In a way I think this could be a very good thing. We're seeing the pendulum move back more to common sense in the mainstream as more and more people realize that journos are full of shit. If we start having people openly going "Yeah, I'm a kiwifarms user, so what?" and people support that person, we might start seeing some real movements.

Remember though, this is stuff that takes time. It won't be an immediate shift.

As long as it doesn't degenerate into spam, advertising your shit here is kinda based, considering the sites reputation.

Might need its own dedicated section, just keep them from shitting up unrelated areas of the site, but barring actual scams it'd probably be fine.

I definitely lean towards yes, as long as they aren't spamming or coming in to completely unrelated threads to shill (which others have already stated).

There's really two possibilities: they make a cool thing, and people here get directed towards it and maybe decide they want to buy it or support it, because it's cool and they like it. That's just a win-win.

The other possibility is they make something shit, and then we all get to make fun of them, and call them gay and retarded and a nigger. That's just free content right there, and that's even better.

It sounds like a good idea to me. My worry is that somebody who actually has talent advertises a good project, and it gets taken down from its fundraising host because "KF racist bad," but I guess that's the risk on the creator's end.

No. The farms should remain ideologically pure. Observe and document.
That's fun to say and all, that is until you remember there are commentary youtubers like Turkey Tom making 5 figures a month off videos that are basically shitty censored versions of threads, or podcasts like Kiwitapes & Smokeys who consistently have 3k+ live viewers also making 5 figures a month off memberships alone. I think it can be kinda cringe to suck off Null, but the man runs a website that has spawned multiple 6 figure careers and whether good or bad, with the notoriety the site has, most people in a position like his would be getting fat stacks. I just think it's fucked that he doesn't get to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

I'd be concerned with people making burner accounts to advertise, so maybe limit it to its own section with a minimum account age and post count.

I voted yes, with a stipulation. Advertisements should be kept relevant to the thread its being posted in, and or crossposted onto a advertisement board to keep all ads in 1 place and making it so you don't have to dig through a thread or its highlights. Just keep shilling relevant to where its posted if not in a general advertisement board.

Something Awful had a lot of people pitching projects at its peak.
I am in favor of self-promotion because of the possibility it might generate something as funny as the Zybourne Clock

I think it should be based on the age of the account, or post history. If they are just joining the farms to milk the users for engagement or datasets for ML, fuck em. If the guy posts regularly in the programming thread, posting a relevant project they need contributors to is fine.

The farms is a website with thousands of concurrent users. A creator should only be allowed to request people's time or engagement if they've given some of their own.

CrunkLord is an active user and Terry is a major part of forum culture. His posts about the TempleOS game engine should be allowed to stay. A user made yesterday called KiwiDatingAppOfficial with 0 posts should not be allowed to promote a dating site they are developing even if posted in the incel or Man Hate Threads where it might be relevant.
Almost forgot. Any promotion must describe what it is being promoted and its value proposition at the time of posting.

Bad: "Check out my dating site at kiwidate.social"

Good:"Hinge and Tinder suck dick because of left/right swiping and all of the (woman) on them. I'm working on a site called kiwidate.social. Where trannies are not allowed, and the algo is better. Maybe give it a shot."

This is something that needs to be addressed on a per-basis, but I think it's acceptable if relevant to the forum or discussions at hand. Any schmuck coming here advertising whatever the fuck Kickstarter they have is retarded, but previous musings have already led to successful projects, such as GenoSamuel's Chris Chan documentary.

In a way, you will get more honest criticism here than anywhere else on the internet. Depending on the context, it might be worth it to let them speak.
On the other hand, if they're faggots they will just get bullied and probably run off and/or doxed anyways. They know what they're in for when they sign on.

I don’t know because associating your irl life with KF is a spell for destruction, but if they still separate the two and contribute positively towards the site then i dont see why not
Joining just to shill should be banned but active users sharing what they do (which sort of happens anyways) is fine ig

You could make a special subforum for it and maybe if there's enough intrest it can be moved to the relevant subforum. So like the comic starts off in self promo and if enough people care it can be moved to comics general.

I'll start the wiki! I was so fortunate to see that unravel in real time.

I like the idea but for now my opinion is "no". Let's let things settle a bit with everything going on and then reevaluate. Maybe allow it on a limited basis and if it seems like something that's a good idea after that go for it more broadly.

Sure, as long as it's on topic and you are not a spastic retard about it. I had the thought of promoting my video editing skills or art over here, other than for making high effort shitposts over on the Balldo thread. But ultimately decided against it because the site gets a bad rep around certian circles. Mind you, if anyone goes through with it, I would advice you get a crypto wallet or another secure form of payment that can be safely tied to your sneeding account without your personal information.

I would also like to point out what happened to JustAWorm when he tied his art to kis KF account. It's a pity what happened with him, his art was great.

Edit: I would advice reading the OPSEC thread or other materials. You absolutely should be 100% sure that nothing is tied to possibly identifiable information on this site.
