Maybe, I haven't drawn one of those before, so I'll see what I could do personally and PM you privately if something comes up.
Oh thank you so much :heart-full:

I like your cartoons and I can't draw cartoony to save my life. It doesn't have to be a birthday sergal even, I just think it would turn out super cute :3

Uhm.. I also like cartoony animals
not anthro though, that kinda gives me the creeps unless it looks very disney-esque do any of you kindly kiwis have a place online to help with drawing animals? If that's not too weird to ask

Here's a PDF of Hultgren's the Art of Animal Drawing. It's something that helped me, so I hope that helps!

Look up Preston Blair's cartoon animation tutorials.

Don't worry, it'll be cute, I can never think of drawing anything besides.

I will say I'm better at cartoony than I am at realism. I found I have more a thing for stylized abstraction. Over on FB someone shared a pic where they showed how not to draw an eye and I kept thinking the "No" example looked perfect anyway. It's 'readable'.

I can vary depending on artist. I know a few who could do it in the Disney-ish style myself, they do a adequate job at least making toony anthro characters who stay roughly at a height shorter than an adult human and have enough believable attributes to work.

Hultgren was a master at this, going back to his "Funny Animal" comics of the 40's.

He also dabbled in animation to boot, though sadly passed away very early for a guy in his 50's I feel. Still, thinking were he'd been in the 70's, it was probably for the best (seeing as he was already getting stuff to do at Filmation by his death).

And speaking of Hultgren, another book I want to share is this PDF file i'm providing for free. This is his other drawing book that hasn't been printed since the 40's.
The Know-How of Cartooning by Ken Hultgren (1946)

Look up Preston Blair's cartoon animation tutorials.
A guy so talented, nobody could stop retroactively ripping him off to this day.

I have been doing a fair bit more pencil sketches than usual, so I thought I would share them. There's some very proficient pencil artists here so I will love you forever if anyone has feedback (I am bad at anything that doesn't have a ctrl+z function :c)

WARNING: POTENTIAL NSFW as there is a lil' boob

My advice in the spoiler box:

I like the sketches. I think you've got the main idea down, it's all about shading based off of the lighting in the drawing. As far as advice goes, I would give two suggestions. The first is to practice more with traditional wooden pencils rather than the mechanical pencil you have in one of your pictures. Mechanicals are really great, and while they never need sharpening and can produce a thin line, they aren't good for when you want to do some good old shading like with a wooden pencil (unless you wanna do hatchings that is). Mechanicals are good for doing finished sketches, yes, but so can a wooden pencil while also being able to do wide shading with the side of its lead.

If you do decide to use wooden pencils, you should practice shaving it by hand with either an x-acto knife or carving knife, so you can really make a long lead for shading, kinda like this:

And if you do want to use woodens more often, you should practice varying how you hold your pencil, from the "tripod" stance for small details and lines to the "overhand" stance to do longer lines. This link can tell you a little more about that: http://drawsketch.about.com/od/learntodraw/ss/howtoholdpencil.htm#step-heading

One last thing, it helps to have two kinds of pencils, one that's regular lead and one that has a "non-photo" color lead. Mind you not all of these color pencils work the same way, but the point of using them before a regular leaded pencil is to get down your rough ideas, building shapes and figures before going over them and adding details. This way you don't have to struggle with grey smudges on your hand and paper so much as you try to get ideas down. The general colors used for the "non-photo" pencils are red and blue. (btw, I refer to them as non-photo because their leads are generally light enough to where you can scan your images and adjust the lighting of your sketch to where the red or blue lead won't show up. Which means not having to erase so much!)

Hope all this stuff was helpful to you @_@

YES! This is exactly what I was hoping for! I can't want to finish my assignments and do more pencil sketches, try out some of the techniques in those links too.

Thanks Judgment Boy!

I'm currently making Chips & Ice Cream from this week's Adventure Time out of felt:

I need to start back up on my needle work too. That slid when I went on vacation and got a job.

I can't draw to save my life but if one of our arty people was looking for a fun thing to do, an Autism: Age of Nulltron poster would probably make the world a better place if it existed.
