On their site they outlined all the stuff they have done, but the most recent to b41 is the foraging and Louisville & Mall to the east of West Point.41 is out. Can't really tell what they've changed yet, besides foraging. The foraging changes are pretty good though.
They fucked up sledgehammer spawn rate, apparently its 1/1000 chance to spawn as a tool. Entire map on MP been scavenged; all the major storage locations along of tons of garages in West Point and Muldraugh, but not even a single fucking one; to compare you could get 1-2 easily from a single storage location. No luck with the 'manhole' random set pieces - they mostly had pickaxes. Ended up spawning one because it's just bullshit to make bases without one and you can't loot that sweet gun store without it.
There were some changes to the firearms as well; magazine weapons like pistols or rifles are less painful to use as if you don't have any spare magazines to load, the player's character is gonna grab an empty magazine now and load it with rounds. Though, something 's strange too with ammo chance spawn rate and weapons; they appear far less common in households' cupboards or nightstands like they used to be. They also got rid of the spawn chance of a shotgun in bars and taverns, I've only seen baseball bats sometimes but those are garbage.
The best bet to find police blockade and loot the police car's trunks, kill the police zombies or raid the police stations in Muldraugh, West Point and Rosewood. I never been to military base/secret base yet so I don't really know what kind of the loot is there, but apparently M16 is in the game and it uses its own 5.56mm rounds rather try to merge either waywith .223 which already exists in the game and is used for a mediocre rifle. Which speaking of, the police cruiser is the best car in the entire fucking game and sports cars are not even close to being as fast as it is.
Don't use noisemaker unless you value your ears - they seem to run infinitely, zombies don't react to them and sounds get stuck. I tried picking it up and throwing it again but ended up doubling the noise and earraping everybody in the area. This seems apparent with some sounds, they used to loop endlessly on MP but they more or less fixed it within few days of the beta MP release.
Exercising is dumb and you shouldn't waste your time on it honestly, I somehow managed to break the pain barrier on MP and I could exercise as much as I wanted provided I didn't get tired, and after 24h in game of exercising I barely got 1k XP done at 70% regularity. It's a chore to level up strength/athletics because default XP is busted - at 9-10 skills you probably need at best iirc 10k while at going from 4 to 5 athletics you need around 18k XP, both still take years to do so I'd suggest making changes to XP modifiers.
Visibility issues still persist i.e. hordes hiding behind a single bush, zombies appearing out of nowhere or just being silent contribute to rage factor when you get bitten or mauled to death.
Despite all the bitching, it is worth playing it especially with friends, if you are a cheapskate you can always use the Steam Play feature to splitscreen or just sail upon the high seas and host a dedicated server.
