It doesn't matter if this game is pedocoded or not because Capcom is massively enjoying the free publicity both sides are giving it, I wouldn't be surprised if they're inciting both sides from behind the scenes as well. They get paid, Pragmata cements itself as one of the better modern Capcom IPs, and everybody involved in this flame war accomplishes nothing and remains seething. This is viral marketing 101 these days, outrage bait till you make it. Thanks for playing, come again.

I don't care about the success of the game, I am nauseated by the reality of how many people are just openly attracted to kids.

Well, you just wait until mods come out, because they're going to be unholy. This happened before with RE2R and Sherry(child character, also realistic looking).

Diana is not a child. It is a video game character. The character is a fucking robot. The robot looks like a child pageant model or a doll.

Do you think this is what fatherhood is? Running around with a monkey on your back hacking robots? If you do, don't become a father. Children are not like Diana.
The issue with that angle is it's easy to reverse, and it usually does get reversed.
"Who cares if I sexualise her, she's not a real child?" and such. (I think this is some sort of fallacy but I'm just making a point. You know I don't think children are like Diana)

What I was saying was how positions and arguments for and against this subject get cluttered with retards making dumb arguments which are added onto their respective lists. I was highlighting how this "anti" argument (men don't feel any natural urge to care for or have children) will be used to dismiss that side as a whole. It is drawing attention to the pedos, but it's framed in such a way that effectively paints men as incapable of caring for or wanting children, so any attempt to cater to some sort of paternal desire in men is creepy.

It doesn't matter if Diana doesn't fall under your definition of a child, if your argument catches whole swathes of people in the crossfire then naturally people will push back and the point being made—there's a pedo issue—will be overshadowed by the fact you said men aren't capable of nurturing children.

The cynicism in America is genuinely unreal. People are absolutely desperate to see abuse and pedophilia and darkness and sadness everywhere.

I genuinely don't get it, what an absolutely grim and bleak worldview.
Kiwisharts enjoying their loli game UOOOOH (😭) BUDDY

i think its insane how this is or at least from what ive seen is a popular game, yet i have literally never heard of it until yesterday. who is even playing this??? i know its just fotm, but still.

It's not being played by too many people, but it's a Jap game so knowing them it probably made 5 times it's budget back or something.
There are more people talking about the game than playing it. It landed perfectly in the junction of culture war and FOTM during a AAA dry spell where the only other game that looks halfway decent graphically is Replaced. It's similar to Assassin's Creed Shadows where the conversation surrounding it was more popular than the game itself.

The peak playercounts are actually similar lmao.

so any attempt to cater to some sort of paternal desire in men is creepy.
It kind of is. Why is this public frenzy over the need to paternalize a video game robot child doll less embarrassing than a cat woman fulfilling maternalistic desires through her personal apartment zoo? The only possible response would be saying that women only exist to have children, whereas it's a man's choice to become a father and being a 60-year-old robot dad is actually based. It's cope.

You should not be stroking paternalistic instincts through a video game, especially one with no story where you're just shooting fucking robots on the moon. TWD and TLOU seem to be real narrative driven games with a story that leans on its child characters. They poke at a very real tension of "how do you raise children in a world so bleak" (a very common sentiment), where the reality is you don't have much of a choice and you just have to do the best you can. They're supposed to be real kids that really are alive and that you're protecting.

In the game world of Pragmata, Diana is not a child. She's a robot programmed to behave the way she is. You can crush her skull in a trash compactor and all you've lost is a computerized door opener. If this was a real story on our real moon she would still be a piece of silicon that is creepy as fuck and all her actions would be synthetic because someone literally designed her to act the way she does. In fact, if she was real, she'd be even creepier because you'd know her shitty crayon drawings and wonderment at everything are not real reactions to novel stimuli prompting fascination as with a real child, but rather a predetermined response by some Japanese pedophile who programmed her to behave that way. A real man substituting a real family with Diana in the real world would also be a fucking FREAK.

