You know what, that's honestly pretty fair.

To be fair, the MC works for a corporation and the suit is designed for function first, it's kind of like how IRL Space Suits look pretty generic unless you have an autist like Elon designing them.

Like this is what they're going to use when they go land on the moon.

But for Hugh's armor, you can kind of tell that they took heavy inspiration from the Lunar suits Apollo used. Which is why it looks so generic. The game is also set in an unspecified near future date, which may be why they went with the simpler look.

I wouldn't call it generic, its just alot of White (really bluish grey) how many people are wearing Apollo Lunar suits with power armor bits in gaming?

lol all the top streamers are just vtubers
Of course one of the vtuber models is a little anime girl.
The gameplay itself seems fine so far but its got a serious case of Metroid Prime 4 where the characters just won't shut the fuck up.

' Enemy nearby, we better be careful! Wow, that enemy looks strong! Jump Hugh! Look out Hugh! I should hack him Hugh! We did it Hugh!'

'Thats the first lock! Thats the second lock! Thats the third lock! Thats the fourth lock, one to go! Thats the fifth lock! Thats all the locks!' - literally this just happened I am not exaggerating she chimes in for every lock while it cuts away to a big door showing the lock symbols, just in case you didn't understand the visual.

'Shelter? I can't go back?! How will I get to my ship?!'

It’s so grating. I could forgive the Cute Autism Robot Child moments so far if she ever stopped talking that way about literally anything else. Please, please tell me it gets better and they aren't constantly 'bantering'.
It didn’t bother me a ton while I played the demo (mostly because I liked the gameplay and setting) but I did get “Focus, M” vibes.

It hit me as generic too. Kojima ludens suit with the sci-fi mook helmet that's been popular for a few years (senjutsu kogei type aesthetic) with a bit of evangelion thrown in at the forehead.

But I haven't played the game yet, maybe being somewhat generic is intentional for the character (and his contrast with the other one).

I've seen people draw parallels to Dead Space or Death Stranding but I haven't seen anyone bring up Ratchet and Clank. That's the only other game I've played where you meet a robot sidekick in the beginning that you wear as a backpack for the rest of the game. Even some of the platforming elements and weapons remind me of R&C, which were some of my favorite games growing up so that could contribute to why I'm enjoying this subconsciously. One thing that took me too long to realize is that Hugh's dodge is actually really helpful in the platforming bits. Obviously performance will vary but I found the sweet spot is PT turned on, DLSS Quality, 2x Frame Gen, getting like 90 FPS on a 5070ti PC.

I thought this too although the tone of Diane versus Clank/Daxter from the buddy platforming genre is a big difference.

The core concept of an AI taking over a massive 3D printing rig where the material is this hyper-transformative mineral is fun.

I heard it's pretty short. Like 8-10 hours. But I played the demo and thought it was pretty good.

Might get it on sale.

Some of the upgrades you get are pretty interesting. I just unlocked this one as an example

I think I am a bit further into the game than you, there is an upgrade that give a separate layer to the hacking nodes which is quite interesting. Haven't tried Auto Hack myself, I am already strapped for resources and I need to upgrade a bunch of other stuff.

I just got to the terradome so you're probably a lot further than I am

Not that much, but I did a bit of backtracking after the second area to collect some stuff. Even managed to die to an enemy encounter. You really need to utilize everything at your disposal.

Yeah some of the combat areas have kicked my ass, which surprised me since Capcom games tend to not be that bad difficulty-wise

True, I am starting to run out of heals in a lot of battles, and it is surprising how weak healing is. In general, I wouldn't be surprised that towards the endgame or on the highest difficulty you will have to run a crowd control build at most times.

Yeah the game is honestly a kind of metroidvania with how it rewards exploration

Also Phil sucks at this game like all the others

Reminds me more of older Resident Evil a bit but in general I think they did a good job with the exploration and backtracking. Not too much to be annoying but enough that you want to do it. Especially with the REM's for Diana.

I still like how the game continues to add various mechanics into the combat and with all the weapons, mods and whatnot I think everyone can find a preferred playstyle.
What mods are you running at the moment and which weapons to you prefer ?

Phil is already a fucking weirdo, but he gets extra awkward with this game.

I'm currently running the mod that makes healing 10 percent better, the close range damage increase, weapon charge rate and I forgot the other one. At my sister's baby shower or I'd take a screenshot.

I am loving the shotgun so far though
I specced into hacking, longer duration, more range, more gauge and the one for damage reduction when below a certain threshold. Shotgun seems to be the best out of the Red weapons so far, at least I like it the most.
