I mostly used them to reduce my urge to quote reply everything.

But, now I'm seeing notifications of others reacting to me.

Now I have zero urge to ever use the feature again.

I just negrated your post.

FAQ

What does this mean?
The amount of reactions (points) on your post and Kiwi Farms account has decreased by one.

Why did you do this?
There are several reasons I may deem a post to be unworthy of a positive reaction. These include, but are not limited to:
  • Rudeness towards other Kiwis,
  • Spreading incorrect information,
  • Sarcasm not correctly flagged with a /sneed.
  • Posts that don’t fit the thread

Am I banned from Kiwi Farms?
No - not yet. But you should refrain from making posts like this in the future. Otherwise I will be forced to issue an additional negrate, which may put your reaction score in jeopardy.

I don't believe my post deserved a negrate. Can you un-negrate it?
Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a negrate. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. I tend to respond to Kiwi Farms PMs within several minutes. Do note, however, that over 99.9% of negrate appeals are rejected, and yours is likely no exception.

How can I prevent this from happening in the future?
Accept the negrate and move on. But learn from this mistake: your behavior will not be tolerated on kiwifarms.st. I will continue to issue negrates until you improve your conduct. Remember: Kiwi Farms is privilege, not a right.

Generally the only useful thing about them, is that you can gauge how well people fit in.
Wrong. If someone writes a 5 paragraph length post and it has a bunch of trash can ratings I can simply skip over it. The rating system allows me to know if someone is retarded or not and if I should waste my time with their post. It is very useful.

i'm also confused at why humans, who are social animals, might enjoy knowing that what they say is enjoyed by others. and, by receiving feedback from users they respect, they can adjust their behavior and engage in a more pro-social and cohesive way in a community they want to engage in

i am further bewildered by the idea that someone might enjoy seeing a reaction to an old post in a thread, both for personal gratification and the notice that a thread they were interested enough to post in but not interested enough to watch might have some minor yet informative update

of course, i also happen to be an alien who has come here to observe your species' strange behavior from afar as a research. are you another one of us? don't lie. you'll know the special handshake if you are
hurr durr I don't know how to follow threads to see if they have updates

i like stickers.
i like rating posts based on what i think of it.
i like getting stickers for my posts.
i like it when faggots cry about reaction stickers.

stickers are love stickers are life.
Stickers also help find good posts. Well written or informative posts get winner or informative ratings and that draws people to them to read them. When I see a post that has 50 winner ratings it's most likely something funny or well written so I read it. It's a positive of ratings.

I cannot imagine wanting to keep reaction notifications. I turned that shit off day 1 and never looked back. People who want reaction notifications have brain damage. It's really not hard to remember what threads you posted in, if you care what people rate your posts in the first place, and just check up on them later.

I wonder what the overlap is of lepers who post exclusively in A&N and people who leave reaction notifications on. I bet it's high.
