Can we get an alternative to 'agree' called 'PRESS ONE'? I feel like a very obvious opportunity was lost here.

Getting posts rated as "dumb" consantly is going to get old after a while.
How is it an excuse? If someone's going to rate your post as dumb unanonymously, maybe it's time for some self-reflection. If it's the same person on all of your posts, though, that might be intentional and abusive.Honestly, I can just see this as an excuse for members to be mean to each other.
if it does get used this way constantly can always change it. i would like to know when people disagree with me on stuff, StallChaser's reply to my PDK analysis thread post was really good and i would like more people giving critical input even if it's just pressing a disagree or dumb button.Honestly, I can just see this as an excuse for members to be mean to each other.
I have a specific point to make about your post, so I am replying to it directly.Anonymous negative voting options is going to kill discourse. Instead of a conversation branching out from point/counterpoint, we now have kindergarten stickers to replace it. I have to say, I prefer the old system.
If I'm reading you right, you're saying the buttons will stop people from making well thought out posts (perhaps like this one). It won't.
...How would that happen? How would we get cliques from ratings? Obviously we're going to abuse it because we're all autistic as hell, but Facepunch has been using this exact system for years and none of that shit you mentioned ever happened.I hope this doesn't end up with people jerking each other off and/or shitting on each other for no apparent reason.
Of course, that seems a likely outcome. At least we'll get to see a fair deal of tribalism and cliquey nonsense.

On the contrary, I've noticed specific people griping about the system because their posts have been tagged as Dumb or A-Log. These are the exact kinds of people I'd want to see affected by such information. In only a few hours, the feedback specific people have gotten, people who are accepted and tolerated but often say things which are not well received, are realizing it. If this has any long-term impact has yet to be seen.Granted it could be used to clean up shitposts, but I highly doubt it will have much impact in that area.
I just don't see this happening. At all. Anywhere. People are still going on as they would, and third parties + lurkers are utilizing the system. People who might be inclined to say very little are instead showing support without posting.I'm saying conversations have a flow. I say something, you disagree and say why, and we both lay out our supporting evidence. If, instead, I say something and you press a button that puts a little icon that indicates you (but who knows who) disagree then there is no conversation. Instead of discourse, we're just ranting into the aether and passing out stickers.
Add .dark_postrating to your adblock. It will remove the bar.Full disclosure: I also think the icons looks gaudy and childish, but my primarily objection is the effect it's going to have on conversations.
It's not the end of the world people. Have fun with it. Also, who takes their comments about retards on the internet that seriously
