Basically they were ass mad because it wasn't an exact copy of 64. They didn't like that it wasn't mostly on rails flying levels, and without routes, even though most people take one specific route. And they didn't like the Aparoids because God forbid a Star Fox game doesn't have Andros as the main/ultimate enemy.. When I say an exact copy of 64, I really mean that. Thats all they want. And when they finally got that with 64 3D they still didn't like it.Did people really hate Assault? I can only imagine what the Star Fox fandom is like but the only complaint I heard about it back then was that it was too short. Which it was, it needed at least three more dedicated Arwing levels and a bit more fleshing out for the ground parts. The graphics were exactly what I wanted, did anyone really complain about them? I hated Fox's design after this but here he's just an evolution of the 64 design . The multiplayer music sucked though not gonna lie, but it's made up for by that mode being fun as hell with four people, though I have a suspicion it's a situation like Metroid Prime 2 where the multiplayer mandate took manpower away from the single player.
