WIP of a piece featuring the Gyeonghoeru pavilion in Gyeongbok Palace, Seoul, South Korea.

This particular setup is based on a photo I took while I was there.
Expect to see colors and added textures in the near future.
It may have been discussed in this thread or maybe this is the wrong thread to do this in but, how do you people overcome bad feelings about your art when you're trying to create something? I see so much great stuff here. How did you keep from balling up the paper and quitting forever?
Perseverance and inspiration is key.

Persistence and a desire to improve. I learned a long time ago that beating myself up over mistakes was the wrong way to go and instead had to stop and break down the the technical aspects of what I was drawing. SO a lot less "Goddamnit why do my hands fucking suck?" and a lot more "Hold on I need to find some references on this because my technique just is not working right now". Another thing I find asking myself is "Do I like what I have made?"

So take this doodle I did of the last DS2 character I made. It's still far from perfect and I must had gone back over it at least 7 times catching little technical mess ups. Overall I am happy with the doodle I made during a conference call but I know I have improvements to make. I need to get better at cleaning up my lines and also proper line weight and so on.

It depends on the bad feeling, for me its the typical apathy and insecurity, I just remind myself that if I dont draw I'll get rusty, and having worked on cars, rust in a b!tch.

Plus, whats the worse that could happen if your drawing sucks? Its just a hobby, and pencils/papers cheap. Best to just draw what you like, maybe share it and see if other people like it.

If you really get down, just remind yourself that people eat up trash like Family Guy, despite its bland as hell art (dont get me started on the animation).

It is pretty hard to really break in it seems.

What I do.

Does anyone have any advice on how to start gesture drawing? I feel kind of overwhelmed by just looking at a picture and letting my hand just do its thing.
