There are a lot of things people become enraged about that are socially proscribed rather than biologically innate. I am not a proponent of poly- anything relationships but I don't think this is a solid argument against the whole "much social indoctrination" argument.

I feel like I've said this a hundred million times in this thread but apparently it still hasn't been said enough, basically the only two functional relationship systems in an organized society are either polygamy or monogamy. Almost no Westerners want to live in a society where a small number of powerful men hoard all the women as wives and concubines, but it's why any given person has way more female ancestors than male ancestors. It's true that some people don't do well with monogamy but that's not a good enough justification to go about changing all of society to fit their whims. And even if we tried to, it wouldn't work out well anyhow.

The modern relationship works when it's between the right people and for the right reasons. But it has to be built on trust. And you just can't trust Poly people.

Eventually, those kids go on to realize that all the time that Mom and dad are spending on these new relationships or with other adults that they're sleeping with is time that Mom and dad aren't spending with them. It's not possible to have a kid involved in a poly situation without that child being neglected in some capacity.
