRC, Gen 7 was released because an anniversary was coming up, and then poor Gen 6 is irrelevant, save for Lysandre showing up in Rainbow Rocket.

I've never seen a more cucked line of games than X and Y. Where's muh AZ's Floette?

Less stellar Pokémon games aside, let's discuss a decent one.

With Grand Master Rank achieved, I completed the milestone board and can finally put the kibosh on this great game. And at least my playtime shows that I didn't "no life" the game. Such a moment would come when one decides to amass a living dex, including the available shiny pokemon. But I'd just recommend that folks just stop after they beat Wish Cave and Purity Forest.

With a spinoff game like this, I can't wait for New Pokémon Snap!

Is this a bad thing?
Sort of. It might encourage Game Freak to make more games similar to the quality of Sword and Shield. Although, other factors played into that game being one of the more weaker entries such as it starting off as yet another 3ds game before it was hastily brought over to the Switch.

I stopped after doing the achievements (grand master rank being the exception) but it was nice to finally play a Pokemon game with effort.

Even then the game dev philosophy from people like Masuda and Ohmori will prevent it from surpassing Gens 3-5. Gotta get those mobile and kanto audiences.

Huh, this is kinda weird. With this new recruitment system I had expected PSMD to just give you one of each pokemon with the option to evolve them later, but apparently they sometimes give you two copies of the same mon along with their earlier evolutions. So now I have two venusaurs who just joined as venusaurs, one bulbasaur, and presumably an ivysaur on the way after I unlock its mission. I mean I know that with the old recruitment systems you could just grab 3 of the same mon anyway if you want, but since it's based on missions here and not defeating them from random dungeon encounters I hadn't expected them to just throw dupes at you.

What's the best one to start with in the Mystery Dungeon set ?

While I've only play Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Darkness myself, people usually say Explorers of Sky is the best game in the series, but if you want the largest amount of available Pokemon there is Super Mystery Dungeon(All Gen I-VI Pokemon except Volcanion plus all Mega Evolutions/Primals).

Personally, I think you could also start from the beginning(sort of) by playing the recent Switch remake of Red/Blue rescue team, just to have a starting point of sorts. While the original had all Gen I-III Pokemon, the remake also added all of the Pre-evolutions/evolutions of those Pokemon introduced in Gen IV, Sylveon, and Riolu/Lucario, and uses the same Mega Evolution/Primal mechanics as Super Mystery Dungeon.

Source on this, on one hand I wouldn't be surprised but if anything it just seems like Gen 8 had some good ol' bethesda style feature creep that caused it to end up so meh

It came from the discussion that happened a while ago:
Problem with this theory is Sword and Shield is based on Let's Go engine so...... they already imported the models from the 3DS to Let's Go. Also the 3DS models are also used on all the mobiles games, this one doesn't make a lot of sense. I find it really hard to believe that something as simple as a broken importer. The entire region looks completely unfinished and I can't believe the entire staff was held up by a problem like this as often things are put together in tandem (story, areas, postgame, etc.) I would say something obviously did happen developing this game though, it's more likely looking at it that it was originally designed for the 3DS then ported into the Let's Go engine creating this Frankenstein's monster of a game. We also can't forget that the leadership as far as Pokemon goes is really out of touch with what people want for years.

The more you look at this situation the more it devolves into a Mobius Strip of fuckery. But I'll try to break it down.

It could possibly be a combination of the two. Everything started on the 3DS as they had no faith for the Switch (which, after the Wii U I can't exactly blame them), but then they got word that there would be no more dedicated handhelds after the 3DS so they had an "Oh shit!" moment and hastily threw everything into an HD realm last minute, which is just asking for something to go wrong for a company that hasn't touched that kind of tech up until now. As for LG, the coding for all mons are in it, but not the actual models themselves, so there was still porting to do.

However that brings into question why not all the Kanto mons made it (less than half actually) if they were all ready to go due to LG. It could be they didn't want to be accused of favoritism but then there's still all the Kanto whoring anyway so, who knows.

The other other potential factor is that, after it became clear the full dex wasn't going to happen for whatever reason, TPC got the idea to use popular mons as extra "incentive" for people to use the Home service, which would explain the random Kanto cuts and why so many generally popular mons were snapped period, because then that would get more people to pay up for Home instead of if only the Lumineons and Wormadams of the world were cut.

Yet this also flies in the face of the broken porter theory because that makes it sound like the cuts were planned all along, whereas the porter break implies they effectively played it by ear all the way. And there's always the outcome where for the next game they pull their own "Everyone is here!" to try and get back in the fanbase's good graces, and that in itself has questions as to if that was the plan all along and they just didn't think repeatedly saying "Dexit is forever now" would have repercussions (which is doubtful considering how they've been hiding away ever since the leaks happened) or as a response to the current backlash.

It's like, even attempting to wrap one's head around this clusterfuck gives you an instant headache. I know I got one just typing this mess out.

EDIT: I just came across this. Oh boy.

Gen V is actually considered overrated by the fandom now for some reason. Gen V fans are no worse than any other fans but for some reason 6-8 fans seethe hard at any positive mention of the game.

Also the ass hurt generated over the amount of “Gen V music hits differently” videos on Youtube is fun. It’s no worse than the Hoenn trumpets.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully get into that once I finish Xenoblade 3d.

At first gen 5 was hated and now it's overrated.
