I would rather snort a 50/50 mix of fiberglass and anthrax than discuss my professional life here in any way.

There's also nothing I love more than when people freely give information about their identity...

\_O_/ I'd say let em in.

Only downside I see is a potential increase in spam. If problematic, easy fix is a sub-mod staff role for veterans in good standing to scrub spam and free-up mods and senior staff to deal with Ooperations.

First off... Fuck advertising! I guess this sort of thing, in a non spam way, is on the less sucky end of the scales but still....

Other than that, I don't have a strong opinion one way or another and can see pros and cons with both.. But there is one thing that i think is important if we go ahead with this.. Making sure things clearly and explicitly remain separated. Making it clear that allowing someone to do so is not an endorsement. Even if it something a lot of the community likes etc. Allowing that kind of shit, even just semi-implicitly, is a road to bullshit and headaches.

Plus i can't imagine the type of person or situation that would lead to wanting to openly do so at a place like this.... well actually i can.. which is why i feel so uneasy.

I think this is fine but as stated: only in relevant threads.

If someone opens a Patrick Tomlinson themed restaurant for example, then yes I want to know about it because I'd want to eat there, child.
Or maybe just make a single thread as containment. That way we don’t get spammed by Zweihander pitches.

I vote YES if the site gets money for it. Maybe some Web 1.0 banner ad at the top of different boards people can buy for anything (SFW) from promo'ing their project or even shit posting to other members. If Kenofag wants to shill his twitter let him pay null for it.
A single KF hosted banner that users could easily block if they want to I don't see being a big deal. Basically what 4chan does but with out the annoying animation and NSFW shit.

I don't mind that much otherwise, but it feels like a bad idea because you're basically powerleveling.

I voted no because people always push boundaries with stuff like this. I do think yes as long as it’s moderated when it gets obnoxious (and I trust it would be) but as a hypothetical I had to say no until I see how it’s implemented in reality.

I'd say yes, but only if it's strictly on topic.

In the case of Kickstarter/GoFundMes, the users of this site are going to grill the shill hard, and I mean much harder than the general public would. This can only be a good thing, given the amount of utter horseshit on those sites.

It goes without saying that if the spruiker starts repeatedly posting the same promotional material if met with disinterest it should be considered spam.

I'd also have a higher tolerance for this sort of thing from established members than people who sign up, post their stuff, and fuck off, never to be seen again.

PS: This sort of thing may well be good for new cow discovery too.

Try it. If it doesn't work out you can always reverse your decision.

I vote Yes on this one
Spamming and derailing threads is already against the rules so if the self promotion dose not break those rules I don't see why not, as for some one making a thread specifically to shill their crap that sound it needs some form of containment and possibly charging shekels for it

I don't understand how we can mock personal army requests but then vouch for advertisers. It's the same mindset. "Kiwifarms is on my team! I'm so hip and based!"

No way. Kiwifarms is a place where eccentric people and ridiculous events are pointed and laughed at. Self-shilling is just one of those things I would personally, quietly delete posts about, and if they don't get the hint they're quietly banned.

Ads are gay but if Null needs the comfort of compensation then this would be a good way to do it. Like random_text.txt, it would be a fun way to enhance our esprit de corps. It could also get people to collaborate and work together on things and promote deserving threads/ideas/whatever.

I think allowing ads could be much more work than it's worth - you'd have to police for the sale of illicit content and materials, if you don't already, and you'd have to make judgement calls on what should and should not be allowed. It would also facilitate much more contact between the denizens of the site, who will now be sharing shipping addresses, sending money, and possibly even meeting up to exchange goods. I don't want to see a story about a kiwi farms serial killer like we've seen with Craigslist, and I think it could lead to much more doxxing of users.

I have been wondering about this, off and on. I have an autism project for which I am NOT seeking any kind of funding or contribution, but it involves some complex technical stuff and I haven't really found any place on the internet that has the level of discussion I am looking for. (it is just for fun, I have no expectation of selling it or making any money from it.)

It's also supposed to be humorous in a way that I think maybe the people here, but few others, would find funny.

If I'm ever done with it or have it in a showeable state, I would like to present it to you guys. I do not have any problem with associating it with the kiwi farms (assuming it is ever complete enough to release) , It would also be cool to see if anyone here has worked on something similar and compare techniques.

I think it should be case by case.
on one hand if a guy makes total tranny death the ttrpg wouldn't Farmers want that?
on the other no one wants to help fund the generic adventures of captain potato salad and his lover mcfag the fag.

I say let the dude promote here. Anyone have any indo about the comic itself? I took a look through the thread but couldn't find info on it.
