It wasn't porn itself that was interesting to me, or the jealous fat woman looking at others' phones. The weird thing was what every coomer in the subreddit left unmentioned - the guy seems to look at porn every time her back is turned, every time she takes a shit or a shower, every time she blinks and even on ER trips. That was as funny as the sub's defensive reaction. They lead their lives as if it was porn and their one holy thing shall not be questioned.

What do poly couples do in the long term? Like a married couple + a 3rd wheel. Do they plan retirement all together? Discuss assets? Arrange the division of communal property if one decides to leave? Probably not, damn degenerates.

Poly is a joke of a relationship dynamic from what I have seen, and it pisses me off that many are sanctimonious that they think poly or ethical non-monogamy is better.

Most are naive young people who either have a rose colored picture of future (all big happy family) or don't think about it beyond the moment (we see when we get there). Either way it tends fall apart in spectacular fasion with drama and expense when things get rough.

Some otherhand are basically old school swinggers who have perfectly clear line between actual family and side pieces that are there for fun. Family is just the tradition one, even if they wax poetics to sleep around without guilt. Family goes first and gets assets in death and divorce but the other sex partners can be friends and helped out if we have extra.

Is that really a polyamorous relationship? I have always understood that it is very much a relationship just with multiple people. Contrast this to an open relationship where people fuck others and it is known regardless if it is on your own or together.

Maybe it is splitting hairs, but in the case of an actual relationship where there is a married couple, they cannot legally marry the third person. If everyone involved invests their time and money over the years, that third person gets screwed. Unless they actually discuss this shit, and I don't think they do. It is hard enough in monogamous relationships.

Overall I agree, poly is just "hur hur, it goes against the societal grain, look at me I am happier!"

This question made a horrible memory emerge from the depths of my soul. My first time encountering a poly married couple (a married couple who brought in another guy, they were all gay homos, and they were together for quite a few years.) I was fine with it because he mostly kept quiet about it for a long time. But the community we were in was an all ages group, and this absolute fucking third wheel faggot would not shut the fuck up about the sex toys the husbands were giving him after a while. And I mean in exacting grotesque detail, one example was this thing he kept calling a "ball stretcher" and he wore it, and would not stop telling us about it, telling us the details of how it felt, and how he couldn't wait to get more toys. I don't even know why he told any of us that, and a lot of the group was supporting him talking about it? I wasn't welcome anymore after I had enough and told him to stop being a literal fucking faggot in an all ages group, and asked him why he didn't just tell his husbands instead of us. I never got an answer either just a lot of anger.

To answer your question: They probably didn't last because he was such an obnoxious faggot that even his husbands were getting sick of him because he couldn't keep their life private. I doubt any of these fucks make it far enough to retirement, or even discuss assets. They're in the thrill of the moment, and they just don't think about the long term or even the commitments being made when you enter a relationship. It's just the sex and the cuddling and that's it to them.
 
Do any of the people who post in the r/polyamory section of Reddit make posts about fears of being prosecuted under Bigamy laws? Alot of states- especially those with a historic Mormon community, have extremely strict laws banning "Bigamy" and polygamy of any kind- mainly set up by the Federal Government as a means to persecute said Mormons back in the day. I think Polygamy carried a felony charge with a 30 year prison sentence in Utah- not too sure about other states.

Unless there's multiple actual marriages bigamy just doesn't apply. There's no law against fucking around and even cohabitating with multiple people, generally speaking.

Adultery historically used to be a very serious criminal offense in many places but not anymore, at least in Western countries.

Should a person HAVE to have that person around at all times and know their every movement every hour of everyday? No. Should they be able to assume their spouse will be able to pick them up after getting out of the hospital for appendicitis rather than said spouse fucking their side-piece? Fell down the foreskin restoration rabbit hole a few years back, and asked many men their thoughts on this. The consensus was that these people are insane. There was a dick-related documentary linked in another thread recently where the guy met with "Intactivists" who protest in white pants with a big red crotch stain painted on. Dunno if it's appropriate or not to circumcise, but it is painless and bloodless in the first world. These dudes wound up looking like Clockwork Orange meets Down Syndrome.

Elective circumcision of normal penises is almost exclusively an American thing and like every other peculiarly American social cause it's turned into some gay bullshit by people who want to feel like they're fighting the righteous fight. If they really wanted to save people's penises from mutilation they'd be fighting against am hole surgery or something.
