"Post your Art" Thread

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
I just noticed this was a thing so I feel obligated to post something even if it's a shitty WIP thingy.

I know, I'm the greatest artist of our generation. ;)

I've always had a degree of cross-dominance in my hands, but I recently found out that I'm fully ambidexterous, so I've been trying out drawing with both hands. These are some side-by-side sketches

Lucky you! I wish my left hand was that good.

I have been doing a value study of Lurtz and Saruman.

I have a pretty big thing for Uruk-Hai, so I guess it's not surprising I've been doing a lot of LOTR studies. I think it's making the peopel in my general vicinity a bit anxious tho.

I finished that value study. I want to do another one whyyyyy do Uruk Hai have to be so powerful and intimidating and generally fucking badass.

Please note for anyone doing their own value studies that my process in this particular image is considered very bad form as I worked from left to white on a white background filling in detail by detail. If you do your own it is best to start with a mid tone background and do a full sketch before blocking in the tones. I understand this changes for traditional art, so if anyone has any tips for traditional studies please let me know as I am godawful at them.

A preliminary animatic for the final animation project. There are things within this that I'll need to improve for the final animation, but then that is the case with any storyboarding. To get the general idea down is most important...Hopefully it's not too hard to understand :x

script idea:

The character "Sophie" on left enters a room with a statue holding a jewel which she takes. But as she holds the jewel she feels her body turn to stone rapidly, trapped by the jewel's magic powers. The statue behind her breaks free, showing that it was another person who was tricked by the jewel, and leaves "Sophie" to her fate.

the animatic:

So I'm moving away from my comfort zone and plunging into the art of making plushies. I'm hoping I can get decent enough to sell them but that's a ways out from here.
I wanted to go with something incredibly easy as I've never sewn a single thing in my life before so I made a slime from Minecraft. It's about one foot wide and one foot tall. Kinda squishy since I didn't want to over stuff him. I don't think it turned out too bad for my first time working a sewing machine. Made from fleece.
