A painting I did for class. I messed up the perspective on the label and text though...

Mixed media (acrylic with oils)

Looks fine to me (labels don't have to be accurate).

I visit this thread regularly for inspiration.

I haven't had time to art for a while and it's really wearing me down. I just want to paint more

Here's an old doodle I did where I was like "LETS TRY STRANGE PERSPECTIVE" and failed.

Also judgment boy I really like your WIP. It has tonnes of energy I'd love to know how you do it.

That energy comes from my studies during figure drawing. It's about using gestural drawing to get in the spirit of the pose, in my case going from quick, simple rough sketches and building them up. I think there's a Vilppu pdf somewhere online that you can download for study/reference.

Here is the book itself, on amazon:

This is a map of a random continent thingy I doodled while in Literature class, and it has been in a mind since then. The black spots are cities, the lines are roads and the blue ink is supposed to be borders. I haven't thought what kind of world or what countries either of them are supposed to be, only that the eastern side is more developed than the the western side. Oh, and there's an island in between west and east, but I fucked up in that. Enjoy, I guess.

I was experimenting after studying some art nouveau. I'm currently waiting on instructions from my mentor so I did this illustration as a test.

I didn't plan it out at all, I could have made the nouveau aspects look better if I thought about what I was doing from the start but I think it came out alright I suppose.

I got some $3 watercolor pencils to try out the medium. I really like it and will totally be returning to it! (I know the pic is nothing special but I was keen to share)

My current techniques for the medium have been to sketch (lightly with a HB pencil) the subject, then lay down the colors I want to paint in with a dry pencil, before brushing over it.

Then if I need to strengthen color somewhere I wet the pencil lead and draw into the area.

I am thinking about combining this with ink linework which I would draw in after I've done the color/painting, so if anyone can tell me if there is an appropriate stage to ink a picture that would be great, and if my mechanical process for using the pencils is ok or if there's a more effective way to do so please let me know!

Revamped a bunch of my interior tiles for some reasons, also made a sleeping sprite of the main character (I'm thinking the rest of the cast will receive this treatment as they're introduced).

So I've just been trying to work a bunch of things out. Mostly style translating.
Kinda wanted to do Simpsons stuff more in my own way but then there's the matter of trying to keep things recognizable, I was never good at that bit. Or anything else.

Honestly I really could do with someone I could show stuff and they'd point out where I'm messing up because I know damn well I am and do redlines and stuff but... I don't think I can find anyone like that.