You could print 100 of her and when they started holding hands and dancing in circles singing "ring around a rosie" you'd know it was some paragraph in her DIANA.md file that made them want to do that. Eventually a real father would get over her crayon drawings because they'd be the exact kind of charmingly shitty drawings each time. Her endless wonderment about total bullshit would grate on you and eventually you'd be staring at her in exhaustion and contempt. She'd smile like she's programmed to do in her creepy perfect child pageant way and you'd think "wow so this is all there is to her". She's never going to grow up, never going to love, never going to go to college, never going to start her own family.

Really, if you sit down and think about it, it's not just creepy that adult men are saying "wow! this makes me want to have kids now!", it's creepy thinking that anyone finds her child pageant design defensible because they actually think this is what fatherhood is. It's a shitty facsimile of fatherhood with no purpose. The entire point of making a family is to prepare your children to make their own family and navigate a shitty bleak world as well as you possibly can. Diana can't do that. When Hugh dies she'll be skipping and singing on the streets of Detroit in a dirty parka and latching on to the next man who finds her crayon drawings charming. Because she's not real, and she's not your daughter, and you're not her father, and she can replace you just like she replaced the moon factory cradle she spawned out of.

The entire cope response to how fucking wholesome they think the game is is a direct response to the wrong people pointing out it's actually really weird and gross.

I think if you want to play the game simply because of its gameplay or its art style (in a non weird way) is fine. If you want to play the game but don't want to give Capcom your money then Pirate it.

The whole topic of how children should and should not be depicted in art, storytelling, games, etc. Is a hot boiling pot of water I refuse to touch.

All I'm going to say is that the people who are going to cause artistic censorship are the people who are defending lolicon or any of that gross pedo shit.

I don't really think you need to focus on the content of the game to criticize it. Capcom were targetedly promoting it to lolicons in the immediate lead-up to the game by making a customized version of the lolicon dogwhistle crying-emoji based off of the child character. That was a calculated move they chose to make as a company in order to get pedophiles to play their game that's supposedly about an innocent paternal relationship.

You can point to all the blatant lolifaggotry that surrounds this game with literal evidence yet very smart and handsome posters will, by their own volition, throw themselves onto a landmine to basically go "Actually it is YOU that wants to fuck the robot child". Total gay nigger aids.

I didn't say it wasn't embarrassing or sad. I keep hammering on a single point made in the argument to help people understand why genuine non-pedos are getting defensive over the game, and it's because of the sweeping generalisation tacked on that otherwise undercuts the argument being made. It's a blatant fallacy, but it's all I was trying to get at.

(The two 'nitpicked' points in this statement are the first and potentially last, given it reduces paternal desire to a cold, purely biological process utterly stripped of warmth)

You've written up a good post that explains really well the caustic nature of facsimile parenthood through media such as this. It's genuinely good. But if you ended it with: "It wouldn't matter even if she was a real child in the context of the story because men aren't capable of loving any children but their own anyway," then you'd be making the same err. The question of a facsimile child vs real child would've make for a good narrative, especially if you had to choose between a robot you knew or a real child you never met before but I think AI (that Stephen King movie) already did that.

I agree that it's cope, but at the same time the people coping in earnest are just sad, pathetic men—but they aren't necessarily pedos. That was basically my position with the original post responding to El Chacal, because people are really eager to throw it at people and at a certain point it becomes performative/virtue signalling, and the person making the accusation themselves doesn't truly believe it, thus undermining the seriousness of it.

How does the combat feel? I've been in the mood for a shooter recently.
It feels like a standard 3rd person shooter, where you have to hack the robots to damage them. The reason a lot of people praised the combat/gameplay is that the controls feel tight and responsive.

Looking at the gameplay you'd think it'd be super clunky to try and hack/shoot at the same time but it's really not.

The thing that makes this particular game stand out is the developer. Capcom and subsidiaries have employed multiple pedophiles, particularly illustrators, for its Mega Man series which the marketing for this game referenced repeatedly.

One for example is reported to have drawn lolicon guro fanart of various series, which for those who do not know means child rape with stuff like disembowelment. Plausible deniability on this topic is dead.
