Alex ze Pirate redesign, in honor of Dobson's (maybe) return.

I tried to make her look more pirate-y, considering the comic's title is "Alex ze PIRATE" and the original character design barely resembles one. I also tried to inject a bit of 90s anime aesthetic into the design, since Dobson's original art style was heavily inspired by the anime he watched as a kid.

I'll never understand why Dobson thought a neon yellow unitard was a good idea for a pirate character.

I've been too dead tired to do anything properly for months now, shit sucks.
I did however over the course of the last day or 2 occasionally shat out a few stupid bad extremely rough sketches I found funny onto an empty gimp file.

Funny you say that because alex is just a fucking blatant knockoff of captain syrup from Wario Land. Like specifically the first several games' design, not the wii one.

You can really see it in the Mario comic appearances of the character due to the more cartoony look of those.


The manual art is a bit weirdly stiff and plain looking in a way you could almost mistake it for some kinda random stock art but you can clearly see "curly red haired yellow bandanna with same type of clothes minus the extra straps and bandannas"

The fucking skulls on the boots are even a similar style to her pirate crew's logo.

Holy shit, the characters are almost replicas of each other. Seeing that both characters have such simple, generic designs, I would normally just chalk up the visual similarity to mere coincidence. But Dobson being such a huge Nintendo fan, there's no way he wasn't aware of Alex and Syrup's nearly identical designs.
