@PreserveTube Will you allow a re-archive for videos that failed to save their audio at some point?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
lol you have quite a based community.I knew a lot of users would have ad blockers, but not this many.
I looked into those, but I feel like they're a bit too distracting.Hit up on Stake/gamba ads bro, I heard they payout good (t. never ran a single ad on anything).
I'll most likely move to that at some point soon.Thunderbird and KDE desktop have gotten a lot more attention to their donation button with a one-time "annoyance" pop up, for KDE, and start up with the donation page the first thing you see for Thunderbird.
I agree, those ads look shady as fuck, but they’re banner ads and don’t get in the way of users like your suggestion would. My main criteria were that user interaction with the ad isn’t forced (popunders) and that they don’t mess with the viewing experience (i.e., what you’re suggesting). As for the malware argument, that applies to every advertiser. I’m just banking on the fact that banner ads aren’t exactly a malware distributor’s favorite. These ads look like total garbage. Do you care if a user ends up downloading malware from one of these ads? Do you care about the reputation of your site?
In an ideal world, Preservetube shouldn’t rely on me constantly pumping money into it or external factors (like me getting sued again), which is why I wanted to give advertising a shot. I’d like to repeat once again that this isn’t a permanent change. If you've got savings for this to last longer than you're alive, why do retarded shit like this? Will the site get exponentially more expensive within a year or something? 50 TB is not much in current year, I've got that much sitting a few meters from me.
The main page has basic title searching, and there’s a sitemap (https://api.preservetube.com/sitemap.xml) available for scraping or whatever. I can’t really think of a good way to display every video, but I’m open to suggestions.do you have an easy way to find videos on the website? I don't have the URLs for every video saved and could use a way to easily search for videos that have been archived. Is this coming in the future?
There isn’t really a good way for me to find those videos. Re-archiving them is also pretty weird since the creator might have changed the content. I’ll have to think about it.Will you allow a re-archive for videos that failed to save their audio at some point?
How do you know your phone was "hacked"?Unfortunately, every time I get on PreserveTube, it hacks my phone.
I got a notice saying that it was hacked. How do you know your phone was "hacked"?
It's already on Github.Have you considered open-sourcing this? Mind explaining some of the architecture? @PreserveTube
Seems like it got fixed, I used it the other day and didn't get this message.
Failed to request Youtube with error ErrorYTUnavailable. Please retry...
I've been getting that a lot lately but I just refresh until it works. Is it working for any of you? I hope recent YouTube changes haven't killed it.
Not working for me either. No videos will save, instead throwing 'Websocket connection was closed' or 'ErrorYTUnavailable'. I did manage to save a random video that was only a few seconds long as a test, but any actual video will fail every time.
Probably something to do with the encrypted widevine bullshit YT is doing now?In the process of archiving a lolcow's channels and videos - it's also not working for me sadly. I refreshed as much as possible but still doesn't go through.
It's been having that error off and on since before the DRM experiment. I think it's just brokenProbably something to do with the encrypted widevine bullshit YT is doing now?
I think it's still only being tested. I doubt it's a factor in what's going on currently.Probably something to do with the encrypted widevine bullshit YT is doing now?
