Eh, I remember the old internet where there was none of this social media shit embedded in forums. They still functioned completely fine.
The problem is that the old system was working just fine and was actually used by plenty of users. Removing it out of spite is the same level of retarded as YouTube removing the dislike button or twitch changing emotes to be more politically correct. Useless changes

Null should've just made it disabled by default rather than enabled by default if he wanted people to use it less, but BTFOing a feature of the site that people like just to move it behind a couple extra clicks is bad UI/UX

To me, he actually didn't remove anything. You can still see who rated you what and that is all that matters far more than reaction score to many users.

Just throwing my 2 cents in for why I like the sticker alerts. Whenever your posts get engagement, the alert widget provides a link back to the exact post. If you are getting alerts it means users are reading and there has likely been more posts and content put into that thread. The alert message with the link allows me to easily get back into that thread where I left off. I know technically you can just go and check your reactions received section, but the alert allows me to know the engagement has happened from any page, which is convenient.

I don't have any qualms with the removal of the reaction score.

One of the first forums I signed up to back in like the 90's had a star and flag system for posts and threads.
I think until social media, I was never on a forum that had ratings like Facebook, so TIL.

Don't fucking lie to people you fucking cunt.

In all seriousness, this. This is exactly how I felt about this from the beginning.

:feels: take this heart from me to you

See my edit. Why remove sticker notifs if theres still a way to see them? Making more clicks needed to check them (and its even worse on mobile) is, as we have all been saying, a worse user experience. There was 0 reason to change it

People used to sperg out about that system too even though there was no way to be downvoted.
There is no solution to human behavior. It is like here don't powerlevel, but sometimes how are you going to have real discussion or talk to other users without it in some cases? Just is what it is. That's why I don't care about Stickergate or whatever. I've said my thoughts on it, you all decide, lol.

That's the core problem. He didn't replace features or derived functionality with better features. He told users there are buttons that take more clicks, more navigation, and more time parsing what you see, to replace a 1-click feature. For some of that functionality, it's just gone because lol mad. This is objectively worse UX.

If the sticker autists are flooding reports or whatever, hide those individual users notifications. You don't ban an entire board because two retards are having a slapfight in a thread, why are you killing multiple ways of interacting with the site just because a couple of retards need to lurk more?

(Hiding reaction score is fine, that's just 1 metric; or that could also be user-level to troll specific spazzes.)

I'm honestly not sure if Null is genuinely not understanding this point, or is too angry to bother giving a shit.

Powerleveling seems to be one of those things that there's sort of a fine line. As long as you're not too specific or revealing embarrassing things it seems to be mostly ok.
