Poland cannot into space -- but I wish they could! That's how cool they are.

In all seriousness I have debated moving to Poland many times, but some of my interests aren't really possible to engage there, I can't stand EU laws and regulations, but goddamn it I love the culture there even though everyone in Poland thinks the country is shit and has an EXTREMELY rosy view of the West.

I was just looking into Polish citizenship by birthright, I've got two great-grandparents from there who had documentation, but they left the country before independence so it's not a sure thing.

Honestly, when all the shit starts to go down, I'll meet you at the White enclave in Poland. They're looking like our only hope at this point.

It's a great country but still kind of poor. You'll live like a king on the American dollar, just don't tell them everything is cheap there because it's not, not if you get paid in zlotys. I will say the culture there is vastly superior to America's. If shit hits the fan I'll show you some neat places in the country.

Also, if you go you'll realize null was 100% right in his cheese/bread/meat thread. That thread tickled me because I've had the -exact- same discussion with Europeans and Americans alike, I never see eye to eye on anything null posts but that thread was based as hell.

I had lots of polish friends and aquaintances over the years and get along good with them, even if a lot of them tend to be psychos. German-polish girls are incredibly nice and hot, too. I also appreciate their food, nothing better than eating a big plate of home made Bigos on a cold winter day, it's a staple when visiting the Christmas markets around here. Hard workers, too. Honestly my favourite immigrants here in Germany.

Edit:
Shit, almost forgot the most important polish invention, a childhood friend had one and it had like a million NES games in-built:

I wanted to see if anyone else would bring up bigos, and you sir are a man of taste. Bigos are excellent, but also good for winter and Christmas time especially is barszcz wigilijny.
I used to practically live at a polish friend's house when i was in highschool and his mother made bigos almost daily in the winter months every year, i never forgot the taste.

There ain't much more than one might want in life than to crack open a cheap beer and go for a walk in a gloomy, barely-lit park, knees-deep in mud and risking frostbite when whipping your dick out for a piss during a winter night in here. I've had a big distaste for my homeland during an era in my life, I've luckily managed to grow out of it and each week is me noticing more good things about the country nowadays. Shit, even though we are becoming more and more progressive in terms of politics, it's still going way better than for any other Central/god forbid Western European nation and even the progressive women in here are great (it might sound like I'm jerking it to my own country a bit too much, but trust me, you aren't getting anything better than Polish women - maybe some Asians, but you have to stick up with gargantuan cultural differences if you want to fuck a rice-eater).

Some fun facts that I came up with, just to shill for Poland a bit more - might get you interested.
  • Our geography is quite varied; there's something for everyone here, from a relatively long coastline in the north, to mountains (anywhere from 500-ish metres up to 2500 metres above sea level) providing you with options for short hikes and all-out mountaineering expeditions. Hell, we even have a desert (Pustynia Błędowska)! It's small, with its total area being around 33sqkm, but still - it's a desert in Central Europe.
  • We still have quite a lot of historical shit left over, for example the Malbork castle, built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights. Hell, we have 17 UNESCO sites in Poland - Salt mines, the Germans' second best invention after Volkswagen AG - Auschwitz, the Churches of Peace in Jawor and Świdnica, wooden tserkvas built by the Orthodox people and some others.
  • 1/3rd of our country was built by Germans, meaning it actually makes sense from an urban designer's perspective (or at least makes SOME sense, we managed to fuck it up massively...). Go to Wrocław, for example, and in certain areas you could probably confuse it with Berlin.
  • One of the safest countries in Europe. Based on what the people are saying, good luck finding any unbiased sources on that. If you aren't obnoxious with your affiliations (political, sexual, football clubs etc.) nobody will mind you being there. Also if you're Black, American, retarded or something else, even if you get weird looks as long as you learn some Polish cursewords and insults (and bring them up in the right context, might not be the brightest idea to use them if you are actually being attacked for some reason) the people will love you immediately.
Polish media (mostly mass media goyslop, but oh well):
  • Chłopaki nie płaczą - a cult comedy from the year 2000, an absolutely ridiculous film with absolutely great jokes (that doesn't fail to target everybody, from gays, to black people, to whites); its politically-incorrect (by current standards) humour is like fine wine. English subtitles available. Best quality version you'll find online is a TV-rip (1080p-ish), it seems like they never re-released it for any actually decent home media formats.
  • Vinci - 2004 comedy heist film, where the plot revolves around the main characters stealing a Da Vinci painting from a museum set in Kraków. Same with the one above, english subtitles are available, best available copy is a TV-rip.
  • Lady Pank - Lady Pank (1983) - debut studio album by a Polish pop rock band. Widely considered to be one of the most important Polish rock albums. Suffers from the good old problem of being recorded on two tin cans and three cabbages, but the music still stands its own ground. Widely available on streaming sites.
  • Czesław Niemen - Dziwny jest ten świat (1967) - God only knows what genre this is, probably something between soul, rock and blues. Just listen, you'll probably like it if you're into these genres. Also widely available online.
Not mentioning obvious ones like Cyberpunk, The Witcher, Dying Light etc., everybody's had some contact with these at some point.

If you want to know anything else about the country, just let me know - glad to answer any questions.

Did not expect I'd be spending an hour of my evening writing up a post for the Farms about Poland, but oh well. God works in mysterious ways.

A Slav is a Slav is a Slav. I dislike them all, but I appreciate the Polish and the rest of them for adding to the bitch boy slap fight that is Eastern Europe.

You're right, yet another absolute gem. I was tired as balls while finishing that post up and forgot to check whetber or not I omitted something.Fuck it, just watch Machulskis entire filmography while at it.
That film has become so hilariously prophetic, right down to the ending, in very unintended (?) ways
